Deadly tower of monsters is pretty good
Combat is simple but they manage to put in some pretty light collctable elements
I like the humor as well

It's the new beta. Wait for an update to hopefully fix it. I opted out and it's making me validate everything.

I felt the same way with Persona 3. :\

The only thing I liked about P3 was the battle system though.

Honestly, I kinda felt Persona 3/4 were too simplistic battle system-wise compared to Nocturne. Not to say I didn't enjoy them, I just felt like the dungeon stuff was the weakest part of both games.

P3P's combat is a lot more obtuse and grindy due to the tower design. P4's is a little too streamlined, but overall it feels a lot better because of all the extra variety.

I prefer P4's. It gets a really good groove by the end, where you have next to no downtime aside from bosses. And I'll never get tired of the protagonist saying "Persona!" with the cool tarot summoning.

Because Teddie is Teddie.

You blow your brains out to summon Personas in 3 so that will always be the better one.

im the other way around, i liked everything about p3 better

and yeah, that stuff was there in p3 as well

most videogames are lame about romance, so i tend to not get with anyone often

it's just lame

i wouldn't say nocturne is very deep either

combat system is pretty simple but i find it to be really satisfying, even if it's not that much other than picking the right element

the changes they made to it in 4 are pretty good, but sadly the game is way too easy for any of that to matter too much

eh i liked the tower much better

it felt like a more enjoyable structure cos those periods of nothing between "cases" weren't as apparent as in 4

there was also like the tower and then those really small dungeons you went through in the story bits, so it felt more varied to me

and since 4 is a sequel, i really expected them to do something more with the procedural dungeons

It's just a slog to go though the dungeons honestly in P3/4, the combination of the the lackluster dungeon and limited combat didn't do the games any favors. Press turn really makes Nocturne a fantastic game, and it would be lesser without it.

The battle system in both P3 and P4 got boring very fast. Basically, the first time you encounter any group of enemies you need to experiment, and every subsequent time you just play through the same script.

I'd say 40k at €50 with pretty much no preorder deal is still more than decent.
It's really quite good. I mean, it's now at 45k, which means they already made ~1.5 million on that port, and I can't imagine that porting it cost them more than a few 100k at most.

I didn't actually mind the monotony of standard battles in P3 and P4. They're more about conserving resources rather than struggling through the fights themselves. Like, it's not a question of alpha striking every enemy (you can) but rather, using the bare minmum offense and defense to preserve your HP, SP, and items for as long as possible to get the most out of a run. It's kind of a metagame on top of the standard battles, which I like. (I'm a fan of survival mechanics in most games, so this follows.)

It's a tough balance to make it actually feel rewarding, but it works well in Persona due to the time-limited nature of dungeon delving.

Oh, right, I played P4G first so that's kind of skewed my perspective.

I don't remember how P5 works, but I'm hoping it either has much better procedural dungeons, or just handcrafted ones. Both previous games really suffered from how similar (and impersonal) all of the floors are. Don't think I could recall the specific layout of any of them.

Yukiko best girl, fight me one on one irl.

I do wish Sega would just get P3 and P4 ported to PC already, to ensure we can play them forever.

I'll double dip when it hits PC. If it's a good port, that is.

My new PC will be ready by then.

Same, no point in stopping myself now when the meal is right in front of me, it's going to be good.

Started playing Ys Oath to pass time faster, damn the OST is METAL in this too, love it.

The best steam reviews are the ones that get mad a game for whatever reason and give it a thumbs down despite playing it for thousands of hours.

Got a review once from a bundle version.
Guy was mad he paid 15 centers for the game.
Yes, he actually did the math on how much of his dollar went towards my game.

If any of you are using Samsung SSDs and have their "Magician" Software installed - holy shit don't bother with the latest 5.0 update.

It is the pinnacle of "modern design" opting for an improved interface, while literally removing the vast majority of features and tools. The application now does practically nothing. It's absurd

Also, another Cthulhu game, which looks like a gamebook, and is made by French devs in Lyon:

Reading steam reviews can be hilarious sometimes.

Like one guy complaining about luck on pretty much a luck-based board game.

This is a common complaint about every board/tactical game.

I love it when modern design takes over whether it's software or websites (or games?). Seemingly slick, supposedly quick and easy to use (probably not to launch though, software seems to bloat pretty quickly with "modern design") and to top it off, most of the functionality taken off because who would want to do something with the software they installed!

Thanks for the tip, I might install this latest version just to see how it is now.

This one is the most galling I've seen. All the new one has is a status screen, a test tool and backup tool. That's it. All the optimising features are gone, OS optimisation, Over provisioning, data security, ability to use it as a way to change and identify problem areas etc etc. The new one doesn't even let you change the key system pieces for the SSD even though it states 3 of them. It won't even tell what they are or if you might need them.

I've never backed out of a piece of software so fast.

I understand the sentiment of needing to play a game much to understand it, but that guy sounds like he's being a masochist.

I mean, do they even know the heart of playing board games? It's all about RNG.

Nothing comparable but I regret deeply the time I wasted on Oblivion. I put in a 100 hours and it took me a while to see the smoke and mirrors. So yes, in hindsight, not a game I'd ever recommend.

I think I spent 40 hours on it before realizing the leveling system is absurd and I built my character the 'wrong' way.
