Whales are more likely to have max or near max characters.

Surprisingly, I am doing much better now that I ditched my level 37 Camilla for a level 14 Sakura in arena. I managed to win all 7 rounds with 7 characters alive, and managed full or near full life in 5 of them.

fucking cheater deploying 7 units smh

;)

People are slowly beginning to recognize the power of ninjas in this game.

Yea, I've been taking Felicia, along with Tiki into fights instead of a healer lately, and it's been pretty good. There are a few times I wish I had a more powerful heal, but 7HP can be the difference between surviving an attack or not. Since these matches are always so short, it's nice to have the additional attackers.

I think my "main" team for now is going to be 5* Takumi, 5* Jeorge, 5* Tiki(young), and Felicia. I love having the ranged attacks, and Tiki is surprisingly one of my tankiest units. She's great for luring in and soaking damage while the rest of my team hangs out and snipes.

Fuck Robin(M) though. He pretty much destroys my whole team solo.

Glad to see Felicia on that list. I've been very pleased with her so far and no one seems to be talking about her. Being able to debuff people into getting oneshot by another character is great, and her +7 heals on everyone around her seems to be pretty useful too.

How do you tell what "nature" your character has?

Their base stats at level 1 will have a +/- 1 variance. You only can really tell by seeing other versions of the same unit, but in my rerolls and on reddit I've seen people posting Lucinas that started with > 23 strength. there has actually been a lot of people looking into the stat differences on reddit, and they have a calculator too. Can;t find it right now though.

I got a Robin cutscene, and one "Oh shit!" later...

...it was a 3 star Robin.

WHY IS THAT EVEN A THING
Haha, that happened to me with Roy the other day.

The cutscenes playing for non-5* characters is the game just trolling the shit out of us.

This happened to me yesterday, I felt so betrayed.

Also are dragons hard counters to armoured units? I hit max level with a few 5 star units but none of them can handle an armored unit.

I was thinking about bumping robin up to 5 stars (eventually) or raising tiki to 40 (she seems to do really well against armoured units).

I have trouble seeing a good reason to promote Olivia to 5* honestly. She gets all of her skills at 4*, so you only get the few extra stats and the Silver Sword+ from doing it. She'll likely be just as useful as a level 40 4*, and you can save up to promote someone who gains a lot more from going up the ranks. Just my opinion, though I have her 4* on both my main and alt accounts, and she is pretty useful as is.

On the flip side, I'm sad about my Lucina. I've figured for a while, but she got +Speed/-Attack. I feel like she will be missing out on a lot of damage thanks to that.

That's actually fine. I have a -atk/+def Lucina and she more than pulls her weight.

Her atk caps at 50, but 47 is more then enough.

It helps, because I keep pulling ninjas and healers. I have like two archers in my entire roster, and one of them is the default Virion lol.

I've written up a deconstruction of the game here:
https://bothgunsblazingblog.wordpress.com/2017/02/09/fire-emblem-heroes/

A deconstruction is a look at the core game loops of a game, it's game mechanics and how it monetises. I work in the mobile industry so I love to look at the best mobile games and so far I'm really enjoying Fire Emblem Heroes as not only a really fun game, but one that doesn't have too much of a stranglehold on your wallet!

If there are any inaccuracies with the game systems that I've detailed here, I'd love to know as some of the nuances of the game are hard to understand.

Hmmm, they put eliwood ahead of chrome. I do need a red melee and I got both that I can rank up with

I think they prioritized units that cannot drop at 5*, which makes sense because if you spend 20,000 feathers on a unit, only to pull him at 5* a second later, that would really suck. Personally I'm only promoting those units that cannot be pulled at 5* for that reason. Feathers are just too hard to come by right now.

i'm pretty happy with my team so far:

How are people promoting 4* units to 5*?? is it because I´m barely in Tier 2 and the rewards are too low? Any other way to obtain feathers?

Eliwood's ahead of chrom since you can roll a chrom 5 star.

Oh is that the reason, I am probably not going to get a 5* chrome, should I do Eliwood or chrome

So I'm about to descend into madness and throw away all my fight money, but I noticed that the highest payment tier is actually worse than the one below it.
Is this a mistake, or is Nintendo trying to con people.

Same in every playstore/ios. Note they don't say BEST DEAL like they do in other gacha games.

If anyone needs an extra utility player to help cheese the story missions, I recommend 4* Subaki. He's not useful at all in PvP but his Quick Reposte makes him an ideal candidate for baiting annoying sword AI characters. They just walk up to him and die immediately. He has good defense too, so he can really cheese the maps where a sword user (or even lances sometimes) gets stuck in a bottleneck. Just park a healer behind him and he's fine. Very conditional character but usable if you want to cheese a specific map.

Was able to beat Birthright 5 Lunatic underleveled because Subaki killed Ryoma in one turn and then chased Saizo around the map for 10 turns at the end, chipping away 3 points at a time, lol.

GameWith has posted a list with 4* that should be promoted to 5*

https://fireemblem.gamewith.jp/article/show/51163

Need to get that farmable Olivia soon.

Hmmmm, was going to promote Young Tiki later, but that list is making me think Olivia, Eliwood, or Matthew might be better. Didn't realize they give Durandal to Eliwood in this. I like Matthew's poison strike. And he's surprisingly bulky in this game (which is weird for a thief).

Pulled a 4* Olivia today, so I'm happy with that.

I heard about the exploit where people a making teams of 2 high level and 2 low levels to compete against weaker teams in arena. I tried it for shits and giggles and my lord... I had Takumi(37)/Lucina(35)/Olivia(1)/Lissa(1) and it was too easy, Takumi one-shotting almost everyone and Olivia dancing to give her an extra shot. This needs to be fixed, I didn't face a single opponent unit above level 30 (in Advanced difficulty!!) and faced teams running the same strat. Won 7 games in a row in a couple of minutes, I only lost one unit in one of my battles which is silly since I was using two level one heroes.

Is there any major benefit to doing intermediate or hard battles on arena duels? I know you get a few more points but it's been really difficult to net the chain bonus while on those difficulties.

So I have to wait until next wednesday just to get materials to unlock potential for a 3* Robin? That seems like really bad design.

Asking this again, never got a response

I need to level up a green unit until I pull a Hector or another more competent green. Who's better out of Beruka, Hawkeye, Gunter and Arthur? I've also got Frederick but he doesn't seem that useful in fights.

It is. But standard for these types of mobile games.

I mean. I just played for 15 minutes and I want to play more but I'm out of stamina...

I would say not letting people play the game is the pinnacle of bad game design.

I don't know the answer but I will say that Fred is amazing on open maps and incredible against armor units.

Unfortunately, most mages, regardless of color, one shot him and its not even close.

Yea this is the downside for me. No increasing max stamina, nothing to do after you burn down your current arena swords and energy. It's fine while the hype is hot, but when that dies down, you're going to lose a lot of mindshare by only allowing people to play a max of 30 mins a day.

My load today was pretty much trash. 2 Virion's, one 4* the other 3*, 4* Barst, 3* Nino and another 3* Gaius. At least Barst has a brave Axe.

Comparing to Brave Exvius and Mobius, where getting materials to power to unlock your units isn't restricted to one day of the week, it just doesn't seem like friendly design. I get that it's meant to bring you back into the game, but why restrict a certain material to a certain time period? Why not limit the amount of said material you can get per day? Oh well.

The Marvel game I used to play worked the same way. Upgrade items were earnable depending on day of the week. Its to keep you coming back. It's dumb.

Thats what is frustrating about these games. The game design is not "pure"

You could say the same for old school arcade games... but for some reason it feels different to me.

Is it better to merge players where you lose the higher star level but gain +1 on the lvl, or just keep the higher star level and not gain as much SP

So for example
Enhance 2*
Lose 1*

And you get 3* with +10 sp and maintain level

Or

Enhance 1*
Lose 2*

Get 1* with level 1+1 and +20 or more sp

I don't get what +1 on the level does.....

Either they fixed it or it doesn't work that well for me.

I just gave it a go for funssies. Got put against teams doing the exact same thing except higher level than me on Advanced.

Does anybody know how many feathers we can get through the new quests? I cleared the normal quests for feathers (2000 feather + 10 packs of swords) and it's the same rewards in hard. Is it the same in lunatic? 6000 feather in all? If so, that means I'll have 20 000 without sending anybody home when this arena season is done :)

I've spent the morning planning my future main party: Abel, Corrin, Serra, and... a green weapon type that can deal with armored units. Cherche is what I have, though I might see if I can get someone better once I get 20 orbs.

This is the first time I've enjoyed a phone game. Ever.

You always want to keep the higher rarity version, pretty much. But merging in a lower-rarity hero only gives you SP.

So if you enhance the 2* by merging in the 1*, you will get like +20 SP on the 2*. It's not worth much.

If you enhance the 1* by merging in the 2* (or another 1*), you will get some SP and also you will get +1 pseudo-level, which is 2 random stats. It's still a 1* though. And even with the max of +10 pseudo-levels the 1* will probably still be weaker than the 2* at level 40.

So, you never want to get rid of your highest rarities. But you also gain very little by merging in lower rarities. Instead you should consider either (1) setting lower-rarity heroes free to get feathers or (2) upgrading the lower-rarity heroes to the same rarity as the one you're using so that you get the stat boost. In general I expect that it only really makes sense to merge 5*s into 5*s.
