Limited reprints of Yakuza 1-4 now available

Since I played Yakuza 2 back in the day I'll hold out for a remake. As for Yakuza 3&4 I'll hold out in hopes that they'll both go back down in price once the rush to play these games dies down...

FINALLY.

I've been wanting to play the Yakuza series for such a loooong time, but the ridiculous price of Yakuza 2 put me off on it.

...I guess I gotta buy Yakuza 1 and 3, too. Darn 3 for not being available digitally.

I feel like Sega will make an effort to rectify that stuff after Kiwami comes out. At bare minimum I see this series (3,4,5 & Dead Souls in particular) being added to PlayStation Now at some point.

Bought Yakuza 3 as it's the only one I never got.

I'll wait for Kiwami and hope Yakuza 2 also gets a Kiwami version down the line.

I feel pretty sure they'll make a remake of 2 since they did one for 1 and it's the only other PS2 Yakuza game. So I won't be buying these. Going to finish 0, play Kiwami, then go to 6 with the story recaps. I think I'd get Yakuza burnout if I attempted more than that.

Got Yakuza 2! After how incredible Yakuza 0 was, I'm pretty hyped to sink my teeth into the rest of the series (I'll have to get Yakuza 1 as well, but Im not too worried about finding that one since Yakuza 2's used prices were fucking insane lol)

My copy of 4 is in a crappy offbrand case cause I got it from Gamestop. Real tempted to buy this reprint and give my other copy to a friend...

I would definitely recommend waiting for Kiwami if you want to play the first entry as well, I watched the dub's cutscenes last night and my god do they not hold up at all. Definitely worth a look for the comedy value though.

How does the reprint process work exactly? VGP just emails Sega and says, "hey we want 30 copies of Yakuza 2 so print them up and ship 'em please." and Sega goes, "Okedoke."

That's all it takes? I can't imagine VGP is ordering a ton of copies to make it worthwhile to burn new discs and package them in PS2 boxes complete with artwork.

I think I'd rather hold out hope for a remake on 2, and buy 3 after playing 2.

Prices should stabilize on these hopefully with a reprint.

I already have Yakuza 3 and 4 (no physical 5 still irritates me), and will purchase Kiwami when it's released. I'm tempted to grab Yakuza 2, but I have a feeling it'll eventually be remade anyway (considering the success of the Kiwami), so I think I'll hold off. It'd be nice to get Yakuza 1 and 2 to finish off the physical collection of them all (again, no Yakuza 5 so not a full collection anyway), but money is tight for me at the moment, with all of the recent game releases as well as more next month (Nier Automata, Nintendo Switch, Breath of the Wild, etc.).

I really hope they remake the second so I don't feel bad about my decision. :/

Yakuza 2 is so damned expensive in the US. Here in the EU it is like 45 euro, and at launch I bought it for 30 euro's. It was not launched at full price here I think. Cool to see the series get a small reprint after the good reception of Y0.

Wasn't Yakuza 2 released for $29.99 when it launched on PS2? I'm pretty sure that's why I bought it at launch.

In EU (at least the Netherlands) I am pretty sure it was, see my post above.

But it sold like absolute crap and the ps3 was already there, so it became a rare title.

It's nice to see some serious push with the franchise in the west, who would've thought that this would be the case in 2017, especially before the release of 5.

Grabbed 2 and 3, thank God I don't have to pay the aftermarket prices for 2 now.
Now I have all but 1, but I'll be waiting for Kiwami.

Without having a full understanding I imagine the reprint contract would have to have been a certain number of units. It was likely lucrative for Sega since it was on 4 different titles and they likely got 5,000 units of each or something. They wouldn't reprint for 100s of units.
