Street Fighter V |OTVII| New Generation - Connection To Haters Was Lost

Its soley depending on how well it does.

Considering the main sponsor of the CPT now has extra incentive to push marvel related shit, if it does well. It might be the main thing

Marvel can't pull in the numbers SF pulls. It's harder for casual watchers to keep track of all the shit Marvel does compared to SFV. Marvel is going to do well, but by its very nature, it's less watchable than SFV or most other games.

MOBAs are the most unwatchable shit possible, yet they pull more people than anything.

SFV was not always booked last - I remember a few events having Mahvel as the main event with AE prior.

Marvel 4 is going to be a big game if it is anywhere near close to being good. Marvel as a license is much stronger now, and UMvC3 was five years ago.

I mean in direct relation to SF4/V. It's more difficult for someone who watches ESPN to understand what's going on in a Marvel title than a mainline one.

That being said, it's not like Marvel is going to be devoid of fans, new and casual. That game is going to draw in some serious pull regardless, and Capcom is probably going to host some separate events for it to bolster the community. I could see them doing a smaller CPT like thing next year for a few months. Japan seems to be on board with Marvel, so international support will be strong too.

SFV is zzz to watch like 80% of the time. Marvel is always hype even with tac/dhc/thc etc stuff going on..its very flashy and stylish. Even if they dont know whats going on just seeing familiar (marvel) characters doing crazy shot helps alot.

And SFV still is easier to follow. Not like it hurts them to do so, however. Just that it won't be as easy to follow like SFV or Tekken.

SF4 was Sleep Fighter forever and it didn't matter to casuals because they can still see shit. TACs don't matter if it just looks like a mess.

I like watching both for different reasons, but most passerbys have no clue what's going on compared to other games at first glance. Versus games are super hectic, and even toned down, MVC:I is still gonna be crazy.

Despite all that, the numbers are definitely going to rival SFV, if not overtake other games easy. It's just that casual viewers are more likely to watch something less flashy and less complicated in the fighting game genre. It's always been a huge factor. Not that SFV doesn't have its own problems in keeping interest, like SF games before it.

I've made more progress tonight than I've made in a year. I went from Silver to Ultra Silver in a matter of hours, & I would have hit Gold if my sister didn't take the TV.

Maybe tomorrow I'll hit Gold.

I'm really interested in how Infinite will do compared to SF once it's out.

While I'm not expecting V to fall by the wayside once Infinite is out, I really hope that doesn't happen.

Edzi, I'll play. CFN?

Does anyone know the video where early in SFV, this guy got beat by a spamming jump in or something and went into training mode and ran into the same guy again but beat him because he just trained against it? And he was all "KNOWLEDGE!!!"

I think it was Ryu vs. Bison.

I remember, but have no idea how to find it now. I searched "sf5 knowledge" on youtube, but obviously that didn't work so well...

EDIT, found it:

searched "sfv knowledge runback"

Damn, Danslip just took a game off of Smug. Impressive given how much Smug has dominated so far.

Danslip is nice, don't get me wrong, but getting a game off of anyone in SFV doesn't hold that much weight as other games in regards to how quickly shit can fit the fan lol

I think this game has more hits than misses in terms of returning character redesigns. Even Ken is cool in concept. His outfit is good. Too bad his execution wasn't great compared to everyone else.
ASW wiped the floor with them that regard, dropped 2 week old hot trash everywhere and proceeded to wipe the floor even cleaner once again. I say this as someone who has spent like 300 hours on SFV and maybe an hour on modern Guilty Gear.

The needs for rollback netcode and crossplay are strong within me.

I dunno, I like most of the redesigns...

Ken, Bison, Mika, Birdie, Karin, Dhalsim, Balrog, Urien and Guile are all wins in my book.

The only ones I'm not too fond of are Ibuki, Alex and Nash. Juri I flipflop on, but her alt costumes are so incredible and the eyepatch suits her so well that I think I'd lump it in with the good ones too.

I think they're all good designs, but the execution is lacking in a few (namely Ken's hair/face model).

I think Ken looks alright 90% of the time, it's just the character select lighting and posing giving him a hideous look, people would have probably said the same about the gorilla in a red gi that was Ken in SF4 if they used character models for character select there too. What they did to Alex's hair was a tragedy though.

While this is mostly true, I think there's something wrong with they way they modeled his face that makes it look that hideous in certain angles. It's accentuated when he has his ugly short hair costume, since I think they screwed up with his eye size and forehead size.

But yeah, I do think people tend to forget about He-Man Ken from SF4 when talking about his SFV face.

I think a ton of complaints about Ken's face/expeessions would go away if Capcom just toned down his eyebrows. They're really dark, sharp and pronounced, which makes them look out of place. I get why they look like that, since he's had those same weird ass eyebrows since forever:

But the effect is less noticeable on a sprite than it is on a 3D model.

His eyebrows are dark because that's his natural hair color. He dyes his hair blonde.

I'm glad they got rid of Cammy's dumb leg paint.

Still want her Alpha outfit for SFV though.

Not all blondes have eyebrow as light as their head color.

Unless what you speak of is lore lol

I know. But other characters have dark eyebrows and they don't look as weird as his. His eyebrows are really thick, really sharp and really pointy. They outline his forehead in a weird way and make him look like he's got a permanent freaky expression on his face.

The reason his face seems to look better in his story costume compared to the default is because the hair bangs he has in that costume cover the sharp corners of his eyebrows, which makes them look more normal.

This game easily has the best version of her Delta Red costume.

It's a wonder what removing the camo paint and giving her a harness/gun holster
and making her thicker
can do for her look.

Yes lore, Ken has brown/dark hair.

Ken's naturally been dark haired yeah

that sf2 design is not meant to be confusing

The past 25 years of my life has been a lie.

Yeah, a much better improvement over her SFIV model, yuck.

Just wanted to say that this is not normal. I've played hundreds of ranked matches druing the last few weeks and maybe 10 didn't count, probably fewer than that. Just to make sure: only the error which starts with an 8 is the one where it doesn't register. The 40006 or whatever doesn't matter and it eventually does count your win or loss.
I don't know if server errors are worse in some regions or at certain times, but I've never experienced what you describe.

Yeah this is legit. Wish Capcom would have a more balanced approach to alt costumes: some bonkers / outlandish outfits as well as more practical looking ones for each character; particularly for female characters where apparently all they can do overly sexualised.
