Where is the Portal Remaster Collection?

So many remasterer collections but never a Portal remaster collection, would love this on PS4/XONE, but I know it's probably never going to happen because Valve.

IDK, guess the recent news of the Valve departures had me thinking back to just how much fun those (esp. 2) games were.

(Full disclosure, I don't have a gaming PC to just go back and play them there & my PS3 has long since been taken over as a dedicated Minecraft machine for my 5 year old)

After CS: GO I wouldn't expect much from Valve when it comes to consoles, they probably looked at the numbers and figured it wasn't worth it.

Besides, you don't need a gaming PC for Portal games.

I really don't think either game needs one to be honest, backwards compatible would be nice for consoles, but otherwise the games still have a nice, clean look to them, can be bought extremely cheap on PC, and basically run on a potato.

Valve would rather do the update on pc for free to get people to play again en masse.

In fact, there will almost certainly be an update when Source 2 really comes along.

That would require Valve to do something that doesn't involve making butt loads of money from their miniature economies found in their games and Steam itself.

So, it's never going to happen.

The one thing Valve should do though is fix the cave textures in the Cave Johnson levels. If you have textures set at anything above medium, it doesn't render them properly, they fixed it in the past only to break it again at some point in the last couple years.

Both HL games brought something new to the table when they were released. If HL3 ever releases, I HIGHLY doubt it would just be a generic shooter.

i've talked about it in another thread, but the one thing that would make me care about half-life 3 is if they give gordon the portal gun, effectively merging portal 3 and half-life 3

Most of the main talent behind Portal is no longer at Valve, no?

fuck everything

I don't know what a remaster would entail, but I love portal so I'd definitely double dip again if it came to switch for the opportunity to play portably/LAN multiplayer.

because the gameplay is excellent and could go interesting places

in contrast to yet another shooter (the other coveted 3)
Gameplay >>>> Story. I dont care if it's only some challenges ( I would prefer if it wasnt since Glados and wheatley were great) but I need more mortal puzzles :c

There's still a lot of mods you can play for 2 which experiment with the gameplay in a lot of interesting ways. My favorite one has to be the racing mod series. They're a blast to play in co-op.

the portal remaster collection is in spppaaaaaaaaaace

wanna go to space

(On the slim chance it ever happened, I'd buy the hell out of it, but, yeah. Valve.)

They shouldn't make a Portal 3, do a new IP with a new "technology." Don't just do portals, do something completely new. Making a new Portal just creates certain expectations.

Well, the best bet for Console centric gamers is to buy an XBox One or to wait for Scorpio(if Scorpio allows this at all?) and enjoy all of Valves 360 games via BC mode. All their games are available via BC now. I wonder if any of these games have a frame rate boost like some other BC titles?

Otherwise build a cheap PC or get a cheap laptop as most Source games can run on a toaster nowadays.

When it comes to Valve making console games or even porting old games to current consoles, I think it would make the most sense to port Left 4 Dead 2 (which on PC currently contains all the content from L4D1) with four-player split-screen.

-I remember Valve saying L4D was the company's one game that was bigger on console than PC. It was at least worthwhile enough for Valve to keep trying to update the 360 version after giving up on TF2.
-PC version doesn't get updated super rapidly anymore.
-Four-player split-screen on PS4 and Xbox One is plausible, at least at 30fps.
-L4D has never been on PlayStation.

My money is on no Portal 3 happening until the JJ Abrams Portal movie comes out, which Dan Trachtenberg will direct.

Portal 3 will come out around the same time, and they will include remasters of the first two games on console.

Edit: Are any Valve games BC on Xbox One?

You don't need a gaming PC to play them. The games will run on pretty much anything. It would be cool to have them on current gen consoles but doubt Valve really cares. They were mostly aimed at PC and any computer from the last 10 years could run it.

Playing the Lego Dimensions Portal levels today had me asking the same question.
I just don't know where else they could go with the story, but I sure would love more multiplayer levels.

Valve's done with consoles. The situation with the PS360 versions of CS:GO -- namely that neither of them have ever been patched the PS3 version in particular continues to be absent from European PSN stores -- and Gabe's more recent comments about certification frustrations make that rather clear.

Edit: Are any Valve games BC on Xbox One?

All of its X360 games are, which is to say that The Orange Box and its individual releases (CS:GO, L4D1/2 and Portal 2) are.

Why would there be a 3 when Portal wrapped itself up pretty well with 2.

I don't especially want a Portal 3 either, and I don't expect one, but Portal 1 wrapped itself up pretty well too and that didn't stop Valve from going in and retconning its ending to justify a sequel. Endings don't seem like a roadblock for Valve's storytelling.

(Since I missed the retcon I was deeply, deeply confused for all of Portal 2's story, continually expecting clever explanations for why Chell went back which never came.)

Do they really need one though? They still look good as it is.

Both games can run on potatoes haha.

pretty sure they're done with consoles, even if there is a brand new game, I don't think it would come to any console. They don't need it at this point, it contradicts with larger company goals too, it doesn't make any sense.

Valve doesnt do consoles anymore. No need for them to. I say that as someone who plays primarily on consoles and bought every valve console release. They have there own thing on steam, at this point it would sort of feel like ms releasing halo on ps4 or uncharted on xbox
