Who's gonna tell us all about Eurovision this year?

And that's fine! My whole point is in a personality based website people are allowed to like/dislike who they want as long as they aren't launching direct, nasty personal attacks on people they dislike. And saying someone is dull or uninteresting hardly qualifies as that, for me at least.

That's totally fine, it's just the language when criticizing someone should be delivered with a bit more tact. People can be a bit harsh with their words.

Probably, and if they were talking to him directly I'm absolutely sure they would be, I've never seen a horrible tweet to Rorie, a nasty message in the chat (Dan on the other hand....). But with this being simply a discussion about the website in a different domain, I think it's just par for the course.

That's a bummer. He seems really cool, I hope he's moving on to something awesome.

Jeff just put all the weirdos talking about the Giant Bomb staff on the internet like they know them personally on notice via The Zone.

This makes me sad, especially after he blew up on the internet recently. I was excited to where it would take Drew but never expected this :(

I've been watching and listening from the beginning of GB. This is really bad. I don't know what Alex has done recently but his personality has changed a lot, and he's the least funny one on Yakuza, other than that Vinny and Dan are great. East is ok.

The only person I even like on the West is Jeff, I haven't liked Brad for years, or Rorie, they're just very very boring, Jason is good, but hardly in anything, hoping to see more ranking of fighters.

All the best to you Drew, you've been fantastic.

Thank you for ranking these human beings. Your contribution is invaluable.

Man, sucks that Drew is leaving. But totally excited for him in the next stage! I weirdly always looked forward to his Halo runs during child play. Took me back to 10-15 years ago (gosh, I am getting old after I just realized that Halo : CE is now 15+ years old).

Good luck duder! (...ugh, now I miss Hardcore Dave).

I can't remember, was he the one playing through FF6?

Does this mean we'll never hear the end of the FF6 saga? :(

It's really remarkable how they tend to bleed into each other in terms of opinion and discussion.

Not really , I guess it's just recently where many major games came out that they both love greatly. But in past years you could hear bigger contrasts in opinion between the two based on what was coming out.

Drew will be missed for sure though. Best of luck to him and I look forward to what's next with him and GB!

Well, the Bombcast is going to be even more boring now. I love Jeff and Brad, but Jason is boring and Rorie is boring AND annoying. They really need some fresh blood in there.

Giant Bomb has been going downhill for me ever since Ryan died. Then Vinny left the podcast, then they hired Dan (who i can't stand), and now this.

At least I'll always have qlcrew to relive the golden age of Giant Bomb.

Yeaah...

Time to cancel my sub then. Jeff and Brad can't carry the show alone and i'm not willing to play for GBeast content only.

It's a personality-based website, it's ok to not like someone being on their content. It's not like people are directly tweeting him telling to fuck off, that would (of course) be totally inappropriate.

People are way more personal about Dan, people have been saying Jeff is incredibly cynical, jaded etc etc for years. If you build a website about the people and their personalities, it's a-ok to comment that you don't like content featuring some of those people. You don't have to like everyone.

Rorie is a nice guy, but I find him extremely dull on the podcasts and UPF, is saying you find someone dull a nice thing? No. Would I say it takes away his decency and makes me "one of the most vile people on the internet"....absolutely not.

There are ways to say that you don't like someones input which revolves not being a dick. people were calling him Smarmy, drab, dull-witted, (which he isn't btw) and these attacks are not needed.

Second, I disagree with you on Rorie. I think he can be funny, affectionate, easy to listen and understand where he si coming from. You might mumble and get his point across in a more awkward way, but he has the humor to back that up.

The GB fanbase is so weird, like weirder than Sonic fans. Obviously not everyone (does that need to be spelled out? Probably in a GB thread), but there are so many crazy people in the GOTY threads, and threads like this, that if I worked for GB I'd be a little disturbed.

I wonder if the GB fanbase actually puts people off from applying to these open job roles.

weren't people critical/wary when Drew started to pop up from behind the camera early on? But he grew on people. So while I can understand people being upset he is leaving (so am I), perhaps we could be less quick to prejudge whoever might come next. Maybe they'll also grow on you.

I'm curious what Drew will be doing, and whether that'll be something we can see him in, or whether it'll be more like a regular job. Hopefully he wont' disappear from in front of the camera.

This is the problem when entertainers try and entertain with their true selves and not a character they are putting on. Actors in a professional sense get judged on the roles they play, whereas with the rise of the internet we are more often seeing people market themselves as the entertainment and so they get judged on that.

When you market yourself as the entertainment you put your true self out there for people to judge you on how well you entertain them.

If people don't like you they won't watch you.

It's harsh, but that's the reality of entertainment. Giant Bomb isn't a video game website, and they've always said that. They are selling themselves. So, people will judge the characters they see.

I hope Giant Bomb can recover from this. I really miss the old Giant Bomb. It was so much fun. Now, GBeast is the only real place for fun.

who the fuck is david?

I like David a lot, but he never really got a chance in the spotlight until season 8. I hope he gets a lot more moments in the next season because the writers do wonders with him, though hopefully that doesn't mean they are less attentive to other characters.

Drew is such a cool guy. I bet he is going to do something amazing. Best wishes to him.

GB West down two people in three months is rough. Hopefully Jeff has a good shortlist of people already.

The Whiskey-era Giant Bomb was the greatest ever. Then they moved to CBS. People forecasted doom and gloom. GB continued to be awesome. Ryan died. People thought GB is going to die with him (granted, that time it didn't feel so far-fetched); they hired new people and GB has been more awesome than ever. Now Drew leaves and it's the death of Giant Bomb. It's the circle of life, man.

Also, fuck David and Brett.

I 100% trust the Giant Bomb guy's judgement on who they let on the team and on the podcast. Jeff and Brad have never steered me wrong.

Worst part about Drew leaving is we never got a Legend of Scanlon video series since he'd said multiple times he's never played a Zelda game either.

I got grudge sucked!
Its pretty common in GB threads, their GOTY threads are pretty insane with how many people can't handle the idea that opinions might differ.

orrrrrrr maybe thats how they come across in the podcast? Jeff doesn't simply say that he didn't like something, or it wasn't for him, it usually comes across how much he just can't be bothered with said game and how he is never going to touch it again. That comes off as cynical and jaded, He's the indie hipster that works at the college radio station and hates your favorite band. Brad does it too from time to time as well. Its a bit offputting to listeners and if you are fans of said game or genre, it could be construed as condescending.
I would rather hear when Jeff is impassioned about something, even if he doesn't like it like Fallout 4 for example.
I don't want them to change their personalities, they just need some people to counteract that. Ryan was really good at that, its all about providing some balance.

I will agree that reading too much into their performance and assuming that they just need to give up video games or whatever is a huge jump to conclusions.

So keep it to yourself?

Out of the guys at GB West, Jeff and Drew were the ones I could listen to and occasionaly go "Huh. I hadn't thought about it that way". Now it's just Jeff left.

Brad and Jason of course has other qualities.
