In for Fassbender and McBride

I love that they're both in a movie together. Even if it is alien 6.

Enjoyed that prologue tbh. Not jazzed about this movie after the stuff that leaked but Im at least liking the space crew chemistry here

👀...week one in theaters. Ridley scotts crap is still worth checking out

I just got this as an ad on YouTube, had no idea it was this but I watched it anyway. Still have no clue how the movie will turn out but I expect Fassbinder to be great as always.

Neat prologue. I'm certain the camaraderie and good vibes among the crew will endure through the movie's events. :p

I just want to know if the ship computers are using Windows 7 like in Prometheus. Best OS!

Is Billy Crudup's character suppose to be unlikeable? Cause nothing about that dude makes me have an ounce of compassion for him.

When I saw he was cast, I figure he'd be an android. He's got a real Lance Henrikson vibe going on, and Dr. Manhattan ain't that far removed. Doesn't look like that's where the film's going, but you never know.

I guess they want to be quick to establish that this crew aren't all a bunch of unlikeable, dour assholes like that of Prometheus. Good.

I liked the callback to the Alien dinner scene. Otherwise nothing really stood out, though they seem to have a solid cast this time around. Nice set.

Still going in with the expectation it will be dreadful and the hope that it isn't.
That will probably be my attitude going into the movie, might even wait for the video release honestly.

I went into Prometheus pretty excited and left pretty befuddled. My friend and I had lunch and basically spent the entire time talking about it and eventually it got clearer that neither of us liked it much apart from some specific scenes and the visuals.

Lol, was that intentional or a legitimate screwup?

I hope Ridley Scott goes back and digitally inserts James Franco in the first movie. That's the only way his presence will feel natural to me in this universe's continuity

A bit too on the nose for me. I do think I like this crew a *teensy* bit more than the schmucks in Prometheus. Granted, that might change when the movie comes out.

Whoa, Amy Seimetz is in this movie... playing a drunk.

Totally different than the last time I saw her in Stranger Things, playing a drunk chainsmoker.

I'm 90% sure they'll make this David a non-threatening presence in the film or even heroic like Bishop, but even removing Prometheus David from memory, I don't think I'll ever see Fassbender onscreen and not get a vaguely threatening vibe from him.

Have to say that "everyday working man joe schmoe in space" thing that Scott wants to evoke here seems tonally wrong?
It seems like a desperate try to go back to the 80s "space trucker" feeling the crew had in ALIEN, but in ALIEN the ship WAS essentially a space truck.

In PROMETHEUS the mission is a multi-trillion dollar top secret ship and now in COVENANT it is mankind's first "large scale colony ship", and all they got is a bunch of alcoholic street punks and failed characters loaded with lots of psychological baggage and crew infighting.

Not looking forward to the biologist grabbing the new alien by the pussy without gloves and the geologist/mapping dude getting lost in the cave system he just mapped out.

The trailer was decent but the prologue... is like the worst fan service ever and that "emotinal" speech at the end, so cringy.

this looks neat, but i feel like there's way too many characters. 4(?) couples among them. I think most of them are going to receive the most basic / shallow character development, so why not trim some of the fat :/

Aesthetically this looks fantastic - but so did Prometheus.

I hope it's not going to fall into the same trap as that film - shitty, unlikeable characters that make bafflingly dumb decisions in a visually stunning Science Fiction film.

I enjoyed it. The people felt as real as you'll get from a Fox blockbuster attempt.

Reminded me more of a TV show than a film, though.

Making similar mistakes to Prometheus already. This is supposed to be a crew of scientists (or should be) on a mission millions of miles away for the first time yet they are acting like it's a frat party before they go into cryo sleep. I'm already struggling to suspend my disbelief.

Thought it was ok, I didn't follow the making of the movie so the casting is a surprise - Franco and Mc Bride ? Ok, why not.

I was planning to see it for Fassbender anyway but the gay couple is cute also. After Prometheus the expectations will be VERY low so I may be pleasantly surprised.

well, do we know they're the actual engineers / scientists / colonists?
I would guess they're the flight crew of the actual colony ship - which would make them space pilots or space mechanics.
... pilots are super frat-y, the uniform just makes them look way more classy.

Of course, if they turn out to be the crew of "scientists" this would indeed seem a tad ... off
