Action Figure GAF |OT| Articulated figures murdered my wallet

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
AmiAmi just sent me a payment request e-mail for Figuarts Han.

I only know how much it sells for now. I doubt that it was ever ten bucks on a rack at Gamestop though.
thanks guys, i was kidding but realized GAF is a huge place.
i think it was like $300-400. It was too much for me to pick up. I got the figure tho.
the opposite, i didn't want the figure, face didn't look right for me, but i brought the bike. we should combine it. jk, lol

Just got these in the mail from HasbroToyShop! :D

The fuck? I thought those were shipping in April.
Don't need those two, though.

HasbroToyShop put them up for sale right after their reveal at Toy Fair. I ordered them real quick before they sold out. Glad to finally have these two and I didn't have to pay the ridiculous online prices that the original releases go for!

I bought Han at the Toys R Us website after the prices for him were already more than double the regular.
They somehow still had a 2-pack of him and Greedo for $25.
Still need him for the Stormtrooper belt and Greedo.

Oh, nice! I only got back into toy collecting a little over a year ago (after taking a decade or so off), and just started buying Star Wars ones again in November. I was too late to get the original releases for good prices. I'm so happy about the re-releases.

Also, what happened to Halo is sad. Mattel is RobertCop-tier.
The plastic is the cheapest I've ever seen and the detail is softer than Trump's dick.
Gosh, aren't they just terrible? What has happened to Halo is really saddening to me. There's a complete absence of any quality figures or statues for collectors right now, unless you count those Dark Horse mini ship replicas. 3A fucked it up for themselves by releasing that awful Master Chief figure after some great Reach figures. Kotobukiya fucked it up for themselves with those stupid ArtFX+ figures with interchangeable armor, that nobody wants. Sideshow couldn't get the Master Chief Premium Format Figure out in time for Halo Anniversary, and now their proposed Cortana is but a distant memory. The last few releases from Play Arts Kai are actually pretty great, but they've gotten way too pricey for what they are. McFarlane probably fucked it up somehow too, although 343i may have wanted everything Halo under Mattel for some time due to the success of Mega Bloks.

Thanks for the history lesson. I have very little knowledge of any collector-focused toy company (being that I only started buying collectibles for myself literally a month ago) and only made the Halo connection from an article I found on these Mass Effect figures, which is a somewhat comparable sci-fi game property.

So we can expect these ME:A figures to have limited articulation then?
Hey, no problem. I'm glad I was able to help educate you, if only just a little bit. McFarlane really paved the way for what toy collecting is nowadays.

As for the ME:A figures, they'll probably have limited articulation, and look best in the poses that you see on the packaging.

It looks like McFarlane might be adding more articulation to some of their figures in the future though. They've announced a series of Destiny figures that are promising to have at least 14 points of articulation and are "fully customizable." I guess that means different armor sets in the future.

great post, btw :)

I've recently started collecting McFarlane's Titanfall 2 line at least, and yeah, for the price, the scupts are pretty good
Thanks! It was really great to have inspired that fondness for the old McFarlane days on the last page, that was really nice to see.

I'm somewhat interested in their BT figure, but what I wouldn't do for Threezero to do some Titanfall 2 figures. McFarlane type stuff just doesn't really have a place in my collection anymore.

I started collecting again a little after you, actually.
I think I bought that Han and Greedo showdown set in January 2016.

Those Destiny figures look good too. I'm glad I've made a conscious decision to limit the scales I buy into, so I think it'll make not getting these 7" figures an easier choice.

We got this eight cube shelf at Walmart for $68 a few weeks ago just to display figures properly for once.

Some more stuff:

Nice shelf! Nice collection! I like that you got creative with Ice Man in your X-Men display.

Thanks! We used a few cotton balls, some old build-a-figure Sentinel pieces, the ToyBiz Magneto base, and the bases from the Walmart exclusive Star Wars Black Series Starkiller Base Kylo Ren and Rey figures to make it. Phoenix, Rogue, and Magneto are being held up by wire hangers that I bent into flight stands.
i'm getting panic attacks from someone touching your shelf and knocking everything over lol

sick collection though

Don't think like that! Thankfully, they don't really ever fall. If they do, it's just one or two while I'm adding new ones. And thanks!

...oh. Well, dang. Lucky!

Do any of you ever buy something from a property/franchise you generally aren't interested in but you bought because the item looked cool or was well done?

I've only bought one thing like that.

The prize jewel of my collection is just that, Max Gokin Godannar. I had no idea about its source material, I just really liked the design and it had a lot of praise behind it.

I later took a peek at the anime but I was turned away by its style.

canceled HT Civil War Winter Soldier. Looks like BBTS restocked along with some other previously pre-sold out ones. already have the first version. Need the money for the Switch. At this rate, I'll only own the Iron Man from Civil War lol.

Is this guy gonna go up other places like Ami or BBTS too?

Wait I double posted whoops. It's too early
yeah, it looks that way. on the link it translates:
The above products are scheduled to be released at the general storefront.
※ Dealer's reservation cancellation deadline and detailed information on each product will be coming soon in the e-mail, magazine and " soul web "
we'll get it cheaper than 19000yen since it's "general release" but will be fighting for a pre-order.

BBTS and USA retailers, Bluefin is the official distributor of the Metal Build brand.
http://www.bluefincorp.com/catalog/
from what i seen in the past, Bluefin release dates are about 2-6 months after the release date in Japan. the biggest issue if can they deliver to each retailer. sometimes they don't get many to distribute.

Metal Build F91
JYP release date: 3/25/17

That Rocket does look really good, but I'm not doing another Guardians group. Once they release Drax I'm almost entirely done with Marvel figures.
