Then I think at least *one* of the LTD values is incorrect. Not sure which.

Edit: Or there might be a code bug meaning that if only one SKU has any units sold, the 'breakdown' version just reiterates the totals rather then separating them by SKU?
Yeah, I'm not actually sure thinking about it, but I do remember someone mentioning that one of the trackers was tracking them separately.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
In the past thread, we've seen several discussions about PS4 software numbers, and while it is positive that it's doing better than PS3 in that department launch aligned, I agree with Okami: PS3's early years were dreadful in terms of software sales (IIRC, the amount of software released was quite small; I should verify that though), so it's not such a huge result for the platform.

...But daaaaaamn Nier: Automata. That's a FANTASTIC start. Congratulations to Square, Yoko Taro and Platinum Games for this success. Platinum seriously needed this, so glad it worked out so well.

The power of fanart pushing Nier that high :p

You joke but having appealing art and characters is obviously a big influence on a game's success.

Codename Steam is an clear example of the opposite despite being a good/great game.

I do think the game looked more attractive from an art style, visual, and "look of the gameplay" perspective, which can help attract a lot of attention.

That's actually a pretty good example of front end marketing (making something that looks like something people would want to buy) instead of just back end marketing (putting up posters and TV ads).

09./04. [3DS] Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 - Professional <RPG> (Square Enix) {2017.02.09} (¥5.250) - 13.093 / 149.633 (-10%)

Gonna assume that retailers finally getting some copies after Week 2 shortages helped a fair bit.

a sequel for Nier is pretty much guaranteed, let's see how SE screws it up, they're pretty good at it.

They can get a successful title out of no where but fail to keep it going.

I don't understand why NIS made a sequel to Witch and the Hundred Knight. Afaik the first one was rather expensive for them and didn't even sell that well.

Edit: Thinking about it, with Disgaea 5 bombing they don't really have anything to rely on so I guess they figured they might as well try to create a new franchise out of something.

That's a really good number for Nier. That has to be above squares expectations. One step closer to a Nier remaster

Congratz to Nier! PS4 strength is growing further.

Lol, so strange seeing WiiU beaten by both PS3 and XB. Sure, Switch is about to launch, but nonetheless.

Excited for next weeks numbers!

Their strategy seems to be expanded the IP of their core series (making this; bringing back Hayarigami etc.) and making smaller, lower-risk titles that have a chance of selling well (like Yomawari did).

It's just... critical reaction to the first Witch & Hundred Knight was rather poor and like you say, it was a huge investment for them that didn't seem to pay off, so I'm not quite sure why they doubled down on this one. Still, what else do they have left? Their killed Guided Fate Paradox with the second entry etc.,

Hopefully this turns into another global million seller like Nioh. Japan is coming back.

As you can see, with a white PS4 Slim, it does not.
That is fine and all but that didn't change I expected 50k+ based on others White color console launches.

This White Slim launch was a disappointment in terms of sales.

I imagine a good reason why Automata has fared much better than the first Nier is because its main character doesn't have a face like a constipated moose.

Good numbers overall for PS4, 3DS is hovering around last years numbers and Vita is collapsing like a deck of cards.

I do wonder if 3DS sales will collapse when Switch comes out

And Yoko Taro's interviews heh.

Doubt it had an influence on the japanese audience tbh.

Lewd fan art, my friend. Lewd.

Yeah, not joking about this.
Insane how much RTs and comments I've seen from japanese accounts I follow (artists or not) on twitter, much more than the usual rpg or action game.
