I hope this game sells a massive amount. It completely deserves it on all fronts.

We'll get a hint of how well its done on Monday when the PAL charts come out. Right now its #1 on the hourly charts as well as #1 for the year on Amazon UK. Sony's last big new IP launch (in terms of numbers) was TLoU. It opened between 84-116k in the UK.

Imagine if Destiny 2 had every planet with maps the size of Horizon.

Imagine horizon with a destiny like setup with social spaces, epic loot, coop dungeons with crazy boss fight aka strikes, and raids.

So far I am absolutely loving my playthrough of the game; still very early on maybe 3-5 hours and am blown away by the quality of technical wizardry put on display. This game is pretty damn amazing and am so glad GG seemed to have delivered based on a lot of your impressions. I really need an OLED for this.
*back to playing*

Uhh if you're talking about the robot that Rost takes you to fight before the Proving, that wasn't a Thunderjaw.....

But if you liked that you will love fighting an actual Thunderjaw!

Oh man, I'm sorry

I'm playing the game in portuguese (my main language) so I've made a mistake lol

Well, thanks haha that fight was epic anyway

To put it simply, auto-tracking attack is when your character or enemy body reorient themselves automatically towards the center of the target. It behaves like auto lock-on in game like Dark Souls, but auto-tracking only moves the subject while keeping the camera as it is. Then in a game where there's a enemy with multiple hitboxes on a single body, attack from you usually can only register a single hit. Usually there's weapon with ability to register multiple hit on 1 enemy, but usually it have low damage as an offset.

To put them together, auto-tracking attack when you can only register a single hit on 1 enemy leads to accuracy problem. When you want to attack certain body part of your enemy, your character will reorient itself despite your attempt to position and direct the attack accordingly. This lead to the attack register a hit on different spot from your intention. In Horizon, this problem happened to me when I want to take off Sawtooth's blazer protective layer. I stunned the damn thing with tripwire, and out of three heavy attack, only one registered properly on my target while the rest of two landed on its upper thigh armor somehow.

I know that the primary combat of Horizon is ranged, and melee only serve as an emergency measure. However, melee heavy attack that supposedly used to strip armor off an enemy, become annoyance when you want to strip specific armor layer because of the problem above.
Tearblast arrows strip armor infinitely better and more accurate than melee attacks. Heavy melee is generally for stunning small sized enemies OR when the enemy is electrocuted.

Why does this thread have so many views relative to the replies? :lol

Anyway, Meridian is just breathtaking on a clear day.

I just love the aesthetics of everything in this game. Definitely up there with Bloodborne.

I can't get over how beautiful the music is in this game. It really adds to the experience when you're just out exploring, taking in the visuals and the mystery.

I just noticed that too. 1.2M views 5 days after launch. Damn.

Guerrilla poured incredible detail into the robots, they said on dutch television. One second of animation took like a day of work. And they have like 4 seconds, on 250 different animations per robot. They looked at what animal its been based on, studied its movements and so on. Thats why they move around so fucking cool.

I don't think this melee system is trying to ape Monster Hunter, the hitbox for the melee is too large for precise part chopping. If the game describes heavy attacks that way it probably means armour in general, not sectors.

I was not prepared for the addictiveness of this game. I'm about 24 hours in and I have not even done either of the level 12 main missions lol.

Hopefully this leads to more new IP's from their big studios.

A good idea is to search this thread for posts by SunhiLegend and start going through every one of his/her gifs. It's glorious

I absolutely love the detail that while you're running and calling for your mount, the game's designed as to have the mount run besides you for a while in order for Aloy to easily jump on while running at full speed.

Once you know what to do to take down enemies it's such a joy to tear them apart. I love that now I can kick a Thunderjaws ass pretty easily, but still if I make one wrong move I can easily die. No matter what level you are it's all about how you know to take these beasts down and discovering it on your own is a joy.

I actually think Behemoth, Rockbreaker, and Stalker are the toughest machines in the game.

20hours lvl 27 and I'm on trail to meridian. l

Wow, I feel like I am going slow. Level 15 and 13 hours at Meridian now. Done all side quests except the last
bandit camp
.

Are you just exploring a lot? Maybe I am missing some huge side quests.

I'm Level 32 with 25 hours in and just arrived at Meridian. The photo mode is my main game it seems lol.

How do I find more side quests? I'm level 20 and have only completed 3. Do they randomly show up on the map or do I need to speak to certain people?

Green exclamation points on your map, this game doesn't throw them in your face though, you have to go to different towns and such that the story won't ever take you in the first place. There's a few that randomly happen in the world too, I think I have 12 done with 4 more in my list and I'm at 32 hours level 45.

Well into the game with most top gear and just enjoying the rich gameplay. Still tons of content for me to explore though, only done one cauldron and only a few of the large side-quests. It just obscene how good everything in this game looks. And how much variety there is of everything. Usually you see a lot of user photos from the earlier autumn areas but I'm really admiring the details of the various towns and the cultures. Just exited this foresting / metalworks area which was just beautiful.

There's no doubt in my mind that this should be hailed as the PS4's big juicy core/AAA game. Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 are great but Horizon is just huge and colorful and full of deep & responsive mechanics. Besides that it's just smart with its story and world building and with a great main character.

It just blows my mind that they transitioned from linear first person shooters (KZ2 ❤️) to this in a single try. Incredible

The fucking fight with 3
Stalkers outside Cauldron Zeta
killed me so, so, so many times. I actually threw my controller and that's usually reserved just for Bloodborne.
