Sliding the Switch in and out of the dock will inevitably scratch the screen

Amazon UK? I had an email from them saying the order will be cancelled if it isn't shipped within a few days as it'd been so long since ordering (despite it not being out yet). Then the next day I had "order dispatched".

This was 20th Feb. Pretty sure it doesn't take over 3 weeks to send a screen protector. My guess is the seller has marked it as dispatched to prevent the order being auto cancelled.

That's exactly the case. They sent emails to anyone that had it preordered.

Just bought these from target.

Are those felt? I saw the same ones at target but it didn't look like felt. Make sure that shit is felt or you gonna be mad, lol.

My ORZLY screen protector was dispatched about a week ago and still isn't here. Anyone else in the same boat? I feel like they've marked it as dispatched but not actually posted it out. The estimate is 14-17th

I got an email from them saying Amazon was cancelling their orders on them, so they marked every order as shipped to stop the cancelling .

Okay, so how many have confirmed the issue in here? I haven't noticed anything at all on mine, and I've taken it in and out quite a few times already.

More importantly, though, is the recommended screen protector this thing, and does anyone have one yet to confirm that it works fine and isn't at all intrusive or hindering once it's on? (AKA I don't mind spending the money to be on the safe side, but I don't want to waste the money only to find out that it's not worth having on).

Welp. I decided to take my switch out of the dock to try this usb c to ethernet adapter trick I heard about on Reddit when my Switch squeaked as I was raising it. I feared the worse, and sure enough...

I guess it's a good thing that I plan to use this as mostly an old fashioned home console. Bums me out though. I really am careful with things.

This is so crazy.. what a shit show. I am so careful with mine and I don't see how it could scratch the bezel with my dock but I believe you guys. Fix this shit Nintendo.

I hope we get some nice aftermarket cradles. The design of the dock is fucking stupid.

Lucky for me mine hasn't scratched yet, but I ordered a screen protector yesterday and am being super careful until that comes in. Really hope Nintendo takes some kind of action on this.

I get it man, but do you see those scuffs when looking at it straight on. All these shots you took are an an angle. Yeah, This shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Honestly, the camera doesn't do it justice. They are more noticeable because when you played it as hand held mode, there is usually light reflecting on the screen. I had to take the pictures at that angle, otherwise you would just see the light and not the screen. Sorry, I am not a good photographer.

It's been kinda hard to follow this thread, and I'd like to know what the correct way to deal with this is (my screen protectors aren't coming in for a while). Is it the two plastic/rubber protrusions on either side of the inside of the dock that are responsible for the scratches, or is it the top of the dock when people put the switch in at an angle?

In my setup for example it's impossible to pull the switch straight up, either I gotta pull my dock completely out of the TV stand in order to pull the switch out or in straight or I need to angle the switch on a slight angle.

Also remember it's been a day. Imagine how it's gonna look after a month of this shit.

Not to mention that I'm a hard core geek who was aware of this issue before hand and was very careful. Imagine your average non-hardcore gamer consumer with this product.

Posted in the switch launch thread about this but...

I used a brand new fresh out of the package micro fiber cloth on the back of the switch. Shined my phone's flash light on it and low and behold...Scratches all over the back. From a micro fiber cloth. I can't win with this thing. I'm extremely careful with all my devices so being 1 day into a consoles life and the back is covered in scratches from a micro fiber cloth is annoying.

Well I guess my Switch will be used as a handheld only until this dock garbage gets figured out. Between the scratches and the poor docked performance in Zelda, I don't think I will risk it.

Those look like smudges to me caused by the rubber. Looks nothing like the other scratches that were posted.

Docked my system for the first time tonight. Surprised how tight that slot is. I still don't want to put a screen protector on there...tires of doing that after 10+ years of fighting with DS screen protector installs. Ugh.

That just looks like the bezel. Does the actual viewing area get scratched?

It can do, but you'd have to be putting your Switch in the dock at an angle other than straight down.

I thought I had to wait longer but my glass screen protector is arriving tomorrow morning.

People saying "screen protector" are overlooking the fact that the protector will quickly scratch and then you're still stuck with scratches. Are you supposed to change the protector once a week?

In theory the Switch screen is only scratching so easy because its a plastic screen. So a glass screen protector should avoid this issue completely.

Unless I'm grossly misinformed.

Glass doesn't scratch. The dock is made of plastic. Edit: beaten.

Have slid my unit in and out of the dock multiple times w/o issue. Hell, the thing even fell over once. Even so, I'll probably grab some of that moleskin tomorrow just to be safe.

I kind of wonder if Nintendo knew about this but didn't see it as a huge concern (wrongfully, of course).

I mean, those who have scratches have them on the bezel and some are using flashlights looking for them.... I mean, at some point it's just a little nitpicking. (Not everyone, obviously).

That being said, I'm being careful and waiting on a glass screen protector.

Count on Nintendo to use a plastic screen, and have a dock where hard plastic slides up against it.

Exactly the same sort of stupidity as with the 3DS damaging the top screen when closing it due to poor design. You would think they would've learned by now, but Nintendo hardware quality control continues to be abysmal. Although they've likely made a good amount of money in people buying multiple 3DSes to find good ones lol...

I've been trying to restrain myself from buying a Switch, and the numerous issues reported are helping me :). Hopefully the put out a new hardware revision with glass screens in the future.

even my new 3DS XL scratches itself on the hinge just by opening it. i think they do this stuff on purpose. my dick seems to have ample room between it and the system while it's in there, it seems like a randomized thing.
