Wonder what kind of weird difference a Ruby + Ruby + Sapphire Fusion would create.

I feel like it'd just be Clifford the Big Red Garnet. It's the same "component" gems, after all, they'd just be taking on the personalities of Ruby, Sapphire and thirdwheel!Ruby.

Promo by Lauren Zuke for Friday's Room for Ruby (sorta spoilers on which characters are involved): http://laurenzuke.tumblr.com/post/158168784219/heres-my-first-and-probably-last-promo-or-close

Zuke also finally confirms that she has left the show, as she mentions that only four or five more of her episodes are left to air. It's a real shame, as Zuke was one of my favorite boarders. She drew the best Amethyst and I really liked her style of humor.

maybe she will move onto a new project we can all love as well as SU.

Might be an age old question, but what might be one way I can stream this show from beginning to the latest episode, with subtitles? It doesnt seems to be on netflix, and only first two seasons to be on hulu, dont know about 3 and 4.

iTunes, Amazon Video, Google Play. But ya gotta pay for season passes. Pretty sure they all have closed captioning.

CN has a deal in place for their shows to be streamed on Hulu. And they will eventually get the other seasons, the question is when. They seem fairly inconsistent on updates. Only other way to watch online is through nefarious means that I'm not privy to share on this forum.

There's a Blu-Ray box set of the first season from an Australian retailer, but no word on future box sets has come out, international or locally. And to be quite honest, you probably shouldn't expect one anytime soon: seems they're committed wholesale to just supporting digital.

Last but not least, there's watching on the CN website itself, but you need to have a supported cable provider in order to access content... and if you had that, you would also already have access to that cable company's OnDemand services. Though oftentimes they only have select episodes from multiple seasons up at any one time.

Actually Madman's releasing Season 2 on Blu-ray and DVD this May.

Wait... does the US not have a physical release of the season 1 box set yet?

oh shit, I stand corrected! Only 26 episodes though and 10 dollary-doos cheaper than the season 1 set (52 eps). Still, they're really doling these out slowly. Which I guess makes sense for a CN property.

And no. Not a one. Meanwhile Adventure Time has 6 seasons of box sets and a seventh on the way.

It's interesting that the box art for that Season 2 BluRay has art from Last One out of Beach City, a Season 4 episode.

So why has it suddenly become a thing to point out all the off-model moments in the show? I'm seeing it everywhere all of a sudden and from people who usually avoid getting caught up in stuff like this. People are acting like this is a new development as though the quality of the show has gone down when there have been been plenty of off-model moments since the show began. In fact, having watched a few of the older episodes recently, it feels like it's an issue that's gotten a lot better over time. It seems strange that this is something that people are latching on to.

Oh thanks. Yea i was checking hulu, might give that a try.

this is from the second episode of the last Steven bomb :p
the off-model designs in that one kind of bothered me tbh

Still better than all the original Pearl off-modelness. LOL

So...is Attack The Light really that good? I never bothered with it because I don't really enjoy mobile gaming and it seemed like your standard mobile fare. With the new game on the way, I think I'll give it a try after all.

I highly recommend it. It is cheap and you can beat it in an afternoon but it has a neat battle system and is fun to reach 100% completion.

FYI, there's a leaked review (yes, really, some site posted it a day before the episode airs) of Room for Ruby out in the wild. It pretty much summarizes the episode, so be careful until tomorrow.

Going off model is the standard for the show. Rebecca actually changed the character designs to be simpler so it'd be easier for other people to draw them. Its seems to be one of the things that she carried over from working on Adventure Time.
She talks about it in this video. Its an hour long and a panel of 5 people, so I'm not gonna bother looking for the time code right now, but honestly its a great video anyways, well worth the watch imo(if you didn't already see it in the western animation OT).

Off Model Pearl is the best Pearl.

I wouldn't be surprised if the key frame animators are sticking bizarre Pearl faces in at this point because they know it's an internet meme.

Well, it just seems like everything around this show is getting so negative lately and it's kinda bumming me out. Complaints about how every character is getting so off model even though that's always been a thing with this show, how characters aren't developing in the way they want or how they aren't developing at all. How much the filler episodes suck, how much the fans suck because if one fan does something stupid then the whole fandom is apparently to blame, nitpicking every little thing for not being perfect, talk about how CN is intentionally trying to sink the show and how it isn't doing great in the ratings anymore.

Usually I'm pretty good at sticking to the parts of the fandom that aren't super shitty and negative while avoiding the parts that are, but it seems like this negativity is seeping into everything now and it really sucks. Had the new game not just been announced, I'd still be pretty worried that CN really is trying to sink the show, along with the fandom getting negative and the ratings going down the drain. For me personally, it seems like there's been a huge shift in how people talk about SU since the last bomb and it's largely negative. I mean, criticism is fine and all, but I wish it weren't over half of what I'm coming across nowadays. At least this thread on here seems a bit better than the other places I've been around lately and it isn't constantly negative about every little thing SU does wrong. It's got a decent balance going on.

The show's generally excellent and has had plenty of stellar recent episodes. The last "filler", Tiger Philanthropist, was great. So I don't understand where any negativity is coming from.

imo the show has been treading water ever since the S1 final (I want to extend this to Sworn to the Sword since that's my favorite episode) when it reached it's peak. Sure, Peridot and Lapis have joined the Cyrstal Gems since then and the Cluster and Jasper subplots have been resolved (in a unsatisfactory manner, I think) but honestly not much else has happened from S2 till now. I still enjoy watching every episode but I'm not too excited about them and I feel like the show is squandering it's potential. I miss the mystery of the S1 episodes when Steven and the Gems would explore ancient ruins. The SU world seemed a bit bigger and more intriguing back then

Honestly i don't see it when people say that the show is treading water or the quality has dropped, mindful education is my favorite episode of a cartoon ever, i've never seen any show let alone a cartoon handle anxiety in such a realistic, but inspiring way.

In some ways I think this is true, but I think the show has just been expanding differently since the S1 finale - primarily on emotional arcs rather than plot arcs. In some ways this is disappointing, but I've really found the show to be just as meaningful as the second half of S1 continually since then - the Peridot redemption arc and the Pink Diamond arc in particular have pretty similar highs to the S1 finale, as well as the Bismuth episode. The Jasper/Corruption arc was a little underwhelming to me, but there are multiple incredible episodes within it.

In general, I think this is the greatest western animated kids show ever

not in a world where ATLA exists :p
that show was just on another level

im prolly biased, but the things this show has done with normalizing the LGBT community in children's media really seem historic to me

also the empathy-based values of this show are so completely fantastic, particularly in a world that's lacking it right now

i dont think theres a show right now that excites me more, except maybe The Leftovers

I like this show a whole lot but character art and animation is not a reason. Show can look pretty bad at times. Background art almost always remains on point tho.

I like the designs of the characters but yeah the animation is not the best and most su accepted the fact based on people joking about animations mistakes.

I just want them to introduce White Diamond already.

Oh and fight one of the Diamonds and that Diamond kick their ass because they vastly underestimate how strong a Diamond actually is and wonder how the hell Rose managed to kill one.

I totally think either Rose did something underhanded to kill Pink Diamond or someone else killed her and Rose took the blame.

I still have... theories.

We know that Steven is capable of possessing the bodies of others. We also know that he has a significant mental connection to at least one of the Diamonds- it was only him who cried along with Blue, after all. A lot of the powers that Steven, and by extension Rose, has been exhibiting seem well beyond the scope of a Quartz- why would a warrior gem need healing powers, the ability to possess others, or the ability to bring life, and why have legendary Quartzes like Jasper never shown a fraction of these powers?

Here's a few hypotheticals- what if Pink Diamond, the most junior Diamond in the authority, fell in love with life on Earth to the extent that she'd be willing to fight for it? What if she felt that being a Diamond put her in an impossible position, and the Earth couldn't be saved if she was still on the scene? What if she had a Rose Quartz who was loyal enough to give up her identity? What if Pink Diamond utilised the enormous powers of the Diamonds to take control of said Rose Quartz and shatter her previous form, galvanising the rebellion and enabling her to fight without all the baggage that comes with being a Diamond? What if she passed that power on to a human, who gets to live life while wielding the power of a Diamond?

I'm still on the Rose is Pink Diamond train. It's the theory that best fits the information we have.

Room for Ruby has been pushed back half-an-hour to 7:30pm EST tonight. Yup, we literally just found this out the day the episode is airing.

Oh, that is going to play havoc with DVR recording. Too late to change the cable listings. A lot of people are going to miss the episode.

Aaand my fear that CN is trying to sink the show is back. Networks don't pull this kind of fuckery unless they're up to something. The only times I have ever seen them pull same day schedule changes like this is if they're intentionally trying to tank a show. It's stuff like this that killed shows like Sym-bionic Titan and almost sank Avatar: The Last Air Bender and Korra too.

And if they do tank SU, I'm sure they'll pull the 'we can't sell mech of it' card that they always use even thought that's a load of bull. Apparently they couldn't figure out how to make toys of a freaking giant robot show.

Rose Quartz seems to be a tanky cleric gem. Her empathy abilities allow her to locate injured gems, her plant powers and levitation ability let her retrieve injured gems more easily and without endangering herself, and her barrier abilities speak for themselves. Plus she appears bulky enough to survive battle damage herself.

I honestly dislike the idea that Steven comes from some special lineage of gem royalty. His mother being a regular gem who had big dreams is a much more resonant story.
