Western Animation |OT| Cartoon, Cartoon, Cartoon

It's rare to see an episodic cartoon suddenly inject continuity and plot. Season 3 of Gumball did all sorts of things right out of the blue.

From seeing it mentioned on here, I kinda thought the voice change would just be out of the blue and random. I did NOT expect them to make an episode and have this Doctor Who-ish explanation in-universe.

As for best cartoon reboot/revival. Well MLP has got to be up there for sure. I've only seen the first few episodes but Voltron is good. Thundercats was great. I have really high hopes for DuckTales if that counts :p

Savin Yeatman-Eiffel and @Thomasintokyo want to do a new series related to Oban Star Racers!

oh shit

After Basquash came out, wasn't he saying the same thing about making a more child-friendly remake of that? And even released a promo picture? Nothing came out of that. Like del Toro, I'll believe it when I see it.

I've been binge watching Voltron this weekend, and I know they do because it's a trope, but having to watch the transformation animation nearly every episode gets a bit old. :p

Season 4 of Nick's TMNT ended today and it seems like that's the end of the main story with
Splinter and Shredder dead
. Thinking back about it, I think I'd put season 4 just above season 3, just because there was no real bad stretch like there was in season 3. I still think that season 2 is easily the best season. It started slow but after the first 4 episodes almost all of them were really good. Plus it has the best season finale of any of them.

This was quite an ending for the season. Season 5 looks to be more of an anthology type thing so the show might change massively in tone.

In other news congrats to Zootopia for the Oscar of Best Animated Film!

Caught up on a bunch of the new loud house episodes.

and I was hoping the show would stay enjoyable longer, but a lot of the recent episodes have been duds especially in regards to the character Lisa who they have moved from the smart kid that does creepy things sometimes but is ignorant to why, to a character that does creepy things but actively knows they are creepy such as
setting up cameras in the bathroom and merely does a huge on screen creepy smile instead.

I am hoping it is a bit of a growing pains thing as they try to expand the characters more beyond their tropes that they set up for them, and thus I will continue watching for a while longer, but I am quickly losing faith in the show remaining enjoyable.

You know, I've never watched this, but I always hear good things about it. Is there any where I can to watch it?
Preferably French dubs and English subs since I guess it's originally French and I like watching shows in their native language.

If you want to see them in French you're going to have to buy the French DVDs if they're still available. Doubtful they'd have English subs. Shout! Factory released DVD sets of the show quite a while ago but apparently they were only able to get the english dub. It's also up on digital services but again, only English.

Butch Hartman put this up on his youtube channel yesterday:
CTN TV Game Changers panel w/Butch Hartman, Alex Hirsch, Rebecca Sugar, Craig McCraken, Lauren Faust

This is a really great panel full of legendary show runners with a myriad of unique experiences to share.
They talk about how they all got started, how expectations surrounding becoming a show runner have changed, the actual challenges of being a show runner, and (in the case of poor Lauren Faust...) the sexist practices keeping female-led shows off the air.
They also all talk about their plans for the future and it all sounds super exciting (a long-form, serialized Craig McCracken cartoon?! Hell yeah, can't wait!)

Check it out if you've got the time guys.

Craig McCracken's work is spectacular. I'm down with whatever show he's creating.

Iron Giant (The GOAT animated flick of my childhood) is up on Netflix.
Caught it when it went up. Still so good, and more relevant today than ever. Best Superman movie. Best western animated film.

I'm surprised that it's the theatrical version over the signature edition though.

Aw, not the new edition? Ah well, will probably buy the blu-ray sooner or later.

They basically acknowledge that in follow-up tweets, saying they will need investors to make it happen.

Still though.

Like the friggin' SWAT Kats revival that's stuck in limbo after Warner Bros passed.

They promised us a 1 minute animation test at the Kickstarter level they reached, too.

I spat out reading who was in this panel. Definitely checking this out tomorrow.

Glad the OK KO fandom can get their vindication now. So, how about that Infinity Train thing, Cartoon Network?

Pilot aired back in February on the actual channel (at something like 6 AM), and that's a step they have to clear to order a full series.

Seems something's going down April 1st on CN.

Schedule leaks show absolutely nothing scheduled that day, and a commercial just aired implying something mysterious will be happening on April Fool's, but no details given.
