Who's getting Persona 5 for PS3?

In wake of a certain other major release also being on older hardware, curious who's backing the dark horse for P5.

But Why?
  • The game was developed for the PS3.
  • Much like Persona 4 for the PS2, this is likely going to be one of the last if not THE last PS3 games of note.
  • Differences are negligible, mainly load time related.
  • The black header just looks cooler.
  • It's cheaper.

I guess if you only have a PS3.

But I cannot see why if you have both consoles.

With the PS4 you have:

  • Standby mode
  • Remote play
  • Better loading
  • Easy screen capture and sharing
  • Native streaming support
  • Better controller
Seems like a no brainer.

No. Just no...

And let's not pretend there are any advantages to getting the PS3 version except paying like 20$ less.

The only reason to ever get this on PS3 is if you don't have/can't afford a PS4.

Are the framerates the same?

I got a PS4 back in December, so probably not me. I definitely would have if the opportunity for a $160 CAD PS4 disnt arise last winter though.

The fact they are releasing that on PS3 is awesome. Sony wasn't lying when they said 10 year lifecycle for PS3. It would be even more awesome if there was a planned Vita release.

The fact that it's cheaper made me want to get it on PS3, but the disc drive is dying. So I'm just gonna have to settle for the PS4 version.

I'd assumed they weren't releasing the PS3 version in the West honestly. I might eventually pick up a copy just to have it.

I'm surprised they went for a physical release on PS3 in the West. Probably limited print since it's probably gonna bomb hard. (The PS3 version)

Nice for the players who didn't upgrade.

I bought a PS3 for this game

I played a ton of other games waiting

I have since bought a PS4 for other reasons.

A couple years ago I would have for sure though. Now with the special edition being PS4 only, I can't really justify it.

Because I don't have a PS4 and I don't plan on getting one any time soon.

It's a bit of a bummer that I had to resort to Base.com because the PS3 version isn't being sold anywhere in the Netherlands. It probably will arrive after the release date.

They don't even have the PS3 version up for preorder here (Netherlands).

Luckily I was able to get a PS4 with a large discount.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Doesn't the PS3 version run at 30fps as opposed to the PS4's 60?

Nope. Resolution bump and better loading are the only things that separate the two versions on a technical level. There's no problem playing it on PS3 like some people are making it sound, it's literally the same game with no extra bells or whistles added by Atlus for PS4.

I'm collecting it on both though.

It's Atlus, so print runs will likely be small for both.

Eerie. Missed opportunity!

Me.

$10 cheaper. Doesn't require me to buy a PS4 (which only has Uncharted 4 for me so far).

Here's another one: My 1 tb PS4 HDD is completely full and I don't want to delete any of the games I downloaded because re-downloading them would be a pain in the ass. I'm considering right now getting this on PS3, it still has more than 400 gb of free space.

You know with the latest firmware you can plug in an external HDD ?

Me! I also bought Breath of the Wild on Wii U.

I bought BotW on Wii U, because I dont have $550 CAD to spend on a system for one game that I want in the next 4-6 months.

I will buy a Switch when Fire Emblem releases. By then there will be 4-5 titles that really interest me, plus whatever smaller games end up being good.

Nah I still have my PS3 but it's not hooked up I want to be able to play this easily for a few years. PS4 version is more likely to compatible moving forward with other Sony consoles too.
