Even ignoring the aesthetics of the animation, I'm actually mad thinking about how physically impossible that weight shift would be.

The animators of this game and the leads that approved this shit should feel embarrassed. No AAA game with their budget should push out this kind of work. Seriously if I were one of the animators I would not put ME Andromeda on my resume.

Lol @ people comparing Andromeda to Horizon. Andromeda got nothing,NOTHING on Horizons worst animations. Horizon facial animations might not be the best, but the character models more than make up for it ( Best looking game atm imo). Horizon has some of the best animations in the industry too, just look at how the robots are animated, or how Aloy's body moves and reacts. Top tier stuff.

Can't say the same for Andromeda. Lots of dead eyes, terrible,TERRIBLE animations from lip syncing down to how characters move. Lighting system got drastically changed. I could go on and on but the worst thing for me about this game right now is the writing... JESUS Bioware.

Edit: After listening to the soundtrack, Music is god awful compared to trilogy. The most generic Hollywood shit in my Mass Effect.

At first I thought this thread was petty but given the evidence I can't buy MEA. Mass Effect is half combat and half talking. If I have to deal with these terrible animations I'm not paying more than $15. Really bad. Embarrassed for Bioware.

I just spent like an hour watching the GB stream, the animation and human faces in general are by far the worst Bioware has ever put out. Straight up budget tier B-team shit. Can't speak on the writing as a whole but none of it so far seemed particularly good.

Its not even how bad the facial animations are, but how shitty and lifeless the lines seem to be. The actors sound bored.

New studio, new engine. Possibly in development troubles as well as outlined by others (speculation).

The studio, new engine, new talent is somewhat of a killer combo for a AAA games. Especially when you consider that Montreal only did the MP part of ME3.

But it's Frostbite, which they used for DA:I, right? And yet that game looks a million times worse than Inquisition, which was cross-gen too... :/

I would have never preordered if I had known it was the MP team behind this.

I can't even cancel it.

I have to board this ride no matter what...

Like the part when Scott

talked about how his dad died and sounded so fucking lifeless

This would explain a whole lot but still you'd think they could do the facial animations better at the very least.

Anyone caught the "video quality reduction" effect in the GB stream? They said that it looks like stream quality dropping, but that's what the game actually looked like on their screen. It kept happening:

My money is on someone in the company siphoning the budget similar to the Colonial Marines/Borderlands issue.
EA want the multiplayer dollars. It's a guarantee that the MP will be full of micro transactions and that's where a load of the budget and resources went.

Different lead team. Inquisition was headed by Edmonton as far as I know. This was headed by Montreal, which was before in charge of the Arrival DLC and Omega.

This is how I felt after No Man's Sky. It will still be the last game I ever preorder. I might still get ME:A knowing what I know about it but yeah.

The animations tell me that something has gone terribly wrong during the development of this game. I'm sure that QA, playtesting, mock reviews picked up on it and Bioware & EA themselves have been aware of it, but something made them decide to say fuck it and ship it.

No bald cap? Lies!
I finally figured out what is so off about the character models, at least partially. The irises are way too small, there's little to no overlap. They're dead center and completely exposed at all times. Everyone looks super wide eyed as are a result, like they just did a line of coke and are trying really hard to hide it. So no matter what is going on they just look crazy out of it.

Pair that with mediocre animations and you've got freak show city.

It's a march game.

AKA any game in march is either delayed or rushed out for fiscal year reason. Not kidding. Literally all of them.

Either intentionally held back or rushed out.

Persona 5 is coming out in April so that Atlus gets a fancy new fiscal year with the game, on both 2016 and 2017.

Kingdom Hearts ps4 has tons of crashes and glitches and comes out right before end of fiscal year.

Horizon needed more polish and march was the latest they could wait for.

Zelda was held back to launch the Switch etc...

And Mass Effect was a fucking disaster and they couldn't salvage it so it's sent to die in march.

I don't get the comparisons either. I'm playing HZD and the quality of the modeling and animations are leagues better than what's been showcased so far in the ME:A streams. As others have mentioned, there are hiccups every now and then in HZD, but overall the modeling and animations are pretty damn impressive. What I've seen so far of ME:A is...beyond even the worst of what I could imagine for an established AAA franchise.

Yep and it was NO coincidence why they didn't show the game off until right before release. They know it looks shit. I hope we find out at one point if there's some sort of Destiny situation where they had a huge change last minute or if it was just bad management.
