stupid snow in the northeast making my switch take longer to be delivered... might not have it in my hands until thursday/friday.
This is probably being talked about in other threads, but as someone who got a Switch pre-order immediately and got my console day one, I'm curious: what's it been like getting a Switch post-launch?

Posting for the new page:

So I have a ravpower battery pack that has USB C to charge my switch on the go when I don't have an outlet.

But, it also came with a USB-C wall adapter. I'm wondering if I use use this to power my switch when I'm near an outlet instead of buying a 2nd "official" switch adapter.

The specs on the block are:

Input: AC110-240v 50/60Hz 1A Max

Output: DC 5V/3A,9V/2A, 15V/2A, 20V/1.5A Max

Will I damage my switch by using this?
The output Voltage/Amperage is fine (in fact it should charge the Switch just as quickly as the official adapter). I cant speak to the supplied cable though. USB-C cables can be very offspec.
If it's the one I'm thinking of (and fairly sure it is) it's considered unsafe. The numbers are fine, but it's the actual performance that's questionable. Basically it advertises those higher power modes, but can't actually provide them, so when a device takes it up on the offer of higher voltages, you end up with a situation where shit can go wrong.

For charging the included battery it might be fine, and might be fine for other lower power draw things, but I wouldn't risk it with the Switch. It's not that it's terribly high powered, but ultimately it can still use up to the 15V charging profile.

Issue with my screen (blue marks)
The shop took it back without asking questions
Now I'm stuck waiting 10 to 20 days to get a new console
And I lost 15h+ into Zelda.

Where is the save transfer/backup? Tahnk god I only played 15h, what if it was 100 ?

Nintendo at its finest.

By the way I didn"t remove my Nintendo account from my user/profile page on the system, is it ok ? Will I be able to connect to the same account on a new Switch and keep my Snipperclips that I got form the eshop?

Yeah, I miswrote Dark Souls 2 as 3, sorry. Correcting other parts of my post as well, since it's probably not clear enough.

Anyhow, it's beyond the point. Just look how many games have been already announced or are releasing around this time without a Switch version. I don't think you want to make a point from the fact that this is just due to missing devkits or at least I hope not.

It is what it is, we already have been through this dance with the past Nintendo consoles.

You conveniently left out the preceding line:

"in the first few months since their launch, "

It didn't get those games in the first few months...

So when do you think Switch will get all these games that it's missing now? I'm curious.

Maybe they will, maybe they won't. I never said they would.

You said "ha" to three games that eventually came out for those systems. I was pointing out that the poster never said they didn't come out, just that they said the didn't get the ports within the first few months.

Honestly I didn't see the "first months" part in there and it's kind of irrelevant to the discussion considering the history of ports for Nintendo consoles. But I can't wait to play the remaster of Mass Effect Andromeda or of any other game that has no Switch version, in a couple of years.

I can't tell if my dock is curved, so I'm stuffing books and shit inside to stretch it out. Is that all I can do to help for the time being?

Also, tested the joycons a bit and they seemed fine for the locations at which I play them. Now I just need a carrying case so I can bring this outside of the house.

Not actually that important
Is it my model or the wifi is super weak?
Everything else in my entertainment cabinet works (ps4, wiiu, pc...) and yet with the Switch I need to move it out wtf...

Well the only thing that is permanent is the in-game save, so that's the safest. If its suspended you'll lose all progress up to the last save if you open another game or the battery runs out etc. But suspend is great when you quickly need to put your game on hold for a little while and want to jump back in at the exact point you left.

Zelda auto-saves so much though that it doesn't make as much of a difference as in other games.

oh I had no idea that zelda autosaves the game even if I dont manually save it is that right? So as long as I keep the game as keep playing even if I dont manually save it it autosaves?

Well it wasn't that wrong that you closed Zelda if you saved and didn't want to play on right away anyway because without any software suspended the battery-drain should be less.

Yeah when I closed the game I did not intend to play it for the rest of today so in the future if I want to play the game within an hour or so again then I can just do the keep playing thing..but if I dont plan on playing it again til the next day or something then I can just go ahead and close software..when I am playing the game and I manually save it..does it just overwrite my previous save because Ive played games in the past that every time I saved the game it would create additional saves which was annoying

I haven't had any issues playing, but my wife has now twice had the system freeze up for about 2-3 seconds while in combat playing Zelda. Not just bad frame rate, but a full system freeze with no movement, audio, or control functions. Anyone have any idea if this might be that rumored wifi problem, bad system, or something else?

Saves are likely tied to game id and user accounts. So as long as you use the same account and the same game, it shouldn't matter what format the game is in. As far as regions go, it shouldn't be an issue as long as it is the same game id. Zelda for example, is a universal title. You can change your system language to any language and that version of the game will boot up. It will use the same saves regardless too.
Incidentally, man, this may be proving my thought on trophies/achievements impacting freedom with saves may be bunk (or rather that it CAN, but they'd find other reasons eventually anyway that aren't nonsense.) There's obviously cheating with online games, but then there's also the exploits to hack into the system, and sometimes just subverting intended game design. And hell, they sometimes just get a bug up their ass about it, as some PS2 save locking showed or even pre-trophy PS3 saves.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
So, I Am Setsuna...

If I have a huge pile of great games and JRPGs already waiting for me, is this game okay to ignore? What's the hook to this that someone would say it's worth full price on a handheld for?

So I have a question, and I know there are threads on this but I'm not sure where to look. So I just bought a Switch (got lucky at Walmart a few days ago) and was planning on getting a charge grip, I guess, and was wondering what I need to do to charge my controllers while playing. Will this work? Like, can I plug the cable from the grip directly into the wall? Do I need to get an adaptor of some sort? Sorry if this seems like a silly question but I haven't even opened my Switch yet, I'm hoping to it this weekend and want to make sure I'm all set.

Exactly that's a good way of handling things. And yeah Zelda always overwrites your save whenever you save manually but also keeps the last 5 times it auto-saved.

It happens when large enimies ragdoll with a lot of other shit going on.

How do I know when its auto saving? I assume closing software is a lot like when I play games on the Wii U..when Im done playing the game I close software, but when I load the game again it goes to exactly where I left off..at least I can still manually save which is good and I can close software if I dont plan on playing again for a while..just wish there was a fix to the whole TV "Switching" to HDMI 4 when the console is on sleep mode its very annoying Ive been having to unplug the HDMI port because of it

Anyone have a photo of a red wrist strap on a blue joy-con? Or vice versa?

I think it would look cool but I hardly even use the joy-cons disconnected.

Man, after playing with the Switch around the house totally untethered to the TV, it just made me think about how much I want a Shenmue 1+2 HD remaster on this handheld console.

Plug the cable that comes with the grip right into the USB port on the Switch itself.

Just got my switch. I have 2 questions.
1)Why does it only has 2 bars on the wifi signal when I'm only 2 meters away from the router?
2)Will it ruin the battery if I keep letting it sit in the dock?

1. try changing to your 5ghz(if your router supports it) network if you're not already on it.. I've read a few people having issues.

2. No.

It should say "Autosaving..." on the bottom left I think but it happens so quick you shouldn't have to worry about it at all. Yeah when you are done playing just manually save and then close the software and you are good. As for the HDMI problem, I heard of two possible fixes, first have you turned "Match TV Power State" to Off in the options?

And secondly, if I remember correctly I read that fully powering the Switch down before placing it in the dock might help with the HDMI randomness but let's just hope it will be fixed in a firmware update given how many people have the issue.

hopefully all planes do have them by now

I got a power bank have not tested that yet but got to run and got a train to the airport

Have a safe trip! And honestly I wouldn't know, I only flew twice in my life :p

Had my first issue today. Was playing the Puyo Puyo Tetris demo and it wouldn't go to the home button. When I held home I got the quick menu but it wouldn't move within it. Had to hard reset the power to get it back up. Anyone else have an issue similar to this?

So I'm trying to set up my Switch with a Hardline and I'm only getting 3mbps down. Kinda surprising seeing as it should be 20mbps down. My 5.8 wireless speed is 15 mbps which makes more sense. When I'm hardwired it shows Nat Type D versus A when I'm wireless? Any ideas?

It's probably the dock! Mine was faulty out of the box; it didn't send a signal at all for awhile!

I sent the dock in and they confirmed that it was the issue and fixed it up! You don't have to worry about sending in the Switch at all if your problem is the same as mine was!

Thanks, gives me some hope. I'll ring em up tomorrow.

I bought one of the ravpower usb-c cables approved by the google cable guy separately.

Should be good right?

and for reference, this is my power pack and the wall adapter:

You are in for a good time. I'm like 30+ hours in, and it just keeps getting better and better.

Btw, consider also buying the DLC season pass. You'll find some cool extras laying around in the great plateau area if you do.

Does anyone know what we can expect in the eShop tomorrow?

I'm pretty sure that adapter that comes with the power bank has been confirmed as something that shouldn't be used directly on the Switch and only to be used on the power bank.

I had this once in about 50+ hours of Zelda. I figured it was the game and nothing wrong with the system.

Can I go back to the Great Plateau after leaving it?

I don't want to go into the OT cause spoilers are probably rampant.

Bummer. What does it do wrong?

Yeah I tried turning OFF The match tv power state that did nothing..when you say fully powering down the switch before placing it in the dock you mean taking out the switch from the console. turning it completely off..and placing it back on the dock? When it does that wont it automatically turn itself back on and I will have to go into sleep mode again?

Yeah, I might be misremembering the post but I think it said to place the Switch back into the dock, let it boot up again and then also let it fall into sleep-mode by itself since it's docked which somehow doesn't make the HDMI issue appear. I'm not sure anymore though, I'll try to find the post where I read that again tomorrow.
