So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

So in terms of GameStop restocks, GameStop stores are going to be selling switches as soon as they're received into the inventory. They won't hold them for a day or anything. GameStop isn't like big box retailers like target or Walmart who get their shipments in usually before open. GameStops, at least in my area, usually get their shipments in around 11. Hope this helps
Unless they handle it like a new game release or console release to better handle crowds or to give everyone a fair shot.

So the way I read that, there are two key factors.

First the fact they say on sale on the 22nd. To me that means they will probably get the shipment on Tuesday and have them for sale on the 22nd which would mean at opening. I doubt they will get the shipment on Wednesday for sale that day, but I can't say for sure.

The other key thing is where it says starting on the 22nd. Maybe it's just wording, but to me that implies that starting that date they are going to have them for sale. Which to me means they may be getting more shipments. Like starting on the 22nd we will have switches for sale, so maybe on the 22nd and the 25th etc. Again could just be how I am interpreting it though.
Yea, I can be there when they open. If I get lucky great, if not maybe I can get some more info on when they will be arriving at least.

That's the plan I'll go with for now. Thanks.

I find it hard to believe they would turn people away at 11 AM saying they have no stock and then start selling it at 2 PM when it comes in. Unless they have some sort of queue system set up for people to wait.

They won't. GameStop already communicated to employees that switches to be sold immediately first come first serve

This is literally how they also handled nes classic restocks. GameStop wanted them sold immediately

Do you have a source for that? Or that the shipment will be arriving on the 22nd? All that tweet says is that they will be selling them on the 22nd.

I didn't take any pictures of the emails, but it definitely said to sell them as soon as they arrive, and it said that would arrive at the latest at the 23rd

Just snagged the Kohl's bundle w/ the Pro Controller! The vigilant checking all week finally paid off. :D

Now to wait and see if it actually ships. I know some of the other Kohl's orders over the past two days have gotten cancelled.

Zoolert's what did it for me. For anyone else who's looking, make sure you leave Zoolert and NowInStock open with the alert sounds on. Really the only way to get in on the occasional online listings before they sell out.

For those who ordered from Amazon.es, what specifically should I look for in the listing to make sure I'm getting one from Amazon? Is there a Prime specific designation? If I go this route I just want to make sure I don't end up waiting 2 weeks to have it shipped.

New day, waiting to hear that rooster from Zoolerts at some point. Haha trying to find this has been more fun than I will probably have with the damn thing. 😂

Went to my local Target, Walmart and Toys R Us this morning but nothing. I guess I'm going to wait through Wedsneday before considering something like Amazon.es

Just spoke with a GameStop guy in southern MA. Seems around here the UPS deliveries come in around 10-11 in the morning, but he said it'd be best to call mid afternoon since they don't unpack them right away. He couldn't confirm the whole Wednesday thing though, which was slightly odd, but I figure maybe they just haven't gotten the okay yet, though he did say they are getting Switchs this week, he just wasn't sure it was Wednesday.

This would be my first time getting an imported console (thank you for going region-free, Nintendo), but aside from having to get a US Power Adapter, are there any differences to having an imported Switch?

Nintendo of America reportedly won't handle hardware support for systems purchased from other regions. You'll have to deal with support from whatever country you order it from, and if you end up having to ship it back for whatever reason, that will obviously be more of a hassle.

Because Wednesday is not confirmed date. The letter from GameStop said they will be showing BY wednesday meaning the earliest a store may see them is Wednesday, but they really wont know until delivery is taken.

Yeah, I figured hardware support would be the most glaring problem about this. I'll probably just bare through the hassle since I don't think I'd keep up with the stock rat race.

Thanks for the quick answer!

Each Gamestop is also in sort of a distinct district within a metro area. A Gamestop in one district might not get thier shipment until the next day compared to another Gamestop but they generally will get them over the next few days. So think of Wednesday as the starting off point.

I would think Saturday is the worst day to check. Shipments usually come during the weekday so if they got it, it would have been out on Friday. The new ad starts on Sundays so if they got it and are holding it, then they would get released on Sunday and not Saturday.

I've called several stores in Austin TX and they're not expecting to have stock til next month.

Selling out is one thing... but just not being provided any stick for weeks seems like Nintendo's fault.

They're all less than 5 minute drives so I figured why the hell not.

nintendo went conservative with launch and telegraphed long in advance that 2 million would be available for launch worldwide. i think it goes both ways a little here.

Just got mine from a scalper, $50 over msrp. The hunt is over, good luck to the rest of you.
Yeah, it's honestly not a bad idea at all to go buy one on Craigslist for ~$370 if you want one really badly. You're barely paying a premium. It's $322 after taxes in my state, at retail.

FYI the Nintendo store in NY has tons of pro controllers. Was there today and there's mountain of them.

Unless they're just display? But I don't think so.

PAULINK

I microwave steaks.
Call because brickseek and istocknow are highly unreliable. Mine has been showing 2 switches in stock for over a week but every time I go in there is nothing.

There really needs to be a disclaimer on these sites when you look for switch stock. Any inventory you see includes the "pre-orders" walmart is holding until april 1st. After that, it's fair game.

I found a screen protector at target with some other stuff I don't need for $10. Now I can use the dock with peace of mind. Only other thing in stock was a $30 charger.

iStockNow put this on their site once you click on a store:

Warning! Despite our best efforts, this store may not have a product for sale even if positive on iStockNow.
We reflect retailers informations as displayed on their site. We strongly recommend to call the store.

I'm frustrated I still haven't gotten mine shipped from gamestop.

If the Wednesday restock is true, I would certainly hope they cater to those who've already bought one first.

Was also told by my GameStop they are getting more Switch units next week, but he couldn't say anything else

I haven't heard about an online GameStop.com restock, only in store. I'd guess they come from different stock.

Because no one knows when stores will get them. The official statement from GameStop said by wednesday they should be in stores. Meaning the earliest any store will have them is Wednesday. It's going to be entirely possible for stores within 20 miles of each other to get shipments on different days.

People saw the March 22 date and took it to mean that is the day they all show up

Almost 9:30 am Sunday morning in Tokyo and I just stood in line for a lottery ticket to buy a switch. Bic Camera is having a lottery between 9-10 this morning at around 30 of its locations. I don't know if stock varies by store (they wouldn't tell me on the phone) so I went to an out-of-the-way location hoping there would be less people. I'm guessing there will be about 200-300 people people participating though. I could choose between console colors when I was getting my lottery ticket, and everyone ahead of me was choosing gray, so I decided I would have a better bet with the neon color mix. Well, here's to hoping that my strategy paid off. Now the 2 1/2 hour wait until they announce the results :/

That sounds horrible, not gonna lie.

I'd like to think that constantly checking online and going to stores at opening time is as bad as I'll get about this thing.
