Even if the animations were god awful (especially Ms. Scottsman going full Pingu), the writing for the flirting part is solid enough and an amusing parody of the usual Mass Effect/Dragon Age "Use this dialogue option for instant Casanova level flirting/smooth talking and guaranteed sex scene later on" and the Kill me now part actually made me laugh out loud, if more of the dialogue is like this (and the Salarian gets a good amount of screen time) I will definitely get the game down the road, even if most decidedly not in the next 6 months or full price.

I'm assuming the lip syncing is done on the fly based on the audio? Or is this pre-calculated and "hard-coded" into the final game. It looks so bad that it must be considered a glitch.

Amazing - each new thing I see adds to my sense that this is basically the video game equivalent of a CW show about young adults aimed at tweens. Kill me now is genuinely funny, but only because it can be interpreted as "wow, this is the best we can we do with awkward-cute flirting in a AAA production in the year 2017? Kill me now."

Kill me now is right. I think Bioware is at its worst when they try to inject that tumblr like awkwardness into their dialogue. Even Liara in Mass Effect 1 talking about "studying Shepard" didn't feel as odd, and the animation quality, writing and delivery definitely helped.

Looks stunning. Yes they make a weird face, but still a more human weird face. You can probably take a frame from a lot of games where they make a stupid face. But Andromeda has a larger issue that while even looking at the youtube videos, they look like lifeless dolls.

Oh and Lime, you did nothing wrong. Game criticism and funny pic threads are not automatic gater enablers. Those cunts would find any excuse to blame and harass people, especially women. Anyone who tries to put this on you is an idiot.

The romance scene is fine. The writing is intended to feel awkward and weird. The animations weren't top notch but I honestly didn't even notice them.

Coming off of Horizon just makes this all the more jarring. But I am still going to dive in and try to find some good within the bad. Worst case scenario is that I will get a few laughs.

There are plenty of games with awkward romance scenes. They're generally made awkward over a situation or moment that gets ruined or maybe a miscommunication. A moment you can laugh or smile at. Not just "I...I think you're cute and ugh..umm...heh...I like your accent ugh". It just makes Ryder seem like they're scared of girls. It's weird and cringey.

And I think that's intentional. Sara is scared of blowing up her chance with the robot looking girl, so she tries to impress her and give her compliments, but she is really bad at it. That's why we got that "Kill. Me. Now." bit at the end, to show how cringey the whole conversation is supposed to be.

Now, whether you like that or not is subjective. I like having comedy in my games. Even if they are not done flawlessly.

That is the thing, it's worse than the first game from 2007. Games are not supposed to work that way. Add in the absolutely cringe-inducing dialogue that sounds like it was ran through text-to-speech part of the time along with the myriad of bugs, and well, it's not looking good.
