Ey guys, I just started playing the game on PC and i've noticed that sometimes i have a white "chip" next to my LV. What does that mean? I've noticed too that after sometime it disappears.

So for the first playthrough what difficulty is recommended? The lock of lock-on on the higher modes is pretty rough.

Definitely start at Normal. You'll probably get some really good upgrades by the end of the 1st playthrough so I'd recommend bumping it up to Hard when that starts to become boring. Be prepared though as enemies will do at least x5 damage on Hard mode.

Okay, thanks. Is there an easy way to get a DS4 working in this? No native support through steam, still have to use DS4Windows?

That's a temporary buff you've most-likely gotten from recovering the body of another player or from using a consumable buff.

Are there new sidequests in route B?

I think so, I went under the
Amusement Park
multiple times in A, got a new one I'd never seen before down there 1st time on B. Also watched part of someone else playing early on in B...A boss' name was different mine was S
imone
, his was B
eauvoir
, both mine and his were on Route B..Did a side quest change the name for one of us?

Game region. That boss is named after a real person who died recently enough that Square Enix wanted to cover their asses. The minor character Sarte was also renamed to "Jean-Paul" (and any lines saying his original name bleeped out) in the overseas release as well.

Is there a list of items that are safe to sell? Some descriptions like Machine Cores and Gold Ore seem to imply they are just meant to be vendor trash, but want to make sure before I sell and find out I needed them for some weapon upgrade.

You can sell things that state "Can be sold for money"

I found two things with that message which are needed for a side quest though. Luckily they're super easy to get and only one of each is needed, so even if you sold them you'll get them back easy.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!

I DID IT! ALMOST!!!!

But I will do it later and probably upload a video of my success.

So, minor spoiler warning about the VERY END.

You can actually beat the credits offline, without help whatsoever. And it is not as hard as you might think it is. I mean, it is still fucking crazy hard but not that HOLY WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON CRAZY HARD as you might thought it might be.

And now I explain why that is:

So basically you take care of your deaths in the credits. Let me try to explain it.

1. If you die TOO much, the smaller words become invincible and you can only shoot the bigger words and even kill them faster but that doesn't give you anything since you can't progress any further.

2. You basically try not to die at all before you reach the first SQUARE ENIX (it's either LTD or INC), it's the first SQUARE ENIX regardless, after it comes some other big words like MARKETING & BOOK EDITING etc..

Now, here it gets interesting, because from here on out you start dying. No, seriously.

As soon SQUARE ENIX shows up you start firing it it doesn't matter if you die, because you have to die alot.

You basically get stronger everytime you die (it's either dying or shooting more enemies but I'm 99 sure it's dying. You don't get stronger everytime you die though. Only after a certain amount of deaths you become stronger. So let's say you've died enough and now SQUARE ENIX shows up, you start shooting it and it should die, just about it has shot its bullets itself.

FROM HERE ON OUT YOU STOP DYING! BECAUSE YOU WON'T GET ANY STRONGER THAN THIS!

I know... Stop dying, easier said than done...

But I'm not finished.

So, SQUARE ENIX kicks in, you shoot it fast and you focus only on the big words, only shoot them and shoot them as fast as you can, because that way you won't have to bother with the purple orbs so much.

3. After you reached the second SQUARE ENIX and even sometime before that you stay in the corner, in the bottom right corner or near the upper right corner and keep shooting to the left, because many little words appear and they come from above and you have to kill them fast because otherwise you can't shoot them because their bullets block your bullets.

4. My control layout is that you shoot with L1 (because I have evade on R1) and pod programs on L2 and R2.

5. You only focus on YOUR SHIP and the PURPLE ORBS among you. as you stay on the right border you don't have to bother with orbs behind you and you don't have to bother with the yellow orbs because you just shoot them away. Seriously. DON'T BOTHER WITH YELLOW ORBS AT ALL. Just focus on the purple bastard.

6. My english isn't perfect but I hope you get the idea.

I'm playing offline always, that's why I put myself to the challenge. This segment of this game is FUCKING HARD and I will do it alone and try to record it. So stay tuned and good luck yourself!

Made it up to
Special thanks
, see here: Special Thanks

Do not watch if you want to avoid spoilers.
You get another checkpoint after the second SQUARE ENIX, a third SQUARE ENIX :D

I think, I'm doing a break now, though. I want to repeat the game, because I was overleveled, this time I'm not doing sidequests.

End game spoiler stuff.

The throwbacks to Drankengard and Nier were done so well in this. Often subtle enough that it wouldn't confuse first time players but apparent enough to satisfy fans.

I lost my shit when I walked into the Library as A2.

I'm pretty much ready to put the game down for a bit now - although I maybe go back to it to clean up side quests and get the couple of weapons I seem to have missed. Such a good experience, this year just keeps delivering.

So I just got Ending K, and well... gee. Lost the last hours progress.

This is my first time with a game like this. If there are numerous endings, how should I be organizing my saves?

Lmao ending K
Jackass even warns you that you may die, largest flag ever for a Yoko Taro game. I saved right before I sampled that delicacy :D

On a different note, I remember a bonus animation where you can pet Pod. I read that it was done by using the touch pad on PS4. Well... there's no touch pad on the XBO controller. Anyway to trigger it still?

The subs are delayed/timings are off. Makes playing it in Japanese a bit harder, and yeah, some things are not subbed. It's got that freedom wars issue where announcements aren't subbed, and when you fish, you're assistant says stuff that isn't subbed. Stuff like that is a big oversight.
I noticed the delay when playing the PC version but got the impression that the PS4 demo was fine unless I'm not remembering correctly?
So is the delay the same on both versions?

yea. the subtitles are dubtitles, not Japanese translations, so they are off both timing wise and translation wise

OK, so I'm on lvl. 22 right now after 7 hours, but it seems that there has been no change on the amount of chips I could equip. Will that ever change? How?

What's interesting. If you choose to
erase your save. It does actually not erase all your save. You get a new background and the settings are still saved. Someone managed to beat the game again and sacraficing again after the first time? Would be interesting to see if the background changes yet again.

Buy storage capacity in the bunker/resistance camp.

Enjoying my first few hours with the game, at the point where you make some deliveries between two early settlements after the Amusement Park.

Don't really have a handle on Pod upgrades yet, should I worry about farming mats for Lv. 2 now? No idea where to find most of the stuff this vendor wants. Any of these programs available for purchase essential? Find myself leaning on range more than melee but starting to feel weaker and want to spend wisely.

Oh, disappointing to hear.

Also ambient voices are not subbed so you miss out on certain lines..

doesn't really matter to me cause english version is very good anyways and my preferred way of playing through the game. But its just something to watch out for for those who want to play through the whole game in Japanese

Huh. I didn't even know you could buy those. I thought the lady in the resistance camp just generated chip configs for you.

yeah, do that :p I bought out all the space first thing...even now i still don't think its enough even maxed out, there is no way to make the perfect build

Wow cool, died at a
conveyor belt during the escape from the factory
sequence, and my corpse just disappeared. Wasn't anywhere near the spot where I died.

Lost a lot of good chips. Great.

Made a bunch of progress. Fought the Amusement park boss, and it was epic!
It trying to hack me was like wtf! And then using other battle androids as weapons, wow! It was one mighty machine.

Progressed further to
Machine Village, and it was a nice pleasant area. Shit got real soon after when the Goliath attacked, and now the flooded city is exposed. Let's see where this goes.

Enemy levels increased to around 20s, and I'm still 14. So need to gain some levels now.

Btw, if anyone wants to try and see if they hear that low pitch noise near the pod, see below in the pod C location video. I could hear it pretty clearly, but it would be interesting to know if anyone here can't hear it.

Is it possible to do the things you didn't do in the previous routes? Like for instance, I'm currently playing route B, and now I can
finally unlock those hackable chests that I couldn't in route A, but will I be able to open them
in route C through E?

So, what is this autodestruction thingy on the menus?

I suspect it's going to be tied with endings, right? I can choose anything for what I see.... but I don't know what to choose lol

EDIT: Oh fuck the menu just closed off himself. Fuck you Taro lol

I died just over halfway through the beginning(demo area) and then game took me to title screen. I went with continue and and now I'm forced to do everything again including that unskipable cutescene? the hell is this crap.

maybe I choose new game by mistake.

First area doesnt have a save, you can put it on easy then change it back to normal after the opening level if you want.

There's no auto save, and you can't save until after you beat the demo boss.
