Boring and a joke of a racing game with worse controls than Daytona on Saturn. It's no wonder the studio got the fate is was handed.

Driveclub is second only to Forza Horizon 3 for my favorite racing game of the generation. I absolutely loved it and have played through all the base game and season pass and the only content I don't have yet is Bikes which I'm waiting to go on sale.

It's such an enjoyable experience and I love all the challenges each lap has; plus it's such a beautiful game. Also extra props for having my favorite driving view of all time which is in the cabin, very close to the windshield so you still get that cockpit feel but without all the wasted screen space of the dashboard.

I play arcade and simcad racing games since 1987, I played them all, from Radracer and Galeracer, to ScudRace and RaveRacer, passing by MSR and PGR2, I played them all...

All I can say is that DC is my greatest experience by far in this category.
The sense of speed, the handling, the graphics, the view, the immersion... All of these ones set a new standard.

There are some beautiful graphics in this game, near(ish) realism.
However I find it too difficult to steer and the gameplay is dreary and simply not fun.

Love the visuals, ToD, dynamic weather. Have it digitally and boot it up randomly for a time trial run through on a circuit/looped track to relax every once in a while.

Unfortunately, not a fan of the handling model, so it didn't really hook me. Might have played more if it had splitscreen.

They made it too noob friendly. When it came out you could NOT go off road with even one tire without a penalty and even the lightest tap of another vehicle. Now you can get halfway off the track and tap cars with no penalty at all.

Absolutely loved the game. Probably helped that we had/have such a great community for it on GAF including frequent contact with Rushy.

Complete shame with what happened as the game had been being supported better than any game that came before it.

Pre ordered. Couldn't play online at launch at all, like zero successful connections over a week. Asked and got a refund.

6-9 months (?) later its apparently fixed, goes on deep discount. I buy the game with season pass for like $15, it seems fun but at that point I'm really enjoying Forza 6 and Forza Horizon 2 on xbox one and while DC definitely has some stuff that it does better, I just like the forza series more. FH3 seals the deal.

End of the day I think DC is a good game and if you are into circuit racing its probably one of the best driving games in current gen, but I really, really do like the car paint customization options of Forza way more (more goofy/fun) and I was just getting too frustrated with minor mistakes in DC to truly enjoy the game. The stuff it did with weather and night time though was phenomenal, and some of the tracks looked absolutely drop dead gorgeous.

It's soulless and I don't appreciate its corridor racing. Racing games have evolved beyond funneling the player down a linear pathway long ago.

still one of the PS4's finest exclusives

I could not get into it. And I had this game from day 1.

30fps racing game is DOA for me. It just feels all wrong.

Just play it with motionflow of your tvset activated. I do it, and it plays as if I was playing it @60fps. The more the framerate is steady, the more the motion is effective. On DC, it is perfect.

Graphically is still king of racing games and lighting in general.

Gameplay and content wise it is a "good" game.

Would give it a nice 9/10 had it launched in the state is is today, but it launched like a hot mess.

I haven't put enough time into it, but that's because my initial impression is that it's a bit boring. I haven't bothered to try with my wheel setup though.

With that said, it is at least competent in every way.

Driveclub is one of my top 2 or 3 racing games ever.

The visuals are still amazing, the selection of cars was solid and I really liked all of the tracks and the driving model. The difficulty was just right for me for the top times in all of the challenges. Evolution's post launch support was as good as you can expect these days. From a pure gameplay perspective I really enjoyed it.

There were however some glaring flaws that I feel contributed to it's lack of commercial success.

-Various technical issues that persisted well past launch. I remember days where the game was not playable at all due to networking issues.

-Boring structure to the singleplayer portion of the game. They thought up all kinds of cool ideas for events and stopped at creating clever names and cool artwork. There was no kind of real progression or reason to play other than for completionists

-Barebones multiplayer. For a game that was marketed as a multiplayer experience hence the "club" part there was nothing notable about it. It was not very fun to race against randoms who would usually try to bury you at the first corner, but that isnt a problem specific to Diveclub. The limit of 6 players per club was not a good look at all either. They really missed an opportunity to do something cool with the club aspect of the game.

The only racer I've played this gen and it's great. The driving just feels so good in this and it looks beautiful. I even platted it.

I was able to enjoy it once I accepted the fact that I wasnt going to get 1st place in most races, and thats fine.

Ended up finishing the whole game and the free DLCs, now I await for the DLC to be on sale (one day, been waiting for ages)

I was never able to get used to the handling tho, specially on the faster cars, it feels really weird, Im able to jump from GT 6 to Forza/Horizon, but I just could never get used to the one in Driveclub.

I'd recommend the game specially on sale.

I thought the handling was fine, and the physics are good enough that I can get into a zone with and play intuitively. I find it relaxing, though it's still thrilling to shave seconds off the lap times.

The graphics, of course, are a huge plus, and I find the light at certain times of the day to make me nostalgic of my own driving experiences. I also LOVE playing with the extensive photo mode.

The one thing I don't really get about the game, since I don't play it online, is the whole "Club" aspect of it. From a gameplay standpoint, that entire facet of the game (and presumably the underlined part of the game) was a non-starter for me.

Did you win every event?
I don't mean get all the medals, I mean actually win them?
I refused to proceed until I actually won the event I was racing. :p
Yeah, 3 stars and a race win in every event. That includes every tour and every DLC tour (barring possibly the last one or two DLCs as I lost interest)

The AI us hilariously bad and slow. Driving feels alright. Woulda have preferred actual real world race tracks.

I enjoyed the game but it was 90% rain and snow. Really nice season pass though and post release support.

Horizon 3 is the racer of the gen for me so far though.

My favorite racer this gen as well; amazing graphics and tight, challenging gameplay. Too bad we'll never get a sequel to this gem. :-(

I tried it few times, honestly I didn't like it.

It feels poor as an arcade racer... And poor as a PGR-like game, too. Imo.

Never understood the criticism it got to be honest. Sure the online aspects didn't strictly work when it first launched but that's not all together uncommon and it hardly broke the core racing experience.

The weather update was nice but people act as though it changed the game from a 6 to a 10. Weather doesn't even feature in the core 100+ default events, with or without the update!

Tied with Horizon for me. Both offer different things but this is definitely the best track based racer of this gen.

I could have just as easily called it the The Order: 1886 of driving games. Lack of dedication to gameplay mechanics.

Oh stop it please, Daytona is a left-right racer as I used to call them. No need to brake, just turn the wheel in the good direction and release the gas pedal a bit.

Insane For Sony
Highly enjoyable game, and under the right circumstances one of the best looking things you can play today. I do wish it got a Pro update to bump the AA/resolution though.

For people complaining about 30FPS (and this also goes to those who didn't play it yet but may be discouraged due to this) keep in mind that the game has very low input lag for a 30FPS game - only around 115ms on average, which is lower than even some 60FPS games. To compare, FH2 has input lag of 150ms on average. This is kind of a huge deal for a racing game, where people care about controls the most usually.

Really nice season pass though and post release support.

Horizon 3 is the racer of the gen for me so far though.

Yeah, vanillla Driveclub before weather patch and season pass was barely ok to me, but Evo gave the game some really good legs in the end...quite enjoyed my time with it

But overall FM6 and FH3 are still untouched imo

Really dated and boring gameplay with average-to-crap AI and a flat difficulty curve until one spike at the end. Handling model was questionable, with everything except braking being simlike, whereas the braking was stupidly arcadey. DLC was even easier than the main game. Courses were mostly forgettable, and overall the game exists in the shadows of more illustrious forebearers such as PGR2.
