Happened the same to me, finished the game without scanning Red Eyed Watchers and Rockbreakers despite fighting them. Make the connection in that moment since I knew I fought them.

Turn off stealth indicator as well, find no use for itSet the Hud custom, turn off the compass and leave everything else dynamic.
Also turn off the 2 Waypoint and Dynamic marker settings
Pretty sure the gate only opens at night (which seems odd choice). You'll need to head there at nightfall. If it's shut head away for a bit then back.
I had same issue: only time I wished for ability to just set game time.
Once it's open you just stroll up.

Anyway to turn off the onscreen waypoint marker? I turned off the two options in the menu but it didn't affect it. I'd prefer to just have a marker on the compass.

110% agree.
I wish you could fire some type of "leading arrow" or something that would direct them to attack, but also acknowledge that once I overrode a Stormbird, i'd pretty much stroll through the rest of the game, so I'm not sure how they'd balance that.
Love AI systems interacting like that though.

I love the HDR but occasionally the realism makes certain interiors a bit too dark. Just me?

Maybe change the games brightness settings?
Mine can be dark, but then you have that awesome light pierce through...especially in Cauldrons.

What am I gonna do now?
The game was probably my favorite game since The Last Of Us.
I loved every second of it.
Pretty sure this going to be my Goty. I played enough Zelda already to know that its unlikely to beat Horizon for me. I just love myself a good story and good combat. Zelda has other strengths, though.
And because I loved it so much I'm going to tell you all the things I didn't like or missed in the game xD
Basically all the things I want improved in the next installment.
-Flying mounts
-better water visuals (+true water based machines)
-FOV in cities/settlements was too narrow. I always felt weird when entering a settlement.
-Human AI wasn't good.
-I wish more machines would roam the world in herds and herds were bigger and move about more.
-When aiming at flying enemies the grass often got in the way of the camera. Theres gotta be a way to fix that.
-Make climbing more open.(a bit zelda like) It was so frustrating to encounter ledges there were just slightly to high to jump on... so stupid.
-Cauldrons needs to be better. The first two were okay, the rest seemed a bit rushed.
-The TOD change at dusk and dawn were a little weird. Within a just a few minutes the lighting changed drastically. That could be smoother.
Those are basically all my nitpicks with the game.
PS:
Hoping for Forbidden West DLC.
Maybe we can even play as Sylens.

I don't have a HDR TV but I think I read it depends on the TV's peak luminance leaves, if they are are on the low side this happens. I could be recalling wrong and I'm not really experienced with hdr.
Try completing it without installing any mods at all.

So after 85 hours, I have platinumed the game. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game, exploring the world and the culture set within it, and Aloy. Aloy was such a joy and I'm glad I got to see her grow in her quest for knowledge. Guerrilla did a fantastic job on the first Operation world game. I look forward to how they plan on expanding the game into a series going forward. I'd rate it 9.5.
Like one or two missions.

Fast travel to the campfire at Mother's Watch, then run to the bridge to the north, go over it, and return back to the gate. It should be open.

I think they patched that issue in 1.04. You just need to go at night.
