Like both JonTron's reaction and the defense of him is something I could see reasonable coming from a kid or a teenager. The whole "He's just dumb, he doesn't know any better" completely falls apart when you remember the dude is fucking 27. He's long past the emotional development stage where you can just write off his actions as "well, he's just going through a phase."

You guys don't get it. Gamergate actually was about ethics in journalism. I know you've been saying it wasn't because Gamergate's supporters ignored the Shadow of Mordor astroturfing in favour of a making fun of a supposed feminist criticism that they didn't realize was just a joke, but they actually didn't because I revealed the Shadow of Mordor astroturfing. And I'm a member of Gamergate supporter. I know that I've been calling myself neutral until this point but I think the things I did when I was claiming not to be part of that movement speak for everyone else in the movement.

I remember his first statement on the matter being along the lines of "Now I'm not saying the allegations against Zoe Quinn are true. But here's a 30 minute discussion about the grave implications for the industry if they are". At that point it was already very obvious that they weren't too.
I think the more hardcore ones fled. I know I did. His subreddit apparently was flooded with posts calling him out.
The jump is probably from the alt-right lining up to become new fans.

Good points. That's what I see as the problem, JT is the content with his personality, and I can't seperate the two (the fact I only recently found out the nasty stuff doesn't help).
All I can say is, I unsubscribed for now... I enjoyed his content but cant support a bigot/racist.

I agree. It's the only way I can reconcile the hypocrisy for defending JT's right to be a bigot and have an open dialogue whilst condemning Gizmondo for reporting it.
YouTubers get to have a dialogue, not traditional games media.
TB's true north is to shit on a lot of the games media. He'll tether himself to whoever he needs to to do that, even if the underlying issue is agnostic to that (sexism in Gamergate, racism with JT).

Yup, it's really disappointing. H3 was the one that called out Syndicate & Tmartynfor the CSGO gambling scandal as well. Which of course led to little, to no repercussions for both of them & of course are back to their normal YouTube lives. Most have forgotten about it or brushed it off by now as well. Same thing will probably happen to Jon & it seems he's getting even less flak from the big YouTubers, sadly.

They wouldn't have to delay the game to replace a couple of lines of dialogue.
Not only that, but all characters in the game speak nonsense. Just grunts and stuff. Replacing it should not be difficult, if they were so inclined.
I have asked them on Twitter but I feel that we have a better chance of getting answers if multiple people did it. I'm also trying their email. Their official forums are here but I'm not sure if they even check those.
If Arin had such a big issue with Jon I don't think he would have collaborated with him after the split.
I'm not saying Arin shares or condoned his beliefs but concluding that he split from him because of them is kind of baseless considering he was on Jon's show back when he was doing the Star Wars videos maybe a year or so back.
I think it's safe to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he didn't know it was like this though.

i remember reading white nationalist and hbd blogs after the charleston shooting (i love pain). the standard article was basically a small, lukewarm at best paragraph of "well, i wish he handled this a little differently..." and then a mountain of polemics about all the "legitimate grievances" the shooter had and how we should care about that more than the violence

Probably because he doesn't think his views are all that extreme. People like Jontron tend to surround themselves with like-minded content, which can completely change someone's moral compass.

Idk if you know this but iirc Joe Reddifer has said some unsavory things regarding women/diversity in gaming at a panel at a con (if I remember it correctly it was something dealing with sexualized women but I can't remember for sure). I can't seem to find the clip or source though.

ive seen him a bit reckless online before, but never about those topics (women or diversity in gaming, though i'd not be surprised if he's gonna be fine with sexualized women in games). if you do find something specific, feel free to post it!

Boogie and TB have always been horrible. And I don't think I've ever watched a JonTron video.
Boogie has this strong desire to appease others to appease himself so it's in his own self preservation he doesn't want to offend anyone. But because of this, he has no stance on hardline issues, he often shows no moral code or ethics because he wants to remain neutral and is terrified of possible backlash.
