So, the Battle of Jakku is the prolly the most important plot point in the franchise that hasn't been filmed, yes? Effing *everything* went down there.

From around the OT yes especially in terms of battles.

Obviously there are other major plot points not on film in the time between the Battle of Jakku and episode VII. Plus there are thousands of years in the Prequel area and earlier.

The idea for the film came from ILM's Jon Knoll and he pitched it to Kathy Kennedy, Kiri Hart and some of the other higher-ups at Lucasfilm, so you can't really blame Disney.

The story was never really going to be 'necessary' being a prequel, but I enjoyed it a lot. The third act was a rollercoaster and I'm looking forward to a rewatch when it's out on Blu-Ray.

Jakku, imo, is the best and only real creatively effective world building that's on par with the OT in TFA That sideways shot of Rey on her speeder is classic.

Hopefully they continue to go in that sort of creative direction in the next two films, mixed with new ideas and concepts.

I thought it was pretty good at the time. My initial reaction to the
fight at the end
was underwhelmed but after matching this week's Rebels Recon, it totally makes sense. In the end, I think it may be my second favourite episode of the show after the S2 finale.

I'm on mobile and lazy but I can summarise. Pablo's point was that
what Obi-wan said is from his perspective so it may not actually be correct. I took it to mean that he saw Anakin fail and now believes Luke to be the chosen one. I don't think that just because Kenobi believes it, that it's true. I mean sure, he could also be right and they're just starting to reveal this new information but what Pablo stated makes me think it's just what Kenobi now believes.

I can't see them retconning it. From Obi-Wan's perspective, how could he still see Anakin as the chosen one after what he did? His hopes are with Luke, not Anakin.

EW have another article on Rogue One with some BTS scenes of Vader. It's well worth a read.

As many of us predicted, originally Krennic was going to go out after being force choked by Vader.

Had the filmmakers continued pursuing this storyline, Krennic would have been recovered along with presumably other valuable artifacts belonging to the Empire's special weapons division.

”He survived the blast and they pulled him up and brought him to the Star Destroyer to report to Vader," Whitta says. ”He's all beat up, his cape's all torn up and stuff, and he thinks he has survived."

Except this time, Vader isn't just wielding deadly puns.

Krennic thinks he has endured. He thinks he has served valiantly for the Emperor. He thinks he has done everything right, everything within his power ... right up until an unseen force squeezes off the air in his throat.

”Vader kills him for his failure," Whitta says.

It made no sense for Krennic to survive the Death Star blast and it was a lot more satisfying watching him be killed by the weapon he'd devoted so much of his life to. I think they made the right choice personally. Vader had his moment in the finale.

Ahmed took the job thinking he would play someone else.

“His name was Bokan, and he was actually Saw Gerrera’s engineer, living on a planet with a strong electromagnetic field, which meant that electronics were never working,” Ahmed says. “He was actually an Imperial engineer who had been kidnapped and kind of had Stockholm Syndrome. He had been living there for so long, he kind of lost it, like Dennis Hopper in Apocalypse Now.”

Bokan was still a key to unlocking the Death Star’s weakness, so he was sought by both heroes and villains alike. The moon Gerrera was using as a hideout protected their little crew of insurgents from all search parties, and the Rebel team led by Jyn Erso originally wrecked its U-wing trying to track them down.

“We knew we needed to ditch the U-Wing and get them on that Imperial shuttle that they used at the end. In the finished film, you see that scene happen on Eadu,” says Gary Whitta, who worked on the early screenplays.

Just listened. It was good.

I think R1's climax lost some impact for me because I had guessed they would all die. I was legit surprised at the Vader part because I'm cynical and didn't think they would actually do it, so ya that part was crazier for me than anything in ROTJ's climax, but on the whole, ROTJ continues to have a bigger impact on me. I'll see if my view changes after repeated viewings over many years.

I have way much to do before Celebration. Have to find all of my turtle's outfits and decide which ones he's taking, I need to buy an Ahsoka shirt, figure out what I need for the overnights, see what FP+ are left for the two days we're blitzing WDW beforehand, need more info on exclusives so I can make an accurate list of what my BF is stuck buying for me since I'll be spending my life in line for panels.

Visions and Voices
Ghosts of Geonosis
Trials of the Darksaber
Legacy of Mandalore
Twin Sunset

The first half are the ones that have more "lore" related stuff, the second half are more plot related but with some stuff sprinkled in. There's nothing really like the season 2 finale though.

thank you! I watched all of Season 2, but honestly...I just can't stand some of the characters and I'm not a fan of the art design. But I like the story stuff, so that's great to know :D
