Looking good! I've never actually used remote play with my Vita, for those who have does it work well enough for this type of gameplay? This game really demands to be portable imo.

I want to play that!

When is this supposed to come out again? I'm really out of loop with Square's awful release schedule.

Nice low key port beg.
Everything we've seen so far from this game looks great. I hope the re touched soundtrack is treated with care.
No, no... more... wishful thinking. ;) I'll have it on any platform, but being a huge game with hunts and grind it'd make a neat portable game. For now, yay, PS4.

With you on the soundtrack. Though to be honest, just hearing the actual original game version after hearing the soundtrack so lot feels weird. Just hope they don't take as many creative liberties as with the FF10 remaster, the Besaid track doesn't feel like same song at all.

I like how Penelo gets sidelined after the first battle lmao
Nobody puts baby in a corner.

30fps or 60? I know the YouTube video is in 30, but curious if that was just how they captured it.

Also, that new music sounds fantastic.

My top 3 favorite FF along with VII and VI.

I only ever played FFX (loved it). Will I like this game?

This is totally different from FFX so hard to say. I guess Xenoblade is the closest thing to FFXII if you have played that. KOTOR plays a bit similarly as well combat wise.

I feel like this isn't getting much hype :/

Well it is only a HD remaster of an old game. Many here have probably already played IZJS in HD (PC) so there's not really anything new here.

While I'm sure it sold decent enough, I always felt like the game wasn't terribly well received by that opinionated Internet community in general. "lol gambits", "vaan!" etc. Plus, well, it's a remaster of a PS2 game. I think they'd do well to focus on ZJA and Remaster changes in their promotional material.

This is also coming out 3 weeks or so after FFXIV: Stormblood...

Hmm, I'm not that much of a fan of the depth of field (and motion blur?) this has, since I'd much prefer it looking sharp, but the other enhancements look really good. Can't wait to play it.

Absolutely loved that game and managed to play the IZJS version too. I wasnt expecting much but does it change the way you play the game towards the end.

Having designated healers and mages really helped fight the problem where you can basically finish the game with only half of the party like I did the first time where my main party was in their 60s and my alt party was around 25.

Eagerly awaiting this on PC!

I loved Xenoblade Chronicles... If FFXII has a good story I could be hooked.

It has more of a grand scheme of things and political power struggle type story than the personal impact type story of FFX. And the initial character you play doesnt mean much to the story once the whole party gets together.

I personally liked it but I can't really say if you would. It has a boat load of side missions tho.

It's getting to the point where I already wish games like this, Peraona 5, etc were coming to Switch. It's 2017 and I can't play all the games in my bed. Such a travesty.

It's extremely light on story. Theres nothing in the plot that will keep you wanting to keep going to see what happens, it's more of a world builder.
This game is all about gameplay. If you like it it's great, if you don't then there's nothing here for you.

I dont agree with this. Plot is sparse (compared to rpgs.. its not mgs v level) and unevenly paced but whats there is awsome.

Not my intention o star a war but I might... I think this game looks better than Berseria, enviroments at least.
I understand that there might be an enormous budget difference but still.

Is there a list of stuff that is changed for the remaster? I'm not talking original to international version. I was thinking of just trying the game again on PCSX2 since it looks great. I never really appreciated it when it released but maybe I could now.

The story is a point of contention among FF fans, it's political and the main party isn't really active in it, they are mostly on their own quests (which usually include finding some mythical relics). It's intriguing and more realistic than your standard FF fare, but a big criticism the game gets is that the characters end up a bit underdeveloped since the game doesn't focus that much on them and some characters don't seem to have any motivation to keep on with their journey.

The world is fantastic though. If you're a fan of big, richly-detailed worlds with lore spewing out of every corner, you'll love XII. As far as I'm concerned it's one of those game worlds you don't want to end, just walking through the streets of Rabanastre is an experience of its own, it's the most alive FF world by a country mile and doing the copious amounts of side content never felt tiring. Can't wait to get into this game in june.

Always wanted to play it when I was a kid.
It's very different from X. IMO XII is the superior game, but there is a pretty huge diversity of opinions when it comes to FF games.

This game's story is like a mix between Star Wars and Game of Thrones, and has very little of the anime-style melodrama and campiness you'd find in most JRPGs.

Battles play out in real time. Your characters act automatically based on your programming (called Gambits), but you can manually jump in at any time and issue commands. Some people loved this system and others hated it. I personally loved it.

It also has tons of big areas to explore. Completely different from X where you were mostly confined to narrow paths with a branch here and there.

Unlike most FF games, XII's soundtrack wasn't done by Nobuo Uematsu. Instead they got the composer from FF Tactics. It has a much different feel to it. It's not as catchy but it feels a lot more epic.

I use remote play for 90% of my ps4 gaming, even when I am 10 ft away from my console. I play GTA, Skyrim, Devil May Cry, and other action games, and I few they work very well. I love it, and I don't have problems with any of the different control schemes. With the gameplay of FFXII, I would say it's a perfect fit.

Ff12 looks better to me than any tales since graces f but that just may be the artstyle i dunno. Thats when they started shifting towards semi realstic environments and better textures.
In that respect yeah, 12 kills it at least when played on an emulator.
It can easily pass for a good looking ps3 rpg. Zestiria and b3rseria look especially ugly to me. Battle effects are awful and environment detail is just... Ugh.

Call nintendo.
To take the portbegging cue, games that those that seemingly have no technical reason for not beeing on the Switch but aren't are the main reason I'm not sold on the console. I personaly don't care for the vast majority of Nintendo 1st parties, but very much do for this kind of game. It's up for nintendo to create a good environment for them, not a place where they play second fiddle to their 1st parties and flagship exclusives (monster hunter et all).
Koei is only bringing a quarter of what they're bringing to PS4, Bamco is MIA, Capcom is lol, Squeenix is throwing the odd port, etc.

FFXII was a late gen PS2 game that really suffered from the hardware. Being in HD brings out a lot of detail that were barely able to be seen in the original. Also, the production values are much higher that Berseria's

I tried the demo and it felt like a really old game, it's a shame because people says it's good but... it has to be more than that for me to pay what it cost considering all the games that came this year. I mean I spent $60 on Gravity Rush 2, couldn't afford another $60 for Berseria or buy it instead of GR2... no way.

Anyway, FFXII... I always wanted to replay it, one of my favourite FF, if there's nothing big coming around that time, I'll buy it... even if they steal me $50.
