$60 * 206,249 * 0.7 = $8.66 million.

I imagine that's around half the budget of the full game recouped on just the PC version already.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Platinum's engine is probably a lot easier for them to tweak on a foundational level. From what I can tell this is similar to the Revengeance engine, just modified.

One of the reasons game companies use their own internal engines is so they can tweak things all the way up. You need to really dig through something like UE4 comparatively and it's not even developed inhouse, and you don't have the same sort of experience, say, Epic has working on its own engine.

I guess it comes down to what they can get better performance out of going forward, but using this engine to design an open world game didn't work out too well this time.

Glad to be part of these numbers. First non-Nintendo game I've ever bought at launch that I didn't regret. The port isn't perfect, but the fact that I can look past it speaks volumes about the game itself.

to be fair, lots of people didn't spend that much between regional pricing and places like GMG carrying it.

Human Revolution sold some amount way over 200k on Steam its first week, iirc.

Well, as I said, the new ones. Also, was Steamspy already around when HR is out?

If they got it from Green Man though, Green Man's sales come from them eating their own margin, which is why the deals are always less than 30% (which is the extent of the digital retailer margin).

SHIT SQUARE ENIX if they don't already have Taura on lock for Yoko Taro's next project.

That duo could be the next Straley/Druckmann.

Assuming that most people bought the game on Steam and I don't think thats the case there.

I certainly hope they learn from this. Other companies seem to have gotten the hint so it's about time SE does too, and stops with this late port nonsense.

And this is despite SE being so mum about the PC version prior to release.

It's a genuine masterpiece and I can't wait to play it again before the year is over.

I think Taro and PG will be back soon.

It is extremely obnoxious how people keep insisting on this.
For the sake of your sanity, MSAA should be forever disabled on all default presets 😁

Maybe SE will understand now that double dippers market doesnt exist and that you dont want to miss launch marketing hype.
Why people insist every late port is due to double-dipping? it could be resourcing and bandwidth limitations.

Very impressive. Very happy to see it's doing well commercially as well as critically. Well deserved.

Looking forward to seeing total numbers across all platforms and regions.

I mean, it has other issues. Some of those niggles have been corrected with FAR. The other issues stem from their rather weak engine. So it isn't a port problem the engine affects all versions.

So before even counting non-Japanese PS4 sales for the game, it's already over 500k. That's pretty sweet. They should have shipped over a million worldwide by now. Biggest Yoko Taro game by a landslide?
