The new IFC comedy 'Brockmire' is getting great reviews so far. Sepinwall is even comparing it to Catastrophe and You’re the Worst.

Which is weird because I watched the trailer for it the other day and thought it looked awful.

Sepinwall spent 2 episodes pimping it. I assume the charm comes from Hank Azaria though.

Good for them. Maron is done and Portlandia is over next year. They need another smash hit that only alt comedy fans watch. #BringBackGarfunkelAndOates

I think almost everything on IFC comes to Netflix pretty quickly. I'll probably wait unless the buzz becomes deafening.

So MIPTV is underway and it's... dull? I mean it's always a bit dull since it is sort of is a big upfront mixed with TED talks. But I don't know, maybe it's more things that doesn't appeal to my particular tastes, maybe it's an off year, or maybe it's the frustration of trying follow it on twitter this year because there are hundreds of Turkish twitter bots shitting up everything. Who knows.

As usual there were the always insightful talks from "digital first" companies (this year courtesy of go90):

And really stupid reality TV formats:

And before we continue on and I eventually end up being profane, let's take a wholesome Christian break so that God doesn't smite me:

Anyway there wasn't a lot of interesting (or well, more accurately interesting to the people who frequent this thread) key arts but The Terror is looking great:

And don't worry, I know my audience so here it is (I actually had to put in effort this time around to find it):

(to be a bit nicer towards the folks at Caracol after bashing them for over a year for that stupid fucking show, they also offer The Wall which admittedly doesn't look good but it is interesting to see their take on that stupid fucking wall)

PureFlix is getting into the game? I do feel that the religious market has been mostly left untapped, so it'll be interesting to see how it does for them. I think Netflix would do well to get into that market, actually.

Terror looks great, its based on a story by Dan Simmons who wrote the Hyperion cantos which is pretty beloved by sci fi fans too.

I need my nautical/pirate fix now that Black Sails has ended (and it ended beautifully).

"the white slave" haha wtf does blood is the same color mean even...

I know we've talked about it before, but this is the first original TV programming from them.
The key art for The Terror is great!
And Jared Harris is looking very spiffy in that uniform.
at what point will they stop trying to sell the white slave
In fairness it is a TV market and displaying your back catalogue is par for the course, they didn't buy any ad space for it in the trade magazines.

- ‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings Hit 5-Year Finale Low With Season 7 Ender
The Season 7 finale of The Walking Dead certainly wasn’t riding on TV easy street on a Sunday that saw the return of WrestleMania, a steady Academy of Country Music Awards on CBS, the season-high-hitting Big Little Lies finale on HBO and the series finale of Black Sails on Starz.

The nearly 90-minute “The First Day Of The Rest of Your Life” episode of The Walking Dead on April 2 snagged 11.3 million total viewers and 7.1 million among adults 18-49 for a 5.9 rating. While up 7% in total audience over its March 26 show and rising 10% in the key demo, the finale directed by executive Greg Nicotero dropped 20% in viewers and 14% in 18-49s from the Season 6 finale of April 3, 2016 – which saw double-digit declines from TWD’s all-time finale high of Season 5.

With all that competition Sunday night, the Live+3 results for AMC’s zombie apocalypse blockbuster might tell us the real reach of the April 2 season ender for the show based on Robert Kirkman’s comics. AMC should hope so: The Season 7 viewership and demo results are the third lowest in the show’s history behind the 5.97 million of the short Season 1 in 2010 and the 8.99 million of Season 2’s March 18, 2012 finale. Demo-wise, Sunday’s TWD is the third worst rating the show has seen, with the 3.0 and the 4.7 for the Seasons 1 & 2 enders delivering lower ratings.

Last year in L+3, the finale grew 30% viewership and 32% in the demo over L+SD.

Already renewed for a Season 8 that’s expected to debut this fall, don’t get too down in the end-of-civilization dumps for TWD. The show is still easily this season’s top-rated series on TV, both broadcast and cable, with a massive edge on the likes of The Big Bang Theory, Empire and breakout newbie This Is Us.

Not a good Monday

Not a good monday at all

I guess NCAA finals will do that

The clock is about to run out for 24: Redemption.

Another revival starts tonight...Prison Break! Any predictions?

I'm gonna say:

Prison Break - 1.2

I'm skeptical that many people actually care that it's coming back. But who knows.

I liked the show and honest I forgot it was back tonight. I've seen no real buzz on social media...

Have Mondays in general just been barren lately? I can always find something to watch on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, but never Mondays lately.

But its dense mythology, solid +30%+ L3 DVR gains and steady viewership, an indication that the show has built a small but devoted fan base, made Falling Water a solid binge prospect for a streaming service

I think you going to see this more and more often. Networks selling they have dedicated audiences instead of big ones.

The walking dead fandom has been fascinating this year, i think there has been a noticeable change since the Dumpster incident.

I'm going a 0.9 for Prison Break. This is one redux'd series too far.

I wonder how 24 Legacy is doing for Fox internationally? At this point, without a big Amazon or Netflix output deal, it's all about the foreign sales.

I've been watching this on CBC and it has been really good so far. The actress they got for Anne is perfect, she cracks me up in nearly every scene. Surprisingly funny show too.

Boring trailer, but they're probably trying to sell it to the Hallmark Channel types. I hope it does well. Unless this season collapses into itself like Flesh & Bone did, I'd love to see another season of Anne.

Unless I'm mistaken,
a major, well-liked character and also a guy who shot himself fell into a crowd of zombies, and the main character was seen being feasted upon by the horde. Episode ends.

But wait! It wasn't his torso the zombies were eating and he somehow managed to scoot himself to safety under a dumpster and just wait for the horde to get bored and wander off or something.

You forgot the best part. Said character
then dies like 8 episodes later anyways

She really does seem to nail the part.

The trailer does make it look like a comfort food type show. But hey, we need those too.

I'm probably going to abandon my irreverence towards the show now, I mean I always thought that it would turn out just fine but the contrast between this and Walley-Beckett's previous work was too amusing. Might even retire the drudge siren.

We'll see. Season 1 could end with a zoom in to Anne's nightstand, showing a bottle of medically prescribed heroin. Lol

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
The blame for the dumpster scene rests squarely with the fans of the show. The way the scene is composed makes it very obvious that
the other guy fell on top of him. Even the placement of the torso being ripped open makes no sense without Glenn's chest being twice the size as normal.

You don't have to like it. You can think it's cheap and poor storytelling, but it's also just yet another bit of BS the show is built on and not something show-endingly egregious. If you're fine with any of Ninja Zombie deaths over the course of literally every episode of every season, this is not the bridge too far.

Bingo. Also they handled it weird on the talking dead.

To be fair, I dropped the show way before that happened and decided to stick to the comics. My post calling it egregious was in regards to what I read about it in the gaf thread at the time, a youtube clip and how it was handled in the marketing (still keep up with news and impressions about the show because those can be pretty entertaining).

There were three full episodes of the show before they went back and resolved that storyline. And they even removed the name of the actor in the opening credits during that time.

But sure, the fans are the ones to blame.

Being easily manipulated is the Fan's problem, though. I'm not some seer but I knew enough about the mechanics of the show to know that he wasn't actually dead.

It's like people thought they were watching a prestige drama up until that moment and that it suddenly, out of nowhere, became schlock. It was always there. It's part of the show's DNA.
