The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT3| Your Free Time is Badly Damaged

Who here has disabled Urbosa's Fury? That rune is freaking overpowered, makes most engagements boring as hell with it's incredibly long stun duration and range.

Speaking of Runes which one's your favourite? I think Revali's gale is a god send.

After 200 hours, I noticed something that blew my mind. While rainbows are not common enough to have tested it multiple times, since I only thought to look for it recently:

In real life, your shadow always points to the top of a rainbow. Had a rainbow last night and Link's shadow pointed directly toward the top.

Look out for this, because I really don't want it to be a coincidence.

Edit: I will take screenies next time. Rainbow was very short-lived last night.

I disabled every rune as soon as I got them, seemed too OP. The only one I've tested one time was Revali's Gale.

I disable everything but Revali's gale. The shield looks visually annoying to me. Urbosa's and Mipha's is overpower.

Plus none of them encourage exploration really. Unlike Revali's that makes exploring easier and fun. Although I never use it in battle. I think it's cooler to light grass on Fire and use that updraft

Jesus christ, I've fought seemingly everything in Hyrule Castle (including Ganon), and I can't find the last fucking memory.

Pay attention to the picture. You can identify the general position and what kind of structure you should be looking for. For a little tip
it's near a Diary

I looked it up, and no, I don't think I could've found it from the picture.

I'd already been to
Zelda's room
a couple different ways, and the castle is pretty... different.... from the picture.

It's just outside of
Zelda's room. When you're looking at Hyrule Castle, it's a spire/tower that is off to the side with a catwalk/bridge connecting to it. The memory spot is on that.

From the picture you know it is close to a tower on the left side
So I just went to the towers starting from the left. It's the second or third one if I'm not mistaken

Finished the game yesterday and got all shrines and I didn't know that it is not possible to fully upgrade both your stamina and your hearts. Thats pretty shitty tbh.

I realized it was kind of pathetic that I've found, what, 80-ish shrines and yet not even that many Korok Seeds, so I went out of my way to search for some tonight.

Three forests full of Korok Seeds in south Ridgeland later and I thought, "Wow, look at me. I'm finding these things all over the place. I'm going to all sorts of locations I wouldn't otherwise, like that tree there. And that tree over there. And that rock."

"If I keep this up I'm going to lose my ever-loving mind."

Fucking hell, nearly finished with the game and I just figured out, by accident, that you can press Y to sort your inventory.

It also sorts differently each time you press it. Eg for armour you press and it sorts all headgear together, then all chest pieces etc. Press again and it groups armour together into full sets

In lanelin village (can't remember the spelling but
the on in the SE corner of the map
), there is a gerudo walking around wishing
she had wings - with wings in red
. What am I supposed to do? Doesn't trigger a side quest so is it like some others where inneed to trigger it somewhere else and it joins up?

Probably will be possible once the DLC hits?

Yeah, that could be true. I just hate not having the possibility o max out everything.^^

Besides that this game was the best I ever played. The feelings I got while playing is unmatched and something I didnt feel since I was a kid. Outstanding. :)

Over 150 hours into the game - having defeated three divine beasts, unlocked every region and completed nearly 100 shrines - I realised last night there was a chunk of map I had barely explored.

The islands on the very right of the map (Tingel and co) had completely escaped my attention. Decided to explore them and find a shrine and a bunch of koroks.

Revisiting areas I hadn't searched in depth was a theme of my play last night. Spent the session wandering around 'filling in' areas of the map I had previously bypassed. Found at least 20 Koroks in my few hours of playing, taking my total above 220. I'm up to 95 Shrines now, with the whole of the Rito Village area and Hebra still to search in greater depth, four identified shrines around the world and two incomplete shrine quests.

Oh, and I had my first encounter with a Molduga. Defeated two in succession. Also defeated two white-maned Lynels with more ease than ever before.

Still cannot get enough of this game. I'll probably be pushing 300 hours by the time I defeat Ganon.

Holy fuck what, I've been playing for who knows how long, already beaten the game, and I just discovered Lurelin VIllage. This fucking game man, I feel bad for abandoning Persona 5 after 15 hours for this though, but I can't stop playing!

I find it strange that people discover it late. It's signposted on main roads.

I have barely travelled on the roads at all so don't think I have found it either.

*starts game and climbs every mountain and Tower in sight*

*100 hours in, spends all the time looking at every tree and under every rock*

I found
Lurelin
village very early into the game. I even went first time to
Eventide
Island when I had 4 hearts.

Now I ventures into that forest/island where
it's fucking dark
and I'm wandering around like a headless chicken. I beat the
Hinox and took his ball,
but I have no idea where is the base to put that.

So regarding the timeline...

I think this takes place in an alternate Adult Timeline. This is what was bound to happed hadn't Zelda meddled with time. We could call it Original Timeline.
At the end of OoT Zelda sends link back to the past, removing the Hero from this timeline. As for TWW backstory some times after that Ganon escapes from the Sacred Realm but there's no Hero around anymore and so the Goodnesses flood Hyrule. If Zelda hadn't sent Link back in time, the Hero of Time (or a descendant of him) would have been able to stop Ganon, grating Hyrule an era of pace. Some millennia after that Breath of the Wild would have happened.

This explains why we have plenty of references to OoT adult ending, but no meaty references to TWW, TP or ALTTP. This explanation also works with Zelda established multi-universe (Zelda re-writes the timeline by removing Link, but the original timeline is “still around” so-to-speak).

Every other placement doesn't really work:
- Adult Timeline: Well, Hyrule isn't flooded in BotW. TWW and ST imply the old Hyrule is gone for good.
- Child Timeline: Ruto and Nabooru are remembered as Sages who fought against Ganon, which didn't happen in this timeline. Riju also mentions that Ganon “took a Gerudo form once”: in this timeline Ganon “took a Gerudo form” at least twice (FSA features a different Ganondorf).
- Downfall Timeline: The Zora tablet about the final battle at the end of Ocarina of Time mentions an Hero, obviously the Hero of Time. But he died in that battle and he's not remembered anymore in ALTTP (which says no hero worth of the Master Sword was around). Also the various races are extinct in Hyrule in this timeline.

It should be just after where you beat him. Unfortunately the battle can cause you to move away from that point. Maybe drop the ball and mark it, then you can use a torch to find the hole, then go back to get the ball. You shouldn't have gone too far.

I actually dropped the ball and marked it and took a torch, but I guess I ventured way too far from that. I will try again tonight. I was playing in handheld mode on the plane and that wasn't helping my orientation either, hopefully it will be better on the big screen.

I remember it being in a straight line from the route that you entered.

So I know sneakstrikes are stronger than normal attacks and not guaranteed kills but is there random variance? I was going through the Y
iga clan hideout
and sneakstrike ones of the gaurds killing them in one hit. I'm sure I had the same weapon equipped and sneakstrike a second guard and I do about 20% to them
and then the alarm is sounded and one hit KO game over lol...yeah I guess I'll try using bananas as the NPC hinted
Edit: apparently I'm not doing "proper" sneakstrikes (whatever that means) and they are scripted OHKOs.

This doesn't really help but when
I found the Hinox I could see where to put the ball and it was glowing and I think it had torches lits too
. Still regarding that section I was surprised
they didn't have the map fail like it does in sandstorms
.

I've spent very little time on the main roads lol.
Me neither. I usually climb to the highest point of an area I've already discovered and glide to the tower of a new, nearby region. I then spot nearby shrines from the tower and glide to them.

I've since gone back and traveled on horseback between these regions and discovered whole new experiences.

I still have 5 side quests to go after finishing the game, I have been talking to every single person, visiting all the stables and towns for the last three days with no luck of triggering a single side quest. I have no idea where else I can go :(

I like the entire series but never cared about the timeline stuff, but I heard somewhere the Leviathan skeletons are called Whale Skeletons in japanese. How the hell a whale would be in a desert or volcanic area unless it was once flooded?

Did you go to the lakes
in the shape of a heart? there is a full and a broken one
there is one that might be easy to miss too
you have to follow a letter throw in the river, follow the zora river and you should find someone.

There is a woman at hateno that tells you she grew in lurelin. You can even find her father at lurelin who asks you about her.

They could be Levias, the Ocean King and the Wind Fish. The skeleton near
the Death Mountain
strongly reassembles Levias

Over 170 hours into the game, almost done completely upgrading my Armor, but I'm going to be really short on
Topaz or Opal, I forget which. I think the WW Tunic requires 15 for each piece of Armor to upgrade.
Getting
Star Fragments
isn't much of an issue since I found that good farming maneuver.

I'd like some kind of heat map to show where I've been and how much time I've spent, so I can identify areas I missed or skipped over

Yeah, already done with those two side quests.

I think (unfortunately, IMO) that a lot of things in this game are just fun references to other titles in the series with little to no regard for what actually makes sense timeline-wise. Just a simple thing like the impossibility of there being even a trace left of Lon Lon Ranch 10,000+ years after the events of OoT. But there it is. In ruin sure, but still with some standing structures. Maybe it isn't really Lon Lon at all canon-wise, just a fan-service reference made to very strongly resemble it. And that could be the case with many things.

EDIT: I guess there's nothing that explicitly says the "10,000 years ago" happened after OoT though. It's possible that OoT, WW/TP, and maybe other games actually happened during that time span, and the reason nobody talks about it is that it was forgotten until it was for some reason rediscovered closer to when BotW takes place. Or would that not make sense for some other reason?

Well, if a certain area is suspiciously free of shrine and Korok icons you have probably not spent much time there, as those seem pretty evenly spread across the map.

I've yet to find this village. Man this game is huge.

Also, I forgot threads get moved to community after x amounts of days. I was wondering why I could no longer find it under gaming :)

No one should take the timeline literally. Each game is a "Legend" after all. That gives them more than enough room to do whatever they want with back story.

I'm still surprised to go through areas where I haven't gone through, despite having 100% already (I'm trying to upgrade all of my armor now. So close, yet so far).

Imo the sneakiest Koroks are the ones in Death Mountain. Much harder to find than other regions.

Just need to farm bokoblins for armour upgrades but half of the bastards are silver at this stage, and their weapon drops don't compensate for using good weapons on them. So I'm going in with relatively poor weapons and then picking up their drops to use on others in the group.

Any particular areas that are rich in bokoblins?

Also anyone know what 'increased guardian defence' means in numbers? I can't afford the ancient armour as I spent all my cash on the last fairy but I might be able to get max hyrule gear

Is there anything else to do in Lurelin aside from the one shrine quest and the gambling game?

There were at least two side/shrine quests
clearing a fishing beach
and
finding fragments of a monument
. That last one nearly sent me round the bend - I couldn't find them anywhere
