Persona 5 |OT2| Someone must have been helping you go to bed early. Talk!

A legend.

You know what. I'm gonna finally play FES after this. I beat the original p3, bought fes, been dusty on the bookshelf for the past 5 years.

With the "announcement" of PQ2, it my now be the time to actually finish that one. I am probably not even at the halfway point though. xD

I'm with you, the game don't really respect player time in general that's why I'm so happy to go back to classic game like Dragon quet 8 XD
Otherwise Persona 5 is an imrpouvement on many aspects but unfortunaly none were strong enough to make me forget the flaws I dislike/hate.

Since this is my first Persona game I have been thinking about buying P4 and P3 for ps2 as well. I still have a nice PS2 slim I could play them on, but they are pretty expensive for ps2 games :( (then again so was Godhand)

If you have a Vita, buy Persona 4 Golden. I never played the original P4, but P4G has so many improvements.

Yeah pretty much same here. I get people just flat out liking the plot/characters/gameplay improvements more then previous games (also its fresh and new which adds to that feeling) but really looking at all of these elements critically there is a lot of shallow elements to this game that really do hurt it in my eyes. Just because everything is new and shiny doesn't mean its going to hold up as well in a few months/years/ect. Persona 4 in general holds up extremely well outside of the issue that all murder mysteries have which is that once you know who the killer is the mystery is gone which can deflate the entire experience but what helps P4 continue to hold up is that its characters are well developed, fleshed out, and play off each other extremely well.

I just don't think Persona 5 will be looked at the same once time has passed and the hype everyone has from playing it dies down a bit (hell were already seeing some of that). I'm not saying its a bad game by any means, its certainly a great game but its not perfect and its rather from it IMO. Granted P4 isn't perfect either but I don't think P4 will be dethroned as the best Persona game once the dust has settled, sure it'll vary by opinion but hell a lot of people who don't like P4 now largely feel that way because how over used they have been in the various spin offs (and they have a good point) but the core experience and uniqueness that was P4 just won't be matched to me.

Sadly no Vita so no way to play P4g :(

That's okay though, I'm sure the ps2 games are classics in their own right?

They are, Persona 4 certainly although P3 has the problem that you can't directly control your party members which isn't always terrible but at times it can be highly annoying. Their is a small advantage that the original P4 has over the vita version which I will not directly mention as I don't want to even slightly spoil it for you.

Only 2 rank 9 Confidant left and I still ahve several day to spare.
Things worked out almost perfectly.

I guess it's time to spent some time with my (in game) girlfriend.
From what I heard, there's a book that teaches you how to read faster, but I haven't seen it?
It's in booktown and you need to finish the 3 other books that you have to read 3 times first.

From what I heard, there's a book that teaches you how to read faster, but I haven't seen it?

Once the bookstore location opens (I can't remember the name) you can buy a fairly expensive book from them. read it and a new one will unlock, repeat that twice more and then the 4th(I think 4th) and final book will be the one that teaches you to read faster.

By the time I had unlocked it I had read through about 90% of the stuff already :/

Ok I'm seriously having issues with the request to get a persona with the dodge-psy ability. Anyone have any suggestions on this?

I tried leveling up the fusion material but they didn't have the ability. I tried leaving the fused persona in training but that didn't either. Really not sure what to do.

Just yesterday I randomly ended up with a Neko Shogun that had dodge psy, then I got that ability onto the required persona by save-scumming three "Strengthen" attempts.

But yeah, just look up a guide on how to cheaply get one that has it.

I mean it's going to be a preference thing. Some people just like or appreciate different things.

Personally Persona 4 still sits at the bottom of the three for me, and I can't really decide which I prefer more out of 3 and 5.

I haven't put much time into either P4 Golden or P3 Portable. They may change my mind, but honestly I think it's perhaps a bit unfair to compare them to P5 anyway since they're both re-releases which improved many things.

That's with me ignoring spin-offs too. I've always felt 4 was worse than 3 ever since 08 when it first came out in the US. Not to mention, I feel the story additions to Persona 3 hurt more than 4 anyway, since both The Answer and Arena/Ultimax butcher some of the characters from 3 a bit, imo.

P4G is still my most beloved. I was pretty depressed once it ended. P5 is excellent but it has a lot of similar elements so while I also loved it, it didn't affect me as emotionally as P4G did. In all honesty, the other SMT game that really grabbed my heart as much as P4G was TMS.

What do you keep for ng+? I kinda want to hold off on ng+ and wait for the update version like golden and FES...

Money, Equipment, Compendium, Item you get from maxing a social link(unlocks one or more of the skills they unlock in the social link), Christmas gift

Haha, I thought about but my Vita is gone and I don't have any intentions of getting a new one. Besides, I'm heading into NG+ so that'll keep me preoccupied

What a game. I usually don't even like turn based games but I was glued to Persona.

I don't really like playing on the 3DS so I don't think I'll be playing the older games. However, I have my eye out for SMT HD since I have a Switch. I'm there day one.

Nocturne is available on PSN on PS3. It's also fairly cheap to the original PS2 copy.

beat it at around 91 hours. definitely the best persona or smt game mechanically, but story wise it was pretty inconsistent. a more cohesive narrative than 4, but not as put together as 3. i considered replaying the series, but after all the mechanical improvements made in this game, theres no way i could go back. bring on the 5 years of spinoffs, i love this cast.

I tried that. The problem is I have vision problems and playing console games on tvs have already become difficult for me. This is just twisting the knife. It took a couple hours but I fumbled my way through it.

Oh, sorry to hear that. Glad you made it out alive. I hated that section too.

Literally the only thing I can think of that P4 does better than P5 is localization, and even that isn't saying much, to be honest. P4 is one of my favorite games ever, by the way.

I seriously just don't see the complaints about padding in dungeons except for stuff like the PINs in palace 3. Even palace 5, my least favorite, felt coherent in how it worked, it's just that I wish it was more combat focused, but it's pretty puzzle heavy.

Palace 6 complaints are the most confusing to me though because I keep reading about repetitive mechanics and I don't see them, did we play the same dungeon? It was just a bunch of objectives that required you to explore and fight the most fun enemy parties in the game with the narrative excuse of, yes, doing the same thing about 4 times. It even had an arena challenge which was great, but because you're getting coins as a reward it's repetitive?

I seriously love dungeon crawling and fighting tough enemies so I savor dungeons as much as possible in this and rarely find them too long because I always take 2 or 3 days to beat them. Sure it'd be nice if they were more fun in NG+ but that's a minor issue in my mind. P4's were competent in the sense that I just saw them as an excuse to fight enemies, which was fun enough, but P5's dungeons add an extra layer of fun by being, well, real dungeons with real puzzles.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I dunno but I'm not a fan of 3. It was OK but 4 heavily improved on it and it was much better due to the cast, music, dungeon looks.

5's dungeons (despite being established and non-random) are the best in the series. I like the music but I like 4's music much more.

I think 5 is still one of the best PS4 games though, in fact maybe one of the best JRPGs out there despite my few issues.

So far the way I rank it: 5 = 4 > 3 > 2 > 1

Still in october but assuming things don't radically change

Gameplay

P5 > P4 > P3

I have the OST that comes with CE and I'm disappointed it doesn't include the Blooming Villain :/

It's easily one of the best and most memorable OSTs in the game.

Still in october but assuming things don't radically change

Gameplay

P5 > P4 > P3

Story

P4 > P3 > P5

Characters

P4 > P3 > P5

Music

P4 > P5 > P3

Wow this is almost identical to my opinion aside from the music part.

I just need to listen again to P3 tracks before I say if it's better than P5's or not.

Started my NG+ last night and cruised through the first palace. Not a whole lot to do in April though. I've been prioritizing Library books since that's what messed up my book trophy on my first playthrough.

Can't wait for the Dancing All Night costumes, I think I'll just swap everyone into those.

Still in october but assuming things don't radically change

Gameplay

P5 > P4 > P3

Story

P4 > P3 > P5

Characters

P4 > P3 > P5

Music

P4 > P5 > P3

I go P5>P4>P3 in all of those categories.

P3 OST never grabbed me. Altho I never beat the game so I never heard the late game music. I think only the title menu music in FES was quite nice. But, I will make another attempt to watch a full LP of the game so I can at least have knowledge of what happens in the game cuz P3 lovers tell me it's worth it.

Playing this is making me wanna finish my FeMC playthrough P3P so badly. It was a complete joy to play and I was really surprised at how different it felt compared to when I played FES initially. It really hurts that they won't even put her in any of the idiotic spin-offs. Dancing to save the world is canon but my MC from an 100 hour game isn't.

Holy shit the twins fused!

Holy shit Igor wasn't Igor this entire time. Good god this game and I'm not even done with it yet!

been slowly making my way through p5, almost done with palace 3.

I picked up nocturne, persona 3, and person 4 for ps2. The start of p3 is pretty cool. has a better story hook then p5 i think. Gonna wait on those, I want to actually finish p5 and i have a ways to go.

Yeah, April is the worst for that.

It's especially irritating because as far as I could find, there isn't even anywhere you can read after school. For the rest of the play-through you can use the reading table in the Library, but annoyingly Makoto takes up the entire bloody table during the first month!

Agreed, except for music. There are some standouts, but I believe I had a better time listening through P4's while playing throughout. It has been a while, so perhaps I should revisit it before saying for certain.
