If you could change the genre of any game franchise...

Catherine --> Cinematic platformer instead of Q Bert.

Star Fox --> Space opera action/adventure instead of rail shooter. Think "Furry Star Wars."

Brutal Legend --> Zelda x Dynasty Warriors instead of action-RTS. Instant top 10 game for me.

Turn Dynasty Warriors (back) into a 3D weapons-based fighting game.

As much as I love Musou games, I still wonder what could have been, if Koei and Omega Force didn't give up the fight with competing with Namco's SoulEdge/SoulBlade and SoulCalibur, so soon.

And even now, I still think having such a game would be a nice bit of variety seperate of DOA.

Madden and FIFA into JRPGs for a laugh. Persona style especially might actually be interesting.
Star Fox into an RPG.

Don't really care for rail shooters personally.
Ohhh, follow the Panzer Dragoon example and we might have something interesting.

Though maybe not on the Story front after Command.

Bioshock 1 into a horror game.
Bioshock Infinite into Deus Ex

I still maintain BioShock Infinite should have basically been Ultima Underworld but in a sky city. If you don't know what that means, basically an Elder Scrolls-style RPG but in a smaller, more tightly-crafted world.

Any turn based RPG into an action RPG.

fight me

Yes, except for turn based games that actually need some strategy and preparation like pokemon and SRPGS.

Speaking of, Pokemon with the FF Tactics engine. Without any historical figures.

Everything into a kart racer.

Dark Souls Kart: Heavy obstacle focus, you have to start at the beginning of the lap of you die.

Final Fantasy Kart: Instead of items, characters have unique spells. Haste makes you faster, Blizzaga slows down foes etc.

Dota Kart: Level up your hero each lap with new abilities. You make pit stops to buy items.

Street Fighter Kart: Ryu can shoot out hadokens, Dhalsim can stretch forward to instantly gain ground, Chun Li can do a spinning bird kick over gaps...

All of these are good ideas.

Gears of War becomes an Extreme Sports game, involving snowboarding, skateboarding, and cycling, all while continuing to fight off the Locust.

Also, all Rock Bans/Guitar Hero games should just be Amplitude tracks.

Pokémon Tactics? This is Brilliant.

Lego series as a true building game a la Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts (though Lego World seems like that change in genre)

Star Fox as a multiplayer-focused Warhawk/Battlefield-like. Ideally, I'd just want a SF game with solid controls, good and varied level design/boss, and on-rail segments, but 1) Nintendo/Miyamoto do no believe that'd be worthwhile and 2) the vehicle swapping open multiplayer in Star Fox: Assault was great and would be fantastic with more players and scenarios. There'd be room for a co-op campaign that would require coordination with others to turn the tide of a massive battle.

At least one Gravity Rush as a character action game like DMC and Bayonetta

I think I've just had an aneurysm because my first thought was some hilarious combo of Silent Hill 2 and Bayonetta.

Get 'em, James Sexyland.

Overwatch into a single-player game with a heavy story emphasis. I guess that's not a genre, though, so...action-adventure? Or an RPG structured like SaGa Frontier where you can play through the stories of each character.

Alright, bear with me here, because this is nuts.

So you take classic but dead Irrational Games franchise "Freedom Force", a slow-paced top-down tactical arpg featuring original golden-agee and silver-age style superheroes and an fantastic character creator the likes of which probably inspired the likes of City of Heroes and Champions Online

So you take that game

And you make it a co-op, mission-based, arpg brawler with moment-to-moment gameplay in the vein of Infamous.

Otherwise you keep the general cast and story, and the character creation system (with some updates for designing characters visually instead of having to import custom models and skins). You also keep the vertical, highly interactive and destructible environments set in tight sections of the city, no open world.

And absolutely don't update the aesthetics from the obsessively old-school 50s-60s style.

Why? Because I love classic superheroes, love character creators, love co-op games, like more direct gameplay, and generally dislike open worlds. I also loved Freedom Force and its story/cast, realize it will never come back in its classic form, and want more people to experience the campy fun of the franchise.

Oh my god. I LOVED Freedom Force! I would buy this game in a heartbeat.

Neptunia as an open world action/adventure game like either Zelda or GTA. Because I want to see what that franchise is about but all the games have pretty crap gameplay...

Uncharted as pure adventure game. Make it like Broken Sword.

The main gameplay will be like Broken Sword with talking to npc and gathering clues and solve puzzles with occasional action segmemt with cool setpieces.

Holy FUCK please make Pokemon into an MMO already. It's so frustrating dealing with a franchise that's so perfectly designed for the kind of social experience the MMO genre provides and instead get gimped by the patented Nintendo diet-multiplayer features.
Never even played a MMO, but ever since WoW became a thing in the mid 00s, I always thought a Pokemon MMO would be huge if it ever happened.

Overwatch fighting game. Put that Blizzard ability to distill the good parts of a genre into a competent game to use.

Also, turn based Cubivore RPG.

Make Dino crisis in the same style as RE7 and PT.

hmm i dunno. I feel like to do that style the enemies and the player have to be kind of lumbering and slow wheras i think dinos should be really fast. I guess you could give the player crazy mirrors edge movement but i still think third person is the ideal for those games.

On topic: After playing HZD. GG should revamp Killzone (and every IP going forwards) into a cinematic narrative heavy 3rd person action game.

50% serious: if I could, Outside of competitive and car games. I would split the industry three ways. Games are like Rockstar style. Naughty Dog style. And Telltale style only.

Galactic Fork

A little fluff between the ears never did any harm...
Turn Naruto:ultimate ninja into a turn based strategy like Valkyria Chronicles with huge destructible environments.

Same for Dragonball Z.

Pokemon too, but more detailed than conquest. With above and below ground.

As much as I love Platinum Games (especially after playing NieR: Automata), I wish Granblue Fantasy Re: Link was an MMO. The characters, the worlds, the music... it SCREAMS MMO to me. Being able to visit every location from the art books or mobile game and see all the characters / classes featured in both as well? Dear god... would be a dream come true.

god dammit

god dammit why do I want this for real

FUCK

the kalina ann is the fruit bazooka

orbs are instead little crystals

rain storm/shooting during free ride/any spin move has crash's trademark spin

agni and rudra are the komodo brothers

defeating n. tropy gives you the quicksilver style

doppleganger style creates Fake Crash copies

I think that basically making a Gears of War game in the Killzone universe could really work well. Cover-based third-person shooter with 2-4 player co-op and a a strong horde mode. The setting lends itself pretty well for it.

I would love a sim/strategy game in the vein of (elements of) Settlers, Sim City and Stronghold, but with the Final Fantasy lore. Let me build a massive walled city, fortresses, build mage schools where white/black/red mages and summoners are trained, build armies of Chobo cavalry... The works.
