Re;Creators Episode 3 - I'm trying to think of reasons not to drop this series at this point. Three episodes in and the characters keep reiterating what the premise of the series is without elaborating what the greater purpose is.

Re:Creators-3

Yea this is pretty bad. It's taking way too long to set up and too much time this episode was confirming something you could easily deduce in half the time. Not to mention the male main character just seems completely detached from the surrounding events.

There's no real drive in the narrative at this point. It's just meandering.

I was surprised when I read this was an anime original and not a LN adaptation.

I watched the first episode, but I'm not sure I'll stick around. It just seems like another magical girlfriend show.

That seems more interesting than what we're getting right now.

Yeah, like remember that one scene in Fate/Zero that had the massive exposition dump with two characters walking around in circles for minutes on end?

That's what the last three episodes of Re:Creators have felt like.

I guess watching too much Amagami SS make me tired of the show a bit. I guess I hold down to do other stuff right now and go back watching when I feel like watching.

Re:Creators 3 -
Mostly an info dump this week. Them trying to power up Celestia with no success was pretty funny tho. I'm excited for when all the characters finally make their appearance. My assumption is that their allegiances will mirror with how they appear on the key art, where Meteora, Celestia, Yuuya, and the Mech guy will be on the side of not wanting to change their worlds and Alicetelia, Mamika, the older guy, and the crazy looking school girl chick will be for changing their worlds. How Souta will come into all of this is something I'm looking forward to as well, since at this point he's just an average anime otaku who can't do a whole lot. Maybe when he starts drawing he can bring out the potential for the characters or something. Since in this weeks episode he talks about how the fandom sort of has to approve of the changes (or something like that) for them to take form. Perhaps he will create these power ups or upgrades for the characters in the form of fan art and post it on whatever the pixiv equivalent is in his world, they get a ton of attention and then the power ups materialize into reality or something. This is definitely the show that I'm most interested in this session. I just really dig the concept of it and so I hope it turns out well, I can say that I'm quite liking it so far, though skimming though this thread it's seems like I'm sort alone on that though LOL.

Boku no Hero s2 03, or is it 04, i forget

dope. they didn't do too badly with the cavalary stuff considering it's probably pretty difficult to anime groups of 3-4, in large group shots, doing a weird thing.

enjoying s2 more than s1 so far, though not to say s1 was bad, just they seem to have found their footing. (Aside from the first minute or so of recap footage every episode)

I don't like it at all...that hole placement on the disc lol. French Release for comparison:

Season 1 is so damn good, Episode 10 is amazing!

that second image is a bit NSFW by the way. I mean there's a woman seemingly getting fucked lol.

yup season 2 was always going to be better than 1, the source material figured things out way better at this point.

Youjo Senki 10-12
Despite Tanya hating God, Aoi Yuuki put in the Lord's work. I remember dogging her for her signing in Symphogeah and while she still can't sing worth shit, you can tell she had fun recording this. The series as whole was really a showcase for her as a VA. The final two episodes were a lot better than I was expecting as it had some great aerial combat and with the final episode being a reflection of the show, it does highlight Tanya's development as a character.

The last two eps had a number of non-Japanese animators working on them and they put in solid work.
It's pretty rare that we get solid aerial animation now so that was a treat. Really the entire battle is well animated with a number of impact frames thrown in. What surprised me though was how low-key the finale was. Tanya has somewhat grown as an individual and is now more understanding of the human psyche. It used previous events in the anime, in a way I wasn't expecting, to show how she learned from her experiences.
DrucCIT.jpg

Tanya would have been incapable of having that conversation with the Lieutenant General at the beginning of the series.
So after the initial batch of rough episodes, yea this turned out pretty good. It was much more entertaining than I was expecting going off the first two episodes. Besides who doesn't love an atheist rant directed at God? The character designs are still garbo especially for Visha but NUT did a decent job for their opening TV anime. I wouldn't mind watching a season 2.
Oh and for the people watching this dubbed, what is wrong with you?

I picked up the old Central Park Media release of Revolutionary Girl Utena at Half-Price Books today for $60 total. Time for a rewatch. Burn in hell, Spring 2017 Anime.

Holy crap.... Nozomi is releasing Sora no Woto on BD!

Maybe there's hope for Aria and Tamayura after all... just need to wait 5 years!

Too bad you missed the Rightstuf studio sale too! I got my pre-order in for it ~$25. (I'm assuming they're only selling it through their store).

Rage of Bahamut: Genesis
So I decided to check it out after enjoying Virgin Soul and learning there were in fact ties to Genesis. 12 episodes later and can say I really enjoyed it. A pretty cool cast overall, Rita is perhaps the coolest zombie yet conceived. It definitely changes how I feel about all the forces at play in Virgin Soul, I don't feel the same sympathy for demons or contempt for humans that I did. Beelzebub is also the dumbest motherfucker in the series, just going along with the plan to resurrect Bahamut even though not only is it not a demon but demons had to help seal it last time. There was some of the worst anime CG I've ever seen, looking at you forest dragon, and the sound effects were consistently underwhelming but I'm now even more interested to see how Virgin Soul plays out.

Clockwork Planet 03

Seeing clockwork robo threaten the lives of Marie and her roboman servant was a treat I guess.

Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul 03

Is this called virgin soul because our MC girl is such a virgin that just the sight of hot guys makes her so wet she turns into a dragon soul?

DanMachi Gaiden - Sword Oratoria 02

Two episodes in and this cast of character has already surpassed the original series. My appreciation of bellies has also increased.

Hinako Note 02

Of course the next friend she makes is a tsundere, so now I guess the set is complete and wow Hinako has really big boobs. That slapping noise was a nice touch as well.

Atom- The Beginning: 2
Holy shit this is all sorts of bad. It's pretty rare to see a script this garbage on all fronts. The dialogue is atrocious, the characters don't act remotely like human beings, and events happen with little build-up or explanation and just as promptly dismissed. I'll give you a few examples:
1.So much exposition and shitty lines, so little time.
2.She's being chased by a killer robot and she takes her shoes off before running into the building? I understand it's supposed to be a joke but she has a robot chasing her that is literally trying to punch her to death. The girl's whole reaction is so nonchalant when we're talking about an actual life-or-death situation. She's in high school right? Shouldn't she get run and get help?
3.Nobody on campus hears two robots fighting or a robot literally flying off? The sister doesn't bring up to her brothers that a killer robot was trying to kill her? It seems like they're also going to just wipe the robot's memories without checking it so the whole incident is going to be brushed under a rug.
4.The two main characters give each other a high five in the middle of a peer review as if they nailed it despite not even being done yet? What? Not to mention their whole speech about the 'Heart' was cringey as fuck and they could have easily boiled it down to a scientific explanation about using memories as a gateway to emotions. This is LN-tier writing for characters who are 'otaku' about something or another and have no capabilities of talking or acting like a functioning human being.
5.This lady decides to randomly kill a kid for some reason or another. Is it because the girl saw the attacking robot? So because this girl saw your robot that is completely covered, you decide to kill her? Goddamn talk about escalating a situation.
I'm not even getting into aspects like overusing the 'grabbing each other's nose' thing as it just comes off as weird due to how much they do it instead of it being some thing saved for more emotional moments. This is just the script too, I haven't even gotten to how limp-dicked the action was.

Well that was a bit tongue in cheek but it is kind of hilarious seeing a character be so vehemently anti-God. In her show God is a piece of shit so it's somewhat understandable although you could probably make a few comparisons to Old-Testament Judaic God. It's not often you see an anime character be atheist or act like one. The only other example coming to mind is Ed from FMA (there's probably more but I'm not recalling them).

I just realised what your username is. Here I was telling myself that the term hosanna told me something.

Yes!

You do see causal atheism or blanket dismissals of religion from time to time, such as in Legend of Galactic Heroes, but it's true that the archetypal angry Internet atheist which Tanya appears to be like isn't a character type you see in anime too often.

Atom 2

You have to establish the struggle of the protagonists or else how will the audiences relate to them as the underdogs? A lot happened in the episode but compared to episode 1 I wasn't as blown away by the episode. I still don't know what Motoko's plan is. She, as made clear by the show, has an ulterior motive to try and attract him. But I can't wrap my head around quite yet as to what it could be. Maybe she is forming a team and needs his expertise for a specific reason. But since she tends to have unpopular guys wrapped around her finger this isn't the first time. Is she supposed to be the dead wife of future Tenma?

I'm not sure the antagonist in Youjo Senki is a god as such rather than 'merely' a powerful but malevolent intelligence that is messing with the protagonist for it's own amusement. I don't think the show has set up anything to definitively say the antagonist is divine or to preclude the existence of divine beings that are not the antagonist. It's entirely possible that it merely manipulated the other characters by abusing their faith to make the antagonists designs seem divine and Tanya was simply too misanthropic to be receptive.

The constant repetition by both sides that God was with them or 'prayers' as destructive magical incantations felt more like the author making a point about the propagandising of religion than suggesting that the weapons were really powered by divine will to me.

Eromanga Sensei ep.3
I thought this was going to be a lot worse (burn it with fire,) however, outside of a scene or two, this hasn't pushed the ecchi limits to trash it. The comedy has been good and the show fun for the most part.

Right? I wasn't expecting much after the obstacle course but he pretty much cobbled together the coolest characters in the series.

Todoroki's team is pretty awesome too though.

No lies detected.

Bakugo's team is also pretty cool. Having Kirishima has the front man, makes your team pretty awesome.

Sword Oratoria 2 - Loki seems really mischaracterised. Like a completely different character. Sisters continue to be great. I like seeing the DanMachi scenes from alternate points of view.

are you sure it's not just that like everyone in MHA is dope

even whiny B class wanker douchebag guy is dope

not as dope as class B pres who hasn't been introduced yet, but still kinda dope

Dragon Ball Super 87

Android 17 - "Is my brother on your team too?"

Wait...what brother? Is there going to be some sleeper Android to come in and clean house? Who could it be?

...

Oh wait he meant Krillin.

Planetes 12

Don't come between a woman and her smokes.

Whereas the scenes with Fee as she slowly loses her mind are delightful, the steadily developing romantic entanglements continue to be annoying. I am not looking forward to them receiving ever more focus.

True true. MHA's cast is just the best. It doesn't have a single bad character.

Yea, no, just no, not when you have a character like Mineta who very clearly is awful and I think that is supposed to be the point of him. At least I hope it is.

Silly Shard! Mineta being the worst is what makes him the best. I love the little perv and his top notch comedic moments.
