Matt: What are other [fighting] games that use "Down"? There's a couple.
Woolie: Umm-- you're right. And there's--
Matt: There's one that's famous.
Woolie: Where the announcer says
Both: "Down!"
Woolie: Yeah.

How quickly they forget Mahvel existed. How sad.

'Bout halfway through part 10.
Apparently they managed to prevent the actual Two-face injury from happening, so it's just regular ol' Harvey freaking out at them.

Would've been cool to see the story change when they saved Dent from 2 face...

Oh no wait he's crazy just swap the character model its fine :\

Some of the story ideas are alright but man Telltale hasn't changed very much

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
But at the same time, judging the channel by what you think it could've been seems strange.

If your not watching the LOs, that just st means they aren't vetting interesting to you, not that Liam isn't around.

Mind you, I'm not putting all the blame for my disinterest on Liam's absence. I do miss having him around, though, and my general disinterest in the channel did start around the time he left and Matt went on break.

But yes, they haven't LP'd a game I'm actually interested in for a long time, as well (except Y0, but I own that and haven't played too far in, so my not watching that is more down to not wanting spoiled).

I'm still rather surprised that my own mounting apathy hasn't made me stop watching the channel. FNF is pretty much an ignore for me at this point, and the Adventures of Woolie the Snail isn't doing much for me, yet I keep watching it for noise at least. I've picked up and dropped Game Gumps and Giant Bomb faster than I have been watching SBF. It's super weird.

i'm finally up to episode 25 of the Nier playthrough and jesus fucking christ.

I loved automata, but jesus, even in Ending A of Nier the story has gone batshit insane and that's even getting the gist of the storyline from the true ending of Nier:Automata. Like, Nier:A's ending A was great but it was kind of on the level of MGR: a pretty cool A->B.

What a pity Nier was trapped in the game that it was (though it's not terrible, just... not great), and what a triumph it was that Platinum took it and polished it to a mirror sheen for Automata.

It's those nuggets of gold we sometimes find in all the poop.

Except in the fighting game videos. Those are almost universally dull. I put them at 1.5x-2.0x speed these days and just play them in the background at work and I don't think I've heard anything worthwhile in forever.

No, it's still Two Face. The drugs Penguin injected him with caused issues he had in the past to resurface and become unmanageable.

I'm not watching a single thing they're putting out at the minute. I'm just binge watching old shitstorms.

I've pretty much dropped their content 100% at this point, and I mostly just come here out of habit. Liam leaving was also the point where I started to seriously lose interest.

Reading all these posts makes me feel like the only person that doesn't really miss Liam in the long run.

Sure, it was sad & everything when he announced what was happening, but after that initial post, I've felt things have largely stayed the same & remained unaffected. No slight or anything towards Liam anyhow.

The only things that's changed for me is that I've gone from watching their content regularly on the daily, to every once in awhile (while still enjoying it greatly) since I've taken more interest in other channels (mainly EZA).

I personally don't. I never thought he was that funny other than a few amazing moments where the stars aligned for him. He did bring some games that I don't think would have gotten a look otherwise, but he was the sub par dude as far as I feel.

I've been trying to figure out my opinion on Liam for a bit today and I think that aside from the podcast, he was at his best in three person LPs or literally any two person combination that didn't include Woolie. For whatever reason, the Woolie/Liam ones were the least interesting/most podcasty ones before Minecraft story mode.

That said, I feel like stuff with Liam was a lot more hit and miss in terms of what the broader SBF audience wants, so it's not surprising that there's a "wish Liam was still here" and "don't miss Liam" camp.

I think Vita was great for the podcast, Nier and NBA 2K16

everything else was a bit hit or miss for me

oh god, i got about halfway through watching the Ultra Despair Girls LP before losing my fucking mind, I couldn't even have it on for background noise

I miss Liam, but I miss him for the weirder LP's/one offs. His Shitstorm video(White Day) was the best. Also Freedom Planet LP was hyyyyyyyyype.

Liam gave a good balance to the group, I felt. Definitely miss him, but still enjoying things.

Latest Dark Souls: There being a death counter for SEATH of all bosses amuses me. This'll be fun.

edit: Nevermind.

Well, the group is mostly just dirty casuals, so Liam brought something new to the table since he actually plays niche games.

That was simply a terrible idea. It's a game not suited to be LP'd to begin with, but they were also talking over the game so what's the point? You either read the text, word by word, or don't even bother.

Liam was good but his playing devils advocate for every little thing could be really grating sometimes. I think he was best in something like the Castlevania playthroughs.

Woolie attacking the Moonlight Butterfly for no reason in the latest Dark Souls was pretty funny.

I'm not sure how you could like FNF if you actually like fighting games.

Wut? Not expecting expert level play here. I go to Gootecks and Mike Ross for that or Maximilian. I expect to find unknown fighting games that are cool or funny to laugh at and shit talking.

legit lol @ gootecks and mike ross being expert level play.

i like SMS better
I think Scrublords is more enjoyable because it's them dealing with weird ass games they've never seen/heard of before or real bottom of the barrel stuff. You're watching them discover this weirdness, so it's more interesting than regular Fisticuffs.

Yeah that was the main turn off for me. That and he'd take things too serious sometimes. Like you're going to lose your mind trying to argue with Pat constantly. Pat isn't interested in actually debating things a lot ofthe time, so there's no reason to do anything more than smile and nod.

Wow am I the only one that genuinely loves FNF? I guess cuz I love fighting games.

I don't really care about fighting games, but atop of that the videos are just generally boring. Especially when it's a game they're concentrating on, because their commentary goes to nothing and then it's like 'why am I watching this again?' SMS is better because they at least add commentary with games they dump all over.

Merely talking about as pure enjoyment as well good insight into a fighting game. I don't think something like Wong's stream is that entertaining to watch.

Neither do I, I just thought it was funny you referred to them as experts.

Anyway, this is the same tired excuse people use to excuse boring low effort content. Literally nobody expects expert level play from the guys, especially not with something like FNF. What *is* fair to expect though is a tiny bit of effort to maybe make the videos something other than blindly mashing around for 30 minutes. They brought a competitive spirit to brawls at least, but then decided to drop that in favor of the infinitely more braindead FNF.

I've said this exact same thing so often in this thread that it's probably time to stop. This kind of content legit seems to be what their audience wants now, so there's no point in bringing this stuff up anymore.

Edzi, I'm curious, why do you keep posting in a community thread for the super best friends when it seems like you legitimately don't like them?

Honestly, this is probably the main reason for me as well, I just couldn't put my finger on it.

Like that one time on the podcast, I think? Whatever that time was where he went on twitter and apologized immediately afterwards.

And yeah, arguing with Pat is like talking to a brick wall lol.

I'm curious as well. Mind, I'm assuming here, but it seems like at this point some in here just hate/pity watch & post at this point.
