Gran Turismo Sport Beta Thread

Gotta say, there's a lack of warping and dancing of cars online today...good to see.

Even though I've still got a crappy 110+ ping I've noticed the improvement in opponent positions too compared to how they were at the start of the beta - could also be the higher SR level we're racing at so opponent behaviour is better and more predictable too...

Its on pics like these that I'd like to see the GT series improve on whereas when it hits the barriers it should react accordingly but you can bet your bottom dollar it will won't.

I swear that Nurburgring race I participated in just now was all-out WAR. Insane!

I'll upload it, this was probably the most satisfying gaming experience ever.

Which surprises me more and more knowing how Kaz appears to be.

It shouldn't, Kaz is daft and I feel like maybe the team at PD worshipes him which might make it hard for Sony to get in a say in GT's development. There are so many things that should have changed at this point that I feel haven't because it's how he wants it and he doesn't seem to care how the fans want it, It's infuriating.

Definitely much, much better for me too, but I really doubt it's the higher SR. People in range of my current SR of 35 drive a lot fairer. In my last race, I only qualified with a shit time minutes before the race. Even at the back of the field people were leaving each other some space, only had one little bump and it was nobody's fault, didn't lower my SR neither, it was SR-arrow up the whole race (still saw quite a few people flying off though, maybe it's more noticeable from the back).

Anyway, I don't think it's the more predictable behavior(theoretically possible of course).
My hope is that it's something PD has done to improve the servers and netcode. I fear though that another big part of it is that a lot people just have stopped racing altogether already. I'm a bit down on it playing it too and would like to race something else for a change again, but I'd have to switch so much gear out (twice, if I want to go back to the GTS beta the next day) and I don't want my SR to be overtaken by most testers and having to race with the... less sportsmanlike characters again.

Nice and smooth!

I like how EU races have all those different flags. US races, maybe there will be 1 Canadian.

glad to see you again :) it's feels great to race again online on GT !

I can see that a lot of spanish and german drivers are pretty good

This is it folks, one of the craziest Nurburgring races ever! As I said, one of my gaming highlights of all time (until I messed up at around the 80% mark).

You gotta prioritize the corners that exit on to straights on the Nurb. Stay back and then get close mid corner to exit, get the momentum, and pass. No point in pressing when there is another corner coming up that is going to compromise you or cause you to collide.

I'm not too terribly concerned about competing on a global scale when this releases, but if the online racing setup is as solid as its' shaping up to be, GAF races will be fantastic.

Nice! Too bad you lost the fourth place like that.

Yes, I was a little too aggressive there. Couldn't keep a cool head anymore :)

I'm struggling with all the turns in the second half of the Ring, it will take some more races for me to fully memorize them. Taking them correctly when you're partly guessing is hard :) But thanks!

start driving bumper cam and watch yourself win that race.
Competition was not particularly fast and you miss alot of corners as you said.
bumper cam gives you more control over entries of corners.

I've been wanting this for so long: barriers that deform. I'm not just talking about those tyre ones but the metal ones as well. Its a tiny detail that will add so much more realism to the game.

That was intense. Front 3 stayed bumper to bumper for the entire lap, very for the Nurb. I think some of your turns were very aggressive in terms of how much car was off the road. Also think you could of won pretty easily if you had braked a bit more on corners, took a smoother line which would lead to a faster exit.

There's also open lobbies.

Yeah just raced in the ring and was very satisfying! Much more fun than all previous GTs. I'm impressed by how decent the online is. GT5/6 cars warped all over the place and was janky. Here it's not perfect but not bad.

Does that FD stand for Fulda?

I've had more fun since I got demoted back to D this past week! At 50+ SR people are predominately well behaved and it feels like a lot less pressure than the cutthroat C races I had. As I finally got a Gr4 GT-R I'm likely to get back to C with zero extra effort if I improve there. Even without any tuning I was instantly a full second faster than the time I spent over an hour grinding out before then. Though I can keep up in the main pack in races my qualifying times are still garbage.

Cars dominating classes is my biggest complaint right now in terms of game design. As a lot of the people that play regularly have had the beta for a several weeks, almost everyone in races has the car of choice, meaning you're screwed if you don't and there's not that much overtaking. I don't mind if a car is inherently faster at base spec, but the whole point of balancing for sport mode races is silly if they're not actually balanced. Weight distribution seems to matter a lot, as its one way all the cars differ but the stat is not listed. Wouldn't be surprised if the game calculates it in 4 segments instead of the typical 2.

It's a beta, what else are you expecting? As an aside, it's as far from boring as you can get IMO

I'm not sure when a racing game forced me to go online at midnight each day to drive 42 km the last time. Collecting cars is somehow incredibly fun, even if I consistenly draw the ones that are worse than my current cars. I hope they keep this lottery system for the full game!

That's 10 out of 19 locations.

I don't think a GT game could get away without having Suzuka or Laguna Seca, make that 12 then.

We know about the Pikes Peak deal, so there will be Hillclimbing, you probably need at least 2 tracks for that and people love driving production cars on real roads, so I'd guess there will be one more Hillclimb real roads serpentines track.

That's 13 1/2 out of 19.

The real race track selection is very thin, so there will be at least 2 more, maybe even 4.
My money would be on Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (spanish fans) and Monaco(good graphics showcase and Senna history).

Not much guessing room left, probably one more classic GT original track.

Bathurst and Silverstone seem pretty much guaranteed, their digital recreations were already FIA certified (along with Suzuka), and graphically they were some of the more modern looking tracks in GT6. Spa should be in there too.

The 19 number is outdated though, so maybe there will be more now with the delay. We know they added Porsche since the delay so the number of cars will be higher than originally announced.

That shot of Interlagos appeared as well so can maybe add that to real world locations.

Ah you already had Interlagos!

Been having a bit of a battle in Dragon Trail with some mates, it's getting pretty close!
