It's great, by the same people as the tempered glass screen protectors people have been raving about and potentially better than the Hori one as it has a forth, more vertical position which is perfect for me when laying in bed.

It doesn't have vent cut outs. Do not use this with your switch.

Like I said, the vents are only about half covered, so while I don't think it's a good long term solution without modification, it works pretty well if you want a stand and already have one laying around.

Very worthy!
It's a great controller and Nintendo's best traditional pad I'd say. Wonderful battery life, great weight and build quality too. The only thing I'm not so keep on is the size of the ABXY buttons and their spacing, but that's a very minor niggle that most probably won't notice.

Very, but i live in Malaysia. So not sure if there will be a good number of players playing online in the region.

Mario Kart is great for single player, it's even better if you're trying to perfect everything.

As much as I love Bomberman, I think BoI is a better single player game.

If you don't like Retro games aesthetically, Wonder Boy is a good option as it looks amazing, but it's too short, and random on where to go/what to do. If you don't mind the retro aesthetics, Blaster Master Zero is great and my favorite Switch title after Zelda.

You haven't stated what you're looking for exactly, that would actually help giving you a recommendation.

Well thank god Zelda is so good and so long. It's going to take me quite a long time to finish this game. I just wish they'd give us some good Wii U ports. Bomberman has that 3d quality I don't really like, and the price, yeah.

World of Goo! Excellent pbysics based puzzle game. I'd say it's the second best game on the system right now.

Sure, but engineers don't put extra vents in for looks. They put in just as many as they need to safely cool a system.

Blocking vents is asking for trouble.

Rumble can only be turned on and off.

I love my Pro Controller. It's pretty much the only controller input I've been using. It's also probably the most comfortable controller I've held. So I'd say that it's definitely worth it

I feel like I can't play indies on my PS4 anymore. Maybe that's weird but I go to sit down and play the Disney Afternoon collection, and rather be playing it portable.

I don't see myself buying any (or many) more indies on the PS4. Even with the extra graphical enhancements for games like Snake Pass

I grew up playing Wonder Boy (badly) and NeoGeo games in the arcade, and currently trying to save money with only a bit of it going to games. Would rather play new games now than the ones I have had.

Just got Wonderboy on a whim since i finished Zelda. Gotta say I love that it has an Easy mode for people like me who suck at retro games. I only played for 10 minutes but it looks and sounds great, especially with retro sound effects.

I'd guess that it will at best be similar to the first--very good, but very short. So if that's all you want to play then renting or borrowing it if possible is the way to go.

That said, I'm not big on MP games either, but enjoyed Splatoon as turf war is a lot of fun, not super competitive and doesn't require a ton of skill as you can just avoid players for the most part and paint where people aren't and contribute to your team without getting kills. There's also a new co-op PVE/horde type mode in the sequel for the non-competitive gamers.

So it may be worth giving it a go, and just selling it off (Nintendo games hold their value super well/long) if you don't care for it after beating the campaign.

Splatoon 1 has a fantastic campaign! It's a little on the short side, but very inventive. Has inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy I'd say.

Are there reports of the Pro Controller's d-pad issue being fixed on newer units? I really want to get one, but no way am I paying more than $100 after taxes (Canada...) for a controller with a dodgy d-pad, and I don't feel like dealing with Nintendo's repairs again right after sending my left Joycon.

Friend codes are stupid and I refuse to either share mine or bother to type someone elses in. Just have a username system like a normal company Nintendo. I'm banking on that and other standard features that should have been there at launch to roll out with the paid service.

It takes about ten seconds to put a friend code in thanks to the touch screen, and once you've put the code in then the real name is revealed. It's really not a big deal.

Not yet. I bought a neon red and a neon blue last week on Amazon. Red was fine, and blue was the worst I've seen yet. Even the right joycon's signal was dodgy when doing the behind-the-back test.

don't need to be tech-minded. They do, the Pointer controls can also be simulated ala World of Goo

I did, but just to initiate a return. Walmart.ca still had stock when I noticed the issue, so I setup a return at Amazon and ordered two from Walmart. If the first one I open is fine, I'll return the unopened one. If not, I'll check the other one.

And yep, it's come to this with Nintendo products. Third time was a charm for the system itself.

If anything I would say they are more precise. But they come with one big caveat that holds it back, which is the drift. But the controls are incredibly accurate and far more comfortable than IR controls.

Drift isn't much of an issue when you can press a button to recenter it. Something they could easily implement at system level with a Wii VC since there would be multiple unused buttons.

Wii Motion + games on the Wii used the gyros for the pointer, including Skyward Sword, but the thing is that on the Wii Remote the IR was still always there to constantly recalibrate position.

That's where it gets tricky for the Joy-cons. Need to assign a button to recalibrate position (a la World of Goo).

I picked up Wonder Boy/Girl last Friday, and it's quite charming. I can see that the studio that developed it are massive fans of the original, and after investing many hours with Breath of the Wild, it's great to play a non-linear action adventure game that is arguably the most fun I have spent with the Switch (so far).

I'm going to pick up MK8D next week, but I am curious to know what NeoGeo games are considered to be "the" essential games? I was thinking of picking up 2-3 of them, but I don't know where to start.

serious question: why did you sell to gamestop for FAR less than you could make just selling it to a random person on craigslist or even on NeoGAF? Hell, you'd at bare minimum get full MSRP back for it.
