Went to see this last night and had a great time. Its really really good for what its worth and I wasn't alone in that sentiment. There was a scene were the crowd actually started applauding, it was the strangest experience because I've never been to see a film were people applaud at a scene or at all. I don't need to say very much about the films contents or how well its done, for the first time in a long time I agree with the RT score. If it remains at 100%.

After 3 weeks: earned $136.3 mill off a $4.5mill budget

HOLYYY shit, is Peele and whoever else was involved in making of this drowning in money now or what?
Has there ever been a movie with a bigger profit than this?

Grease, Jaws, the original Blair Witch Project, Deep Throat (although numbers on that one are hard to substantiate) are all in that top tier of box office/budget ratio. But Get Out is definitely in that category. Curious to see what overseas will do. I hope Jordan Peele got rich off this shit. They'll definitely give him two more bites at the apple, and he says he has three more big ideas for social thrillers. I'll be curious to see what they are, and what he might do with a bigger budget.

I believe Halloween was made for less than 500k and made 70+ million WW.

Paranormal Activity was made for $15, 000 and made $193 million

Having 217 reviews all positive, with only one negative review and it's flipping Armond, is incredibly impressive.

Really happy for the film and for Peele. It's a fantastic film and happy he's now basically in a position to do anything he wants to do next, due to the critical and commercial success of the film.

Finally got a chance to see it last night, great film.

The cinema was packed too, which was a surprise because there wasn't as much buzz for the film here (UK), but the crowd loved it.

My cinema was packed the weekend before last as well - also UK - good buzz. Mostly a white audience as well but I guess with American racism there's less to personally confront and more a general takeaway of racism and the way people think.

Plus, at least in my experience, there is this sort of morbid fascination with America's race issues. Not from an area of 'we're better' but its a different kind of society.

Oh and everyone loved it. I went in a group of six so it was good. Happy to see the movie making money, want to see more from Peele.

Though admittedly I did love how the TSA agent saved the day after the Al Qaeda K&P sketch, all I could think was 'that wily TS of A.'

Saw this over the weekend, so so good.

Some of the scenes are chilling in hindsight, when you know what's happened. I need to see this again.

One of the best cinema experiences I've every has. Remember, I'm from the UK, we don't usually do that kinda stuff!

And when the was a certain reveal in the film everyone started shouting "oohhhhhhhhhh Shhhiiiiitttttt!!!"

Final review score:

Goandwatchit/10

just saw this...

I'm not sure how 99% of critics can recommend someone spending their hard earned money on going to see this in the theaters. Should you rent it? Sure. Is it a bad movie? No, not really. But is it really worth the inflated price of movie theater admission? Fuck no.

It's an ok movie at best. Sometimes entertaining, but most other times predictable and boring. Either i'm getting old and out of touch or the people doing reviews these days don't know fucking shit.

It is absolutely worth the price of a theater admission for the crowd reactions alone.

I've encouraged people to see it in theaters not just because of crowd reactions but because I think it's worth supporting good filmmaking and good writing. I don't think that your age has anything to do with it, and I don't think it's about being out of touch in some way. I think, if this was your genuine reaction, then you simply think differently than not just the critics out there, but the majority of the general public as well. And that's OK, especially if you can convey why -- because I'm not sure how the movie could come off as predictable or boring.

What crowd reactions? No one in the theater jumped or did anything at all
(maybe the violent scenes had a reaction but that's with every movie)

If anything i heard someone whisper "this is boring". I was in a theater with older people though.

I'm not sure how the movie could come off as predictable or boring.
Well, i saw the trailer which pretty much gives up any element of surprise. But still it didn't have much else to it.

So, what was so great about it? The acting was flat and unemotional from everyone. The laughs were few and far between. The whole film lacked pacing and atmosphere to build up the right suspense. I'm not a critic so i can't convey my thoughts on it very well but i've seen a lot of movies. I mean, i've probably seen more movies than some of these people RT deems appropriate to place in their aggregate.

It's not a bad movie though but RT is misleading. People see 99% and think "wow it must be awesome". The whole RT aggregate nonsense is not good, for anyone. It creates all types of inflated or low expectations too often.

Honestly, this would have been a much better experience if it were an episode of Black Mirror, not a feature length film.

I've seen the movie twice and both times the audience was reacting throughout the second half of the movie.

Ahh, yeah that trailer was terrible. I saw the trailer after watching the movie and thought, "Why the hell would you do that??" But then again, the Castaway trailer gives away that he makes it off the island, so maybe it's not uncommon. All the more reason for me to avoid trailers...

So, what was so great about it? The acting was flat and unemotional from everyone.
Disagree completely. Alison Williams completely sold the relationship, and Daniel Kaluuya has this ability to convey emotional pain so well (examples include
the scene where he explains that his mom didn't die immediately and that he could have saved her, but didn't, and the hypnosis scene with the mom.
). The dad is excellent at selling the "liberal-who-thinks-they're-enlightened-but-really-aren't" persona, the mom pulls off "intense and menacing with a smile" so well, and the jujitsu brother, from the very first scene (dinner) comes off as off-kilter in a way that perfectly rides the line between ordinary racist and psycho.
The laughs were few and far between. The whole film lacked pacing and atmosphere to build up the right suspense. I'm not a critic so i can't convey my thoughts on it very well but i've seen a lot of movies. I really think the trailer ruined the experience for you (or you just think differently altogether). I found the movie to be a wonderful mystery to unravel and that it built up the tension so well. I was never bored. And then it was a great movie to re-watch once you know specifically what's coming because there are so many nuggets and clues throughout.
It's not a bad movie though but RT is misleading. People see 99% and think "wow it must be awesome". The whole RT aggregate nonsense is not good, for anyone. It creates all types of inflated or low expectations too often.
The RT rating is only "misleading" if you don't know what it means. But you know it means that 99% of critics thought positively of this movie, which generally means the probability of someone else enjoying the movie is high. You just ended up being in the 1% this time.

Saw it a few weeks ago after hearing great things about it. I'd say through 75% of the movie I thought it was just okay. Then the last 25% or so it picked up and became amazing. Really loved it overall!

I was legit creeped out by this movie.

A few months ago (before this movie even had a trailer) I read an article online that talked about this very subject....
missing black people and brain swapping

I dismissed it as bullshit but then I watched the film and it was about that same topic....I couldn't believe it.

This movie was decent, I thought it was a bit slow at the beginning and predicted most of the twists. I overall thought the ending was great but silly.
let's put my brain into another person's body. Sounds like a great idea that couldn't back fire and I'll live forever.
Overall I'd give it a 7/10

Had you seen the trailer before watching the movie?

Just saw it here in Germany. Great movie. My GF invited me to the prerelease Screening

i liked the scene where everyone went silent when he took the stairs...

I agree with you 100%. The whole movie was very predicable IMO. I enjoyed it for the most part but ( I'd give it a 7/10) but it definitely did not live up the the hype for me.

Beat EviLore at pool.
Excellent movie.I assume this is the alt ending.
There is an alternate ending in which the cops actually come at the end. He gets locked up and taken away for slaughtering an entire family of white people and you know he's never getting out, if he doesn't get shot there on the spot.

Does anyone have the screenshot of
the top ncaa prospects?

I thought it was ok but had serious problems with it. And honestly, the crowd reactions in the theater made me feel a little weird, laughing a bit too hard. IDK.

I guess the story was also really predictable for me. I figured it out very quickly. As a horror movie, it just didn't work.

I really wanted to love it especially given the social commentary. But I just don't think it was fleshed out very much.
Like why were the post-operative black characters so robotic? It would have been more effective if they weren't robots. What's the commentary there? Why waste actors' performances on something that doesn't do anything for the story line?

And why at the end did the girlfriend act so robotic and alien... as if to be a racist you have to be one-dimensional? The scariest thing about racism is that seemingly normal people are racists (disgusting, yes, but not robots). And that's a more troubling truth. IDK, that transition didn't make much sense to me.
