Lmao the only thing the promos can say about Lobov is that he trains with Conor

At best he should've been on TUF Redemption. Headlining a card is just fucking weird. Don't care if he KOs Cub 5 seconds in, Conor pulling favors shouldn't have gotten him this opportunity!

It wasn't close at all though.
The Cub I knew would've trucked that scrub, finished him in the first or second.

Sure, if we want to look at the round scores, it wasn't "close at all", but Lobov had way too many moments in that fight that he shouldn't have.

That fight was like watching Miesha Tate vs Rin Nakai.

The first round was terrible for Cub. After that he did about what he normally does. He hasn't finished a fight in four years and Lobov has that Homer Simpson thing going where the head being 90% skull gives one a distinct defensive advantage in a sport that focuses on injuring the brain.

This was the problem coming into this fight. We learned nothing and nobody really won.

Everyone won in a way, the fans got a better than expected fight, Artem showed he was durable enough to hang with a top 5 guy for 5 rounds. And Cub got a nice tune up fight with another W on his record.

No one talks about my man Brandon Moreno... he had a great fight/finish. Also i really don't like Ovince and loathe Al Iaquinta... i hope he gets offered peanuts after that stupid post fight interview, no one wants to see his ass.

Yeah why is that schmuck complaining again exactly? He bowed out and then decided to come back KNOWING what he was going to be making .

He's right, that pay is BS but he jumped back in knowing that's what he was going to get paid and he's back to complaining.

Friends... some crazy shit is going down in DEEP..

MOMO-VS-MOMO.png

DEEP JEWELS 16 is set to take place on May 20th. One of the most intriguing bouts on the card is the only amateur fight which pits 24-year-old Momoko Yamasaki against a competitor half her age, the 12-year-old who is simply referred to as MoMo. The fight is scheduled to be contested in the 95-pound minimumweight division.

12-year-old MoMo makes her MMA debut at DEEP JEWELS 16 on May 20.
One thing about this matchup which has got the Japanese world talking is the fact that a 12-year-old will make her MMA debut against an adult veteran of four fights. In the amateur rules for DEEP JEWELS, striking to the head on the ground is not allowed. Both fighters will be wearing head gear.

Yamasaki (2-3 Am) is coming off two losses and is hoping to get back in the win column by taking out her 12-year-old opponent who is currently a seventh grader. The 24-year-old is a former street-fighter who was bullied in junior high school. According to the press release from DEEP JEWELS, the experience is said to have triggered her to became a delinquent which lead to series of “tale of triumphs on the street.”

MoMo (0-0 Am) will be hoping for a successful showing in her MMA debut. It should be noted that the 12-year-old weighs roughly 86-pounds, so Momo will be giving up around 9 lbs to fight an adult. She trains out of Hakuhinkai Karate, the team that has produced notable Japanese talents including Mizuki, Naoki Inoue, and Yukari Yamaguchi.

UFC Nashville's Al Iaquinta: I got the KO, but not sure if it's worth coming back for low pay

Where's the controversy? He's right.

Be quiet and humbly deplete your brain cells?
So don't come back. There's a reason I don't work at McDonalds. I'm not gonna work there and then try to negotiate through the press that I'm not getting paid enough to try to get a raise. Yeah its embarrassing that these guys as pro athletes aren't getting near the compensation as other sports but ultimately they know what they're getting into and what they're worth and at some point they have to take it or leave it and let everyone else out of it.

That's a crap comparison. You can't negotiate your pay at McDonald. You absolutely can in the UFC. "Take it or leave it" is a shit take.

People tend to not realize how much money a lot of these fighters lose out on with the current Reebok deal. They made so much money off of their own sponsors and since the Reebok deal has taken affect it's turned most of these guys into basically minimum wage fighters.

Bellator NYC show still has tickets available.

Should I wait to see if stubhub tickets drop in price or just try and get a face value seat now?

You negotiate your contract, not pay. Iquinta has a shit contract that he agreed too.

Sure you can likely negotiate your contract too if your someone like Conor who's broke nearly every attendance record, every viewership record, in almost all his events.

Man, so are we not going to get the super fight of Al Iaquinta vs .... who?

I don't remember anyone caring or asking when Iaquinta will be fighting again?

You're not popular, it doesn't make business sense to make you rich.

If you want to make more money than do something about it. Fight more often than every 2 years and get an actual following.

People want McGregor money acting like they're bringing in McGregor numbers.

Stick to your day job, Al.

So you're telling me Iaquinta didn't know how much he'd be compensated before he started fighting?

Now I will admit SwipeLeftHoney brings up a point I totally forgot about with the Reebok shit. If that's part of Iaquinta's beef I take back what I said. I don't know the timing of when he signed his last contract and when the Reebok stuff went down.

I don't recall Iaquinta being more than a blip, if that, at the time of the Reebok deal.

The poor pay in the UFC is known and it's definitely horrible due to the Reebok deal. However every fighter knows the deal when they sign. So I don't feel bad for one particular fighter complaining when they thought they could reach the superstar status necessary to make good money under it and they don't. Just like I don't feel bad for the guys warming the bench on professional sports teams that don't get the lucrative deals and tv/movie guest spots that the superstars get.

Pay should absolutely be improved across the board but Iaquinta isn't moving the needle on this topic at all.
