I'm still baffled by the way Koei Tecmo release so many games on so many platforms so fast, especially in Japan considering what the how the others publishers there are doing in that regard.
That's nothing new but still.

And you thought the Switch would be hard to get hold of.

Edit: Wait, a clamshell 2DS? Is that a new thing, or just something I've managed to miss seeing until now?

Isn't it because they A) want to prove themselves as a big developer, and B) don't have alternative sources of income like SE and Konami and are not befuddled like Capcom.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is already number one on the Japan eShop charts.

I wonder how much, if at all, that's being influenced by folks importing the Japanese Digital copy from Amazon.co.jp? Been seeing lots of folks online talking about doing it. Probably would be #1 regardless, but I'm still curious what the numbers are ther.

Does the Japanese copy offer English language?

very very few people will do that. While quite simple, it is too much of hassle for a game that releases a few hours later in your region.

And yes jp MK offers english.

Urgent shipment of Nintendo Switch on Bic Camera. First time since launch that Bic Camera sells the console without the lottery system. Today it's your chance.

This weekend they will sell again raffle units.

Yodobashi Camera also is selling the console online and at retail.

I saw reports for restocks at other retailers too. There could be a big shipment today. For weekend we'll wait to see if there will be another sizable one.

So with the New 2DS LL/XL, the 3DS will possibly be down only slightly from last year? Neat!
I don't know about N2DSLL making much difference. It seems like the closest comparisons to it would be the 2DS (previous non-3D 3DS model) and Game Boy Micro (late GBA edition after successor machine was out). Both shipped about a half million in Japan.

Dragon Quest 2DS. For when you really really have to play the technologically lesser version of the technologically lesser version.

1 2 Switch out of the top 3... surprising

Todays COMG charts are gonna get lit!

Botw above FE could suggest zelda is holding up better than i thought it would or maybe just maybe even getting a mario kart boost?

MK8D + large Switch restock + holidays = profit

I hang out with a bunch of 3D haters who are also huge 3DS fans who will probably buy at least one of those 2DSXLs. Likely two or three each.

In non-Japan related sales news - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe just overtook Zelda in the annual rankings for Amazon.com...

April could very well be a 600K NPD performance for the Switch

Switch is back in stock in most places in the US as well, should be a good month over there. Looks like they timed this well.

I imagine they're hoping Mario Kart carries them till Splatoon and then it's their holiday line-up. They're probably hoping ARMS does well but it's a new IP and thus always hard to quantify the response. If it does it'll be an extra little push for the system and maybe open up some new demographics.

Looking back, it feels weird I had some doubts about if MK8D could hold the Switch until E3/Splatoon with Zelda.

to my credit, at least I wasn't nearly as skeptical as others at the time lol

Monster Hunter is inevitable this FY in Japan with Capcom's forecast. The number is too small for being Monster Hunter 5 though.

Wasn't Capcom's original forecast for MH4 2.8 million, despite the game releasing on a system with a much larger install base than the Switch? What else could sell (the bulk of) 2.7 million? Certainly not MHXXHD or yet another non-mainline MH on 3DS.

Yeah, that what I think too. That and the people who are still looking for a system to play Zelda.

I always had faith in Mario Kart even as an enhanced port. If the Wii U showed us anything it's that it's one of Nintendo's strongest and most reliable system sellers if not the strongest console wise (Pokémon remains King handheld wise).

As Polygon show's if there's a single Nintendo IP you don't bet against it's Mario kart.

I wish they had made another pie chart for Breath of the Wild on Switch.
