TEKKEN 7 releases June 2nd (PC/XB1/PS4, Season Pass, Eliza, more details)

I'm a fan of story modes in fighting games. There's no reason fighting games can't continue evolve the quality of this feature. You're next SNK.

NetherRealm is creating some ripples in the market.

I've seen the game running on Pro. Not sure on the resolution, but it looked gorgeous and not a jaggy in sight.

Me as a PC gamer going up against someone who bought it after playing it at the arcades for the last 2 years.

Although I am one of those players who's had access to the arcade version, we're a significant minority and not a common opponent in any player base. Outside of Asia it's probably a couple hundred players at most.

You're fighting an uphill battle if you're a newcomer regardless of platform. If you were sharp in TTT2 you'll be fine. It ain't that hard to adjust.

Yeah it's the one thing I'm really disappointed about. I played Lee in the past, but no Chang style sucks.

Really disappointed as well.
There was always a Chang in every single Tekken game, it's just bizarre to see Julia missing. I would love to see Michelle back because I like her more, but I'm not holding my breath.

Really upset at no change style. Used them since tekken 1 and believed namco would never abandon any of the tekken 1 staples. Boy was I wrong. I use xiaoyu as a side but the Chang style was truly my favorite playstyle, aggressive mix ups and not relenting on enemies while having one of the best grab commands in the game. Sigh, not sure if I can muster the energy to play a game without my main.

Yeah Unreal Engine 4 has poor performance budget, see also SFV.

Citation neededt? Tekken 7 is still the second the best looking fighter out there(i'd say Injustice 2 has it beat and it runs on an upgraded UE3), and many other UE4 games look leagues above games from other engines. Considering all the games we've seen on UE4, i don't know how one could make such a claim.

It still depends on how developers make their games

SFV, Return to Arkham, ABZU, ARK all have poor bang for hardware buck leading me to this conclusion about UE4.

On a happier note, I am debating whether to get this on Pro or PC 😀

Harada has confirmed that the PS4 version of Tekken 7 will support PS3 sticks. (Translation provided by Flying Wonkey, who is linked there.) No support for X360 devices on the XB1 due to physical/system limitations. PC controller support is TBA, but keep in mind that UE4 by default has XInput support but NOT Directinpt support. (Direct PS4 controller support along with Steam Controller support are open questions.)
Nice, weird that Xbox One and Scorpio won't support 360 sticks but can their games

SFV is Capcom internal, return to arkham is an outsourced porting studio trying to redo all assets in a game from another engine, and ARK is just shitty optimization in general on all platforms.

I don't think that really indicates a problem on the engine side

FYI the arcade version of T7 uses a Core i5, 8GB DDR3 RAM and a GTX760, yet it looks stunning.

An i5 for this game IS pretty unimpressive from a rendering standpoint, so is a 760 considering both of those parts are notably stronger than a base PS4, especially the i5. This game's arcade cabinet should be running on an i3 and a 660(which is are still stronger than base PS4) for just two fighters on a stage.

what we're seeing in game, even after the upgrade doesn't reflect those parts

Dang, no options for Treasure battle at all, no difficulty setting, and no way of downloading new ghosts! :(
I really loved the ghost conept, you could sorta play against other players without the stress of actually having to play them.
I was hoping it'd sort of become a standard in the fighting genre, but alas, now even Tekken has axed it :(

loves Arcade Sticks
In a TEKKEN Talk stream that MarkMan was in recently, they didn't talk up the Pro version differences as much as one would expect.

I'm personally expecting it to be a slight graphical upgrade and not much else.

The PRO is the way to go. Trust me.

Great to get some confirmation on that, thanks.

Doesn't make much difference to me personally though as I own an OG PS4. On that note, can you confirm if the base PS4 will be rendering at 1080p?

that's something we will have to wait for DF on most likely

But i personally doubt it if they want to keep 60fps in game

Yeah you're probably right.

Still though, it would have been awesome to see those stages at full 1080p. Guess it's not that big of a deal in the long run though if it's 900p.

Can't wait.

Finally, Tekken on PC.

I'll finally get to learn Claudio instead of just working on spacing and trying to string together combos at Round 1 when I'm in the area.

I don't know if it'll be 900p either, my guess is dynamic resolution with the upper limit being 1080p and going down as needed...its a different engine but they used that in TTT2 on 360 and PS3 as well

Oh wow, didn't know they've already used that previously.

Would be a decent compromise, and tbh, I think that's what they might already be using. In the PS4 footage in the latest build, seem stages are perfectly sharp while some are a tad blurry.

Though I guess as you said, we won't know for sure till the game comes out/we're closer to release.

Although I prefer fighters with fireballs and long-range attacks, Tekken is still awesome. Definitely getting this day one.
