The Tingle outfit has to have an ability related to rupees. Maybe higher drop rates or a discount at stores or something.

I honestly think there will be more to it. The whole platforms/chests in the sky indicates it's not as lazy as just tweaking some HP modifiers and making all enemies 1 tier higher.

I dont know, the sky stuff screams lazy if you ask me.

Considering this is payed dlc and Nintendo, people were expecting more from hard mode.

I understand that. But Hard Mode doesn't mean new locations to me.

It's quite obvious that this DLC Pass is all about the new story and dungeon. But they want your money now, so they made some QoL additions and the Sword Challenge to offer them this summer. I'm waiting to see what DLC 2 brings before buying this. After 120h of Zelda I can wait until the Holidays.

Hard Mode isn't nearly enough to fix all of the game's balance problems, but it is better than most developers would do. I'm interested in seeing how expansive the "aerial" component of it is, or if there are new enemy placements at all. Increased Enemy Tiers will do a better job of keeping up with the armor upgrade curve, but there's still a high-end, late-game problem of most things doing 1/4th of a heart. The announcement implies new tiers of enemies, but they need an increase only to their damage output, and not to their survivability. Late-game tiers already take way too many hits.

Also, mid-combat food is completely and utterly fucked, so the game will still probably end up really easy by the endgame.

The Trials and extra armor, etc. Seems like the meat of the DLC, and on a price scale comparable to what other developers charge.

It also seems like a pain because you're probably going to leave players in instances where they have to wait for things to recharge or saving/reloading constantly to reach certain things in mid-air.

Wow hard mode was even more underwhelming than I thought it would be.

Which I find flabbergasting because I had almost no expectations. I figured considering the criticisms hurled against the balance of the game the last 8 weeks, essentially just upping enemy health would be the last thing they'd do. I really hope there's more to this

They didn't just up the enemy health.

They also upped enemy damage!

Game changer.

I kinda like it tbh the aerial enemies sound hilarious if they put a few lynels in the sky i will be a happy camper. The pic showing it already has octorocks and moblins in the air lol. Maybe they will add a few more tweaks if the backlash gets to the it's like 2-3 months away still.

I just watched the GameXplain video on the Zelda DLC Pack 1. To hear Andre (ANDRE) take the better stance against poor DLC practices with Nintendo involved is something I never though I'd say until today. Wow.

Wow. *claps*

So I downloaded the update, but now there's a blinking X on the Zelda thumbnail and I can't start the game up. Under "software update" it says it's still downloading, but it's not? Anyone know how to fix this?

*Edit*
Nvm. Solved it.

Most of it sounds fine, but the only thing I was really looking forward to was the hard mode, and unfortunately it sounds incredibly disappointing. The amount of effort put into it seems to be minimal.

Why is hard mode being offered as payed DLC? What other games offer difficulty levels as DLC? I think i've heard about it before, but cant remember the game.

The Trial Mode sounds interesting, and extra armor is always nice :)

I'm getting mixed messages haha

That's awesome... I really hope it somehow can work retroactively though.

Exactly, already beat the game, I want to see what the hell I've missed.

I don't see the big deal about the dual audio. It'll be neat to play around with for 10 minutes but to the majority of people that only speak one language I don't understand the draw.

So you don't hear Zelda's bad voice acting in English, so now it'll be in German or Japanese?

Same here. Don't get the hype for this at all.

One of the most annoying things in the game was the safe system. I wish they had fixed that.

I'm not sure about hard mode giving enemies more health. Already the white boblins were just an annoyance towards the end of the game.

Are people considering playing the game again from scratch?

Because they think they can get away with charging for hard mode. Same with other standard features like the collectible tracker and the map function that shows you where you've been.

How does this game handle starting a new game save, btw? We won't have to save over our normal mode file, right? Can we keep both?

Why are people saying that they are only adding more health to the bosses in hard mode when they also added that they are adding new tiers of enemies? I am also pretty sure that even if they add blue Bokoblins instead of Red ones they are going to give them better weapons so they can deal more damage.

Metro: Last Light comes to mind.

I am amazed that people still doesn't realise that you are not paying $20 for this, you are paying $20 for the DLC that releases at the end of the year. This right here is just some extra stuff that they decided to release earlier to give some life to the game before the actual DLC is made.

I mean, yes, it is shitty that it was not in the base game and it is part of the DLC, but it is pretty obvios that the $20 price is for the story DLC, the rest is just extra.

It is basically this.

I'm a bit disappointed by what this DLC offers, but that's mainly due to the structure they are selling it.

I don't like how the Hero's Path and the Korok Mask change the base experience. Both directly change the exploration aspect and that's not something I want changed as someone who's spent a lot of time with the game already.

Part of the fun for me is knowing that I haven't been everywhere, then marking places on my map which I don't believe I've been to (using discovered Koroks as a guide) and checking them out. At the same time I'm totally OK with the fact I haven't explored every corner of every field, canyon and forest. With Hero's path, the map suddenly becomes more like a checklist (an elaborate one, of sorts). It's a similar deal with the Koroks, part of the fun is spotting them for myself while exploring - I don't want an item that indicates to me when I'm near one.

So that's OK because I don't have to use these items, they'r optional, and they are cool features that I know many others will like.

My problem is that I want to play the Trial of the Sword and almost certainly the Story DLC coming in winter, but the other stuff I don't really care for.

So I'll just wait for the winter DLC pack I guess - but I wish I could purchase the just the Trial as a standalone thing.

I was basically sure that I would buy this very soon, but now I'm considering waiting until the next one comes out and basically get it as a $20 expansion that I get all at once. I was hoping the hard mode was more interesting, so for me there's not enough compelling stuff here to make me want to replay the game when this come is out.

I'll definitely still get it, I can't see myself disappointed enough in DLC Pack 2 to not buy the Expansion Pass. But I don't need this right now.

Ubisoft did way better with Far Cry Primal...for free...Ubisoft...for free...game chaging experience
Same for Dying Light or another zombie game

This is really a poor hard mode, especially since it's behind a paywall

Definitely some neat stuff in the DLC, but I'm a bit disappointed with the overall direction of it. Witcher 3's post-launch support is my reference point these days, and ideally, there should be a clear separation between QoL/mechanical improvements and additional content. This DLC takes some things I think should be accessible to everyone, like the hard mode and new map feature, and mixes it up with additional content to improve the DLC's value proposition. This seems a bit misguided to me.

Either way, I think Nintendo is doing a good job with BotW's post-launch support overall, and some of the things I mentioned aren't clear-cut. There's some room for improvement, though.

The hero's path being capped at 200 hours makes it useless for me. They really should have included it as part of the base game if it was going to be that limited.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Gotta admit glad I passed on the season pass. Nothing in here screams must buy. 2nd DLC rumors seem more hype to me.

Glad for people who are excited though!

I feel the dlc 1pack is being built as an easy way to get 100% in the hard mode. It doesn't release until August, so it's not like they're expecting people to wait for it for a first run. Even the armor pieces look to help towards this, guessing tingle gives more rupees(
maybe his shorts shake when rupees are near by
).

Most devs have difficulty levels as default content, not DLC. So no, they aren't doing anything better. This is a case where Nintendo is stubbornly behind the times as they often are with their one-size-fits-all thinking to difficulty levels and not even offering difficulty levels in a lot of their games.

Maybe you'd have an argument if this was some kind of OoT Master Quest type total overhaul of a lot of aspects of the game, but it's just more enemies with more health. The laziest kind of difficulty increase, even if it was default content.

No this is a case where Nintendo is some monolith and not a bunch of separate dev teams that do things completely different.

playing through the game just for hard mode seems barely worth it so I cant imagine wanting to 100% it a second time
