Wonder Woman and the Mystery of the Missing Marketing.

You have to imagine WB wants to avoid any sort of negative talking points about this movie. Don't give people the chance to bitch about something if you don't have to.

id imagine they know the more people bitch about something (preferably in youtube reviews promoting their film) the more people will talk about the movie, hence more press, free publicity, etc. surely they have figured out how to commodify nerd rage by now. the people that will complain about the movie are also the people that will buy those tickets in the first place, as well as the Extended Editions that are (1) sure to address those complaints and (2) subconsciously assert that you got value (quantity) for your money from the experience (despite you now having paid for the movie several times over)

I dunno, it's like what, 2 seconds of each? Maybe? Do they even get any dialog?

Just thought it was weird/notable.

It's the same as Doctor Strange marketing. Danny Huston has as few lines as Mads. Or Boyd in Logan marketing. Or Ajax in Deadpool. I realize I'm mixing up actor and characters names.

I dunno. I mean, we're getting back to that Doctor Strange comparison again, I guess. But I also feel like it was definitely made clear that Mikkelsen was to be the primary antagonist, and Stephen is supposed to fight him. Boyd in Logan got more screentime in the trailers/commercials and his role was made pretty clear in the marketing, I think.

Decent point on the Ajax thing, but then again, I don't think the marketing for Deadpool was anything but "Deadpool doesn't give a fuck" in which case, not giving a fuck about correctly representing the film's contents fits perfectly.

(comparing Wonder Woman's marketing to Deadpool's is probably a bad call all the way around, honestly)

I had a wonder woman trailer with co stars talking in video before at ny guardians 2 screening is that not marketing?

Like poster above this was in london too

I think this movie is going to be the opposite of Man of Steel in the sense that it'll be a commercial failure, but a success with the critics. The trailers and the cast all looked pretty good.

I'm excited for it. But yeah I was thinking the other day how I haven't heard much about it. Seeing guardians tonight though!

I have been seeing traliers during the nba playoffs but the tagline still makes it seem more like it's a justice league thing. I can't remember what it says but it's something like before justice or something. Seems a little strange to me

This and the Aqua Man movie will blow. Trust me. There is no way this will be good. I think they need to blow up DC and start over. Batman versus Superman was awful. Suicide Squad wasn't any better.

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action

I just saw an AMC ad for this on Facebook. I totally get why they might have been dodging guardians, but that still doesn't explain why they weren't getting their trailer out there in front of other movies months and months ago.

? Seen the ww trailer for months now in front of other movies.

AVclub up to their old tricks. 'Controversy' over the NAME of protein bars -- not even the ingredients, its not a liposuction bar its a gluten free protein bar. Utter nonsense

Yes im mad. Its bs clickbait by these biased media outlets because its not even a controversy sure thry can find some trash tweets for their articles but by and large no one cares until they write all these articles pretending people care and adding a stink of negativity to the movie. Its incredible

Sounds similar to Captain America: The First Avenger

This is offensive? Would you be just as pissed if she were on a box of Wheat Thins? Man, this is the problem with my fellow liberals, you're all way too fucking sensitive.

In fairness, at least the source the author is using is even-keeled and acknowledges WW has soda, chips, ice cream, and the usual tie-ins.

Don't know if anyone is actually offended by it. That's be kinda silly.

The person who posted it seems offended..As well as the writer on avclub

The level of "offense" on display in both the AV Club and Mary Sue articles seems to top out at "mild disappointment" at best.

It's not really offense so much as it is "huh, really? C'mon now."

I've seen higher, sharper, more acute levels of emotion/offense in this thread in response to my posts.

The smiling Affleck with GAF's favorite name seems more offended by the fact someone noticed this tie-in than the people who noticed the tie-in are at the tie-in.

Luckily, life isn't really a contest to see who can feel the least, so having feelings isn't automatically a bad thing.

That's what I meant and better said that I would've. It's embellishment. It's a kinda dumb marketing tie in but that's it.

Speaking of WB's DC tie ins, a year later and I still don't understand the BvS car commercial about villains needing cars. Like, the ad shows Batman chasing down villains in the cars you're trying to sell. In that scene he destroys most of those cars.

(The smiling Affleck with GAF's favorite name?)

I feel like this scene has too many cuts to be an effective action scene.

I do like how Steve caught the hot bullet tho.

I see what you mean but it was probably necessary to show the speed in which she was deflecting the bullets without doing it in slow motion. I didn't really have any trouble following it though.

I don't remember that ad. I remember Turkish Airlines tho

And this is not good.

Elaborate.

The action was easy to follow, the birds eye view of the bullet deflection was great, chris pine's reaction to the hot bullet and his subsequent awestruck stance while Diana was dealing with the thugs was great (especially when he turned around with his fists raised in a half assed manner at 0:31). Basically everything here was a nice throwback to the first Superman movie.

Literally the only thing I'm nitpicky about in this scene is 0:24 by how Diana deflected the bullet.

Yup I agree, I'm looking forward to seeing this. Fun chemistry with those two.

It's offensive to me because, as a woman, we're constantly bombarded with these type of bullshit products (even if they're bullshit in name only) because we have to be "thin." It's not about being healthy or muscular for women, it's about being "thin," even at the cost of poor health/malnutrition. Gal Gadot worked her ass off to get fit for this film. She was already thin. It completely undermines what female empowerment is about, in my opinion.
