What did she say? Everyone here is going BOOM SCHOOLED OH YEAH etc. but I have no idea what she actually said.

Is everybody supposed to recap for people that can't be bothered to watch? I missed it as well, so I backed up the stream.

Look at the Republican fuck heads try to bury Yates And get owned in the process.

It's pretty clear, any investigation involving republicans will lead nowhere. An independent investigation needs to happen.

Aren't there Democratic senators involved? Can't watch and am not familiar with the specifics of US politics, but surely a Senate hearing will include Democrats as well?

It's sorta scary just how prepared she is for the questioning. I mean her answers and rebuttals are split second quick... well for the republicans at least

Oh wow, Clapper going all in.
"I get why leaks and unmasking and these ancillary issues are important BUT MOTHERFUCKERS, RUSSIA FUCKED WITH THE ELECTION AND WILL DO IT AGAIN."

slightly paraphrased, but only slightly.

I fully believe the bullshit began in earnest around the Reagan era. That's when the GOP decided to embrace and elect the religious loonies who justify all their actions with some God's soldiers bullshit. Why should they compromise with Democrats when Democrats love Satan and abortion?

From the New Deal era until the late '70s, you had some honestly moderate Republicans - the northeastern Rockefeller set - who wouldn't have stood for this bullshit. Now they're all gone because some assholes think God told them to run for Congress.

Late '60s.

They have such one track minds in their strategy for trying to obstruct that it is pretty obvious what they are going to try because they've never strayed from it in any of these hearings yet. Props to Sally Yates for being so prepared for those questions though, her responses to the bullshit they have been spewing have been top notch.

It's pretty easy for someone as educated as her to dismantle republican questioning, no doubt.

Looking for meaning in GAF

Cruz tried to school her on a legal footnote. She then pulled out one of the subsections of that law and pointed to her justification/basis for not following the law.

essentially it boiled down to "have you ever heard of a situation where the OLC said an order was lawful, then the AG turned around and overrode them and said that it was unlawful?" and Yates was like "not off the top of my head, but I'm also not familiar with a situation where an EO was sent to the president without the AG being informed about it until after the fact." and Cruz was like "buh buh you're partisan"

Thanks, all.

Cruz, after asking about travel ban and emails, leaves the Senate hearing on Russian interference in the 2016 election
Deflection and walk away in shame.

Timeline check: Yates repeatedly offered to let WH Counsel review evidence DOJ had on Flynn. They accepted and fired her on the same day.
More important conclusion to draw.

Debate champ Cruz got tombstoned by Yates on a question of constitutional law.

If Cruz was a rapper he'd never perform live again.

I'm glad Ben Sasse is actually talking about the issue at hand, but it was also kind of funny how blunt his first question was. It was a few shades away from "so, uh, what do the Russians have on me?"

Doesn't know that "You" is used in both the singular and plural
Man, Ted Cruz..... At this point I guess that's the result of abandoning all dignity.
