Dear Sakurai...(Not final boss spoilers but don't click it until you've beaten the game)

If they take anything from Calamity Ganon for any of Ganondorf's future Smash, HW or Xtreme Volleyball appearances, it should be the beard.

Yup, hardest boss in the game. Final boss was a breeze in comparison.

Definitely difficult for me too. For a moment it felt like a Ninja Gaiden boss.

I think with cooking in general there is a random chance that the meal will be an extra powerful one, it's indicated by slightly different music jingle and the meal will give you extra hearts than normal or give a higher level effect or longer duration. You maybe noticed that some meals with the exact same recipe can have different strengths. I think cooking during a blood mood either guarantees or increase the chance that the meals will be those "lucky ones". Using Monster Extract in the recipe also does this.

Ah I thought that jingle was for unique recipes, didn't know cooking could "crit". I haven't even encountered monster extract yet.

Rather off topic, but is there a Switch OT?, I tried searching but couldn't find anything. I just bought one and I have a few hardware related questions, but I am not sure where is the best place to ask them.

Original switch thread was closed. You have to create a new thread if you have a specific issue.

Yeah, that last interaction with him is a fantastic moment.
Maybe it's because the internet hyped up Kass' subplot, but I was genuinely disappointed. I expected a lot more than the obvious
Zelda loves Link
thing. Maybe if
he revealed his teacher was warped by the Calamity into something you killed along the way
or something like that it'd be cooler, but it was a mighty big "meh" to me (although the music was good).

I have no idea how I did
Eventide Island
without dying and with only seven hearts. This is definitely my proudest moment as a gamer, maybe one of my proudest moments in general.

Second Divine Beast down here, lost count of the hours I've played.

Vah Medoh, I really enjoyed it. The quest leading up to it, the whole
flight/gliding section with Teba before landing
, it was all really well done much like the Divine Beast in the desert.

The puzzle was definitely easier than the other, but still enjoyable. The boss fight though,
like seriously, I just shot arrows at Windblight. Is he supposed to be beaten like that?

The second-best Divine Beast along with Ruta, in my opinion.

For Windblight,
if you parry his beam you'll knock him out of the air, and you can whallop him on the ground.

Randomly wandering and found a tablet with Hylian text on it on part of the ruined wall near the edge of the plateau. Anyone translated it? Kinda curious what it says.

Couldn't find it via Google, and don't think it was one of those things people translated before the game came out.

Bosses are largely no longer puzzles but tests of combat; there are a multitude of way to approach the bosses and no longer just one way. I think you'll find out that the bow and arrow is the most op weapon throughout the game.

Take a pic and upload it here. There's an alphabet pic somewhere so someone should be able to do it.

One aspect of the story/world building that disappointed me was that the Great Plateau was never explained. Why is it raised and separated from the rest of the world? I thought it was sealed off for a reason, and very briefly I thought it might be Skyloft landed down on Hyrule. But so far as I can remember, it is simply a gameplay restriction without an in-world explanation.

Just started over from the begining thanks to the new language patch. Latin Spanish is great.

My first playthrough was reasonably short, it just never seemed to click. This time i am taking it slower and its helping. However the weapon/battle system still bothers me. Couldn't work out what it was for the longest time, and then it finally hit me.

BotW's battle system feels like a Shump that doesnt have the defult gun, so when you run out of power ups it forces you to rely on the environment. Given how (Late Game Spoilers)
The Mastersword is essentially a boomerang.
it would be great to have an indestructible boomerang that can stun enemies and an indestructible shield that you can use for snowboarding and parrying as "rune" like items.

These items wouldnt be that useful but would be a nice safety net for the times when you are out of weapons.

150 hours and I haven't even come remotely close to being out of weapons. Even on Eventide before the end of it I was armed to the gills.

BotW amiibo are up for preorder for a June shipment here in Aus. Gonna grab Guardian, Zelda and one of the Links.

Leaning toward the archer one over the rider because I think horse-less will look nicer lined up with the other 30th anniversary Links.

Given that that's where Temple of Time is located and, the King says

"This is the Great Plateau. According to legend, this is the birthplace of the entire kingdom of Hyrule."

it's most likely meant to be where the Skyloft landed indeed.

I have 3 shrines left and I have no idea where they are lol

Also, Nintendo should have trolled everyone when they first demoed the game. They should have named the white royal horse "Zelda" and then "accidentally" pressed the whistle button and the text on the screen would appear "It seems Zelda couldn't hear your call". Then later on in the demo they show the horse with the royal saddle and birdle off in the distance.

The whole internet would have gone crazy thinking that Zelda was turned into a horse in this game lol

Uh oh, Simpsons did it!

I feel slightly guilty for looking upon this topic and coming across a couple tips for killing the lynels. Other than that I haven't used any other outside guides/walkthroughs for the game. No sensors, pro HUD (except beginning of game up until first divine beast), and 114 shrines down so far.

I suspect my left joy-con is having some issues, basically when I am riding a horse it seems to veer off in random directions occasionally. Also, sometimes the left stick is intermittently becoming unresponsive or moving in random directions when I am in the map screen :/ is this the joy con connectivity issue I kept hearing about?

I found my last shrines in a couple of obvious 'how could I have missed those' places.

If they really would have wanted to make the internet mad they should have called the horse 'Linkette'. " the rumours are true but its your horse?!"

Eventide
Island.

That was truly a superb experience. Getting to it was a pain though, I used the ice rune a lot to say the least.

Completed a few more shrines, and I really like the runes idea. It adds meaningful gameplay changes, and it keeps you interested in finding more. Already trying to think of ways of how to combine these together.

Also, being able to play this on handheld is amazing!

Well horses will disobey until they like you but the map screen shouldn't do that.

Slight Gerudo spoiler...

Last night I encountered the giant
sand worm
for the first time and was immediately reminded of
the Tremors movie - shout out to 90s GAF!
in the way it attacks. I noticed some strategically placed rocks and though 'it would be cool if I could mimic the dynamite scene from the film.
So I was jumping up and down on sand to get its attention then clamouring up a rock and lobbing a bomb onto the sand for the worm to eat and then Blam! his head. I felt so cool when it worked!
No doubt that's how the monster was designed but it felt pretty damn cool!!

Man, i thought at some point i would stop playing the game so constantly, but i am close to 245 hours in my main save and created another save with 40 hours already. I just love this world so much, and it feels such a good realization of the zelda world.

I think that the best thing for me is that not only this new formula worked really well, they did the "classic" hyrule in this game, with all the races we know and love, the areas like deserts, snowy mountains and volcanos and things like that. The next game can add even crazier regions new races.

Another thing is that by interviews, the gdc talk, this game seem to have really ignited some spark at nintendo that probably wasn't felt in a while. It's game that feels modern and new while still retaining that nintendo feeling. Kinda funny that these same things could be said about the switch.

I really hope that they are encouraged to continue delivering these kind of games with their franchises.

Currently fighting the boss of the

Will I be able to travel back to stock up on some supplies ( arrows/weapons) then travel back to the defeat the boss?

Played a bunch more today. Going to places you have never been before is great. The world is just so packed with things to see and do. The bar is just so high right now.

The combat system still isnt meshing with me. I really enjoy the climbing/exploring aspects, but i dont really like the combat. Because of this i just keep sneaking past enemies or avoid them via climbing routes. For example today i unlocked an area tower that had an enemy camp at the bottom. Most people whould probably fight that camp to get to the tower. I climbed 2 mountains and then glided to a point halfway up the tower before teleporting out.

This usually becomes a problem when you get to shrines, you need specific weapons/gear and you dont have them.

140 hours in and still yet to do the Goron and Zora quests. Man, this game! The exploration is just unparalleled. Finding the shrines in hidden locations is more fun than the puzzles within for me, I really don't want this game to end!
