Waitaminute. This looks incredible.

...why did I skip it?

Dunno? You should give it a shot. :)

Good Art™
The contrast between how much love and dedication has been put into making the characters alive, and how much the game doesn't feels lifeless as a whole, is pretty amazing, and sad.

The animation and detail in this game are great. The main cast is really charming, which makes the lack of fleshed out story even more upsetting.

I really hate that Sunhi's gifs aren't representative of in-game visual fidelity. It gives lots of people a false impression, when I think ideally gifs showcasing visual splendor should be true to the game, and not works of art and post-processing.

The animations are pretty good in this game, though. I mean, when they aren't getting in the way of you actually controlling Noctis.

Thread is late. There was a sale last week too where you could've gotten the game and season pass digitally for only $50. Regular game was around $35.

I got it for £10 in a Sony price error, but I'd have gladly paid more. I'm having a good time with it.

It reminded me why I don't read reviews or listen to GAF.

That's why I didn't use them, Sunhi is still a god though

Fuck a duck. I guess I'll be playing the waiting game instead.

Lordy. Imagine what they'll do with the FFVII remake...

Totally, I'm not denying they're great works, I just wish they came with disclaimers because I swear every thread people post them and you get posters amazed with the game's supposed god tier graphics. In XV's case, it has enough beauty all by itself so that makes it even more baffling.

So does all the magic, frankly its just the fact that it's coming outta grenades that annoys people

Essentially just having one spell for each element and only three elements doesn't help. Your spells get boring pretty fast. I'd have killed for a larger library. And yeah, I wouldn't have complained if they'd gotten rid of the grenades, either.

Why does look so much better than my version of final fantasy xv

Does the pro really make that big a difference?

Does the base PS4 version look like this? Pro version is pretty clean, and I kinda prefer the natural vanilla exposure over the brightened up post-process of the gif.

No, it looks different because post processing on the gif.

Vanilla and Pro versions looks REALLY close (played both).

I mean the base ps4 version compared to the Pro images.

These are your gifs and the game looks visually as good in them as it does in Sunhi's, did you edit them to the point that they don't represent the actual game visuals anymore?

All I can say is that I played the game on HQ Pro mode and it looked great. Until Horizon Zero Dawn released it was imo the best looking console open world game.

Yeah, difference is basically better res , shadows, AF and draw distance/LOD.

I mean, you can take a pic that takes advantage of the better shadows, AF and LOD and compare it to base but during gameplay they're very close.

Nah, I didn't edit my gifs. Just wondering how the base PS4 compares to Pro since I don't find Sunhi's gifs graphically drastically better (outside of his very nice motion blur) than what I played on Pro.

Yep, that was exactly my point too.

My question is why can Sunhi make them look so good while Square and even GG cant. What's he doing that they cant do programmatically?

I played both Horizon and FFVX on the pro and his OG PS4 gifs looked better than what i was playing on my 4.2tflop console. why cant the devs use that extra horsepower to make the games look as good as sunhi?

I think Sunhi's biggest talent is his shot composition and lighting. he needs to be hired by one of these studios as a cinematographer or something. at the very least he can help them get the color tone right. the extra AA and smoothing of the framerate might not be possible on the OG PS4 but this is the kind of shit they should be focusing on for Pro upgrades. Fuck 4k.

Cerny should hire him as the director of photography to oversee baked in support for modes that make the game look and run like they do in his gifs. Put it on the OS level like boost mode and call it Sunhi mode.

I am dead serious.

Because 1) post processing effects takes resources and 2) it doesn't always have to look better. Take into account you're seeing carefully done gifs and touched them with that scene in mind. It's not the same when you have to apply it everywhere.

Btw now I feel I derailed the thread with the gif I posted lol Sorry OP.

This is one of the biggest reasons I feel like the game succeeded in grabbing me so much and making me invested in the story even with the visible flaws. The animation of the character made them that much more believable and I was able to relate to them simply from playing around in the open world.

Yeah, I agree with this thread, they did an amazing job on the animation.

It's two different engines, combat and directors. I think it's more of a coincidence more than anything.

I don't think there's any way it's coincidence, at least for Cloud traversing the rubble. Some of the animations are damn near identical. I wasn't away of any battle animations being the same though, and I'd be surprised if they were. VII:R is probably aiming to be significantly snappier than XV, which can be somewhat sluggish due to its animations.

I love how in combat, the main priority of the party is to protect Noctis.

Speaks a lot of the relationship of the group, even though they are all friends, Noctis is still above them

Yeah, the animations in FFXV are amazing and probably the best next to U4. Though, I haven't played Horizon yet, which I assume is the only other contender, no?

Haha, well, GG liked his work so much they invited him over recently:

The graphics are the last things the game needs help with, a PC version should come with more than just graphical bells and whistles.
I mean at this point the story is set (and it's a mess) dlc isn't even integrated properly into the story, like the gladio dlc. What I mean by the gladio dlc by the time he goes on his little own adventure in the main game you don't even get a prompt if you wanna access the dlc ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ at the very least the game will look insane and that's about it on pc.

I mean unless it's easy to transfer assets between engines is possible. Cause the KH3 team had to ditch and redo some assets from the LE to Ue4

What are you waiting for? O: Horizon Zero Dawn is an awesome game. After FFXV disappointed me in so many ways, it was Horizon that unexpectedly gave me all that and more. It has an epic story that is really well told, with great characters, especially Aloy. It has a vast and beautiful open world with so many different types of regions, tribes and towns and the combat against the mechanical beasts is on point, an absolute blast and it never gets old. Last but not least the sidequests aren't mere monster hunts or fetch quests, but actual side stories, that flesh out the game's world and lore. They are not as great as in the Witcher 3, but they are so, so much better than in FFXV. You should really give it a try.

Aren't there even some attack animations from 15 in the battle footage?

That was one of the first things I noticed when I watched the trailer for the first time.

It's two different engines, combat and directors. I think it's more of a coincidence more than anything.

That's not how art assets and animations work. Art assets and animations can be moved and transferred. Especially if you're just making a trailer to keep people satiated.
