The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT3| Your Free Time is Badly Damaged

So

These metal X's painted with bullseye's all over Death Mountain, are they Korok Seeds or what

I've tried bombing them from above, fall attacking, dropping items. Wtf are they?

25 shrines still to go but I'm having a hard time finding them. Feels bad but I'm thinking about looking for them online or something :(

I had to go this route. Spent well over 200 hours to beat the game but I don't find enjoyment taking multiple hours to find a single shrine.

They're where you reload from if you die, I think. They're there for people doing the initial first run in to Death Mountain before you get the heatproof stuff to show how far you've made it.

Played a bunch more today. Going to places you have never been before is great. The world is just so packed with things to see and do. The bar is just so high right now.

The combat system still isnt meshing with me. I really enjoy the climbing/exploring aspects, but i dont really like the combat. Because of this i just keep sneaking past enemies or avoid them via climbing routes. For example today i unlocked an area tower that had an enemy camp at the bottom. Most people whould probably fight that camp to get to the tower. I climbed 2 mountains and then glided to a point halfway up the tower before teleporting out.

This usually becomes a problem when you get to shrines, you need specific weapons/gear and you dont have them.

I like how many options the combat gives you, like bomb arrow on the ground > use the updraft to fly > get a slowmo headshot > use the time to freeze the other enemies > nail the jumping attack on the frozen ones > throw your almost broken weapon and stack the bonus damage from throwing/breaking/hitting when frozen > run to pick up a weapon and get a dashing attack... etc

I do wish link had a bigger moveset and that it was easier to pull the flurries when fighting many enemies.

Last night I completed the final Divine Beast and then did a few more Shrines in order to then get the Master Sword. I hate that I'm close to it being over, the story at least.

I think I'll put off going back to the castle for a while though.

So a couple of days back l reached the part of the game where
Bolson told me he was off to find the love of his life and he bode me farewell. I feel kinda guilty now because it was pissing me off that him and his buddy always seemed to be sat on their lazy asses next to the house l bought.

I tried to make my feelings known to him several times by buzzing close by him on my hoss, dropping lots of monster guts around him and aiming a few bombs at him but the penny never seemed to drop.

Bolson, l hope you accept my apologies and you find your true love.

This game is just so good.

For those that don't know, because I haven't seen it mentioned here, but reminded myself of it last night when my wife was attempting to find a way to scale the Akkala tower; dropping 5 bundles of wood next to each other and setting them all on fire will create an updraft you can fly up. Grass or no grass.

I don't understand why I can't find Hetsu again. I've looked for him in every location that he's supposed to be in and no luck. Has anyone else experienced this? And yes, I've checked all the stables. He's not there.

He's already made it home then.

Yes. Unless finding him requires
obtaining the master sword
, which I haven't actually done yet. Or he could just be really well hidden.

How many times have you encountered him so far? He can upgrade your inventory multiple times at each location before going home.

But you did find him on kakariko and then on the stable right? He only changes locations if you exchange enough seeds.

If you did exchange seeds then you just missed him with all the green around in the forest
He is in the same area as the sword, so if you stil haven found the sword then there is no way for you to find hetsu.

Just once. I've looked all around the stables that are on the path from Kakariko to the forest. He's nowhere to be found.

So you have found him only outside Kakariko so far? Did you max out the upgrades available from him at that location? At a certain point he'll tell you he has to keep traveling home. If he didn't say that, then he's still there.

My mate just bought a switch and this game. He sent me a photo of when the camera pans at the start of the game and i realised just how jealous i was that he was experiencing it for the first time. Having not played it for a few weeks and seeing his reactions and that screen made ne realise how much i love this game. I really do wish i could experience it for the first time again.

I beat the game. 100% (if you exclude the Korok seeds), 205 hours of playtime. Did Ganon last. Went back to the Shrine of Resurrection, saved, quit, and am not going to play it again until this holiday.

What a ride, though. They really did it. Games of this stature don't come often. But it was weird; it was like despite many of us being disappointed in Skyward Sword, once this game was mentioned for the first time and then especially after being shown at E3 2014, we already knew this was going to be something special. At least I felt that way. It was the way people like Aonuma talked about it, they seemed to've made up their mind that this was to be the game. And then they did it.

Got the Wii-U version recently as a gift, and I'm loving this game. Just beat one
Divine Beast
so far.

Two questions, if anyone wouldn't mind helping me out.

01. I'm about to start going through the
desert
on the very bottom left. Other than bringing some cooling items, and keeping to the shade during the day, anything else I should know, or bring?

02. I'm tempted to grab one of the cheaper compatible amiibos. Possibly Windwaker Zelda.

I'm just wondering though. You see amiibos which spawn items, and also chests. How does re-usability work? Can you only ever use it the once in your game, or can you use it to spawn items multiple times?

1.
You need means to stay warm on nights.
2. You can scan any and all amiibos once a day on your system. (You can savescum to get what you want for the day though)

So I completed all the divine beast but not finish the last part where you close out the dungeon.

Is there a reason not to close out the dungeons? I don't like the fact that the 4 of 5 largest dungeons is inaccessible after you complete them. Some of the dungeons look like easy ancient material farms.

you probably won't get the full ending. just guessing though.

full size guardians around hyrule castle are far easier to farm for ancient mats

Is there something specific I have to do to access the map in a dungeon? I'm in Vah Ruta right now and I've been stuck for a little while, and after checking a walkthrough they mention taking a look at your map but all I see is the map of Hyrule. I checked a video playthrough and it seems I'm missing it? I couldn't find anything online about a glitch at that part or something...I'm wondering if I just have to roll back to before I entered the dungeon and hope the issue is resolved. The only other thing I can think of is that I haven't visited the tower in that region yet.

Edit: I think I'm just an idiot. I thought that I was handed a map of Vah Rutah by that dude at some point before I entered the dungeon. I think I'm just missing a chest that I thought I was supposed to get later.

lol, I realized that just as you posted. Whoops. When I was looking up the solution to the specific puzzle I was facing I jumped straight to it instead of seeing if I was missing anything from the beginning. The relatively small size also meant that skipping a minute/few lines of text was enough to miss the important bit.

Speaking of divine beasts, do you get the little chest icon if you collect all the chests for a beast? I've done all of them at this point and don't see an icon on any of them. I also didn't try too hard either since they seem to contain only ancient parts and rupees.

That said, were any of these DB chests actually worth getting. Most valuable thing I think I found was an
ancient core
maybe some decent weapons.

You gotta remind me which one that is, I can't separate all 120 from the names alone, lol
It's the one
where the floor drops from under you and is trying to actively harm you.

Hetsu is a terrible way to implement the incredibly necessary inventory expansion service. No hints are given at his whereabouts, and you would have to look it up to know the lost woods hides korok forest. I would have put multiple maracas koroks in the major cities, and have the start one literally in Kakariko.

Simple yes/no answer please: is there a Yiga hideout/headquarters? If no but there's a more complex answer, spoiler tag it please.

I just finished the game and to be fair, I don't think the weapons expansion is super important past a few extra slots. I spent most of my game carrying around a vast array of powerful weapons that I barely used. And I was pretty happy to just use semi-powerful weapons just to hunt animals and hit ore.

By the end my weakest shield was 42 Yet then I never actually used one higher.

Hestu gives the hints about where he will move himself. There was no need to look it up for me. However, I first missed his first original spot, since I took a different route to that village.

I turned to a guide once I had found around 80. At that point I was also 100+ hours in and they were getting tougher and tougher to find organically.

Yes. You have to go there for one of the main quests.

Finally revealed the entire map and found the last great fairy fountain. Feels good.

Now to hunt those last materials I need to complete my upgrades...

Anyone find the implied
rape
by the great fairy amusing/disturbing? In a Nintendo game out of all places 😂

I remember the great fairies being kinda sexualized in OoT. The only other 3D Zelda I played was Wind Waker and I don't recall them getting the same treatment there. I'm curious how it was in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword.

I read awhile back of a complaint that
Urbosa's Fury
was too overpowered to be in the game. I used it a couple times and didn't think much of it. Then I crept up behind a sleeping Hinox and unwittingly charged it. One shot kill.

Yeah, I might agree now.

Nintendo has this ability to take good ideas and sometimes implement them horribly and make it needlessly tedious and complicated. I'm not just talking about the process, but also the tedious bumbling through slow UI and repeated dialog boxes to do what you need to do:

1. worst offender: armor dyeing. its so clunky it feels like my Wii U is swimming in rocks

2. horse customization

3. armor upgrades

4. inventory upgrades

5. least worst offender: cooking. heaven forbid if you accidentally select an item you didn't want and you want to de-select it without starting from scratch.

The barrier to entry for armor dyeing, for example, should've been expensive or rare materials, not horror and dread at the thought of sitting through the armor dyeing dialog boxes, UI, load times and cute-the-first-time jingles and animations.

2 stamina wheels enough or invest more? I have 11 hearts and 2 dungeons left.

I found 3 stamina wheels and 6-8 red hearts to be practical for exploring and provide medium-level challenge.

The game became trivial with armor upgrades and once I had like 15+ hearts, so I sold my extra hearts to the demon statue.

On armor dyeing:

I don't get what the purpose is in having to wear the armor you wanna dye and also dyeing all of it at once.
Why can't I just do it individually? Dx

Something might be wrong with your system if it's having problems with the clothes dyeing. You can also skip most of the animations. Agreed with horse customization, it sucks wanting to change out the bridle for a new horse and they don't have a resident horse whisperer.

You can...

It's a cost saving thing. Try mix matching armor pieces that will share the same color.

The ending fight was a breeze, compared to a couple of them from the Divine Beasts.

Beat game with 115 shrines and 205 korok seeds, pro-hud, no shrine sensor.

All about 300 hours, give or take.

Welp. Hadn't played for a couple weeks because I was putting off the inevitable.

Just beat the game. 101 shrines, fully upgraded Ancient Armor. Pure fucking bliss man. Top 3 greatest games of all time, probably number 1

when the need arises, I have the other three disabled.
