Has there been any word on the Sony doing the E3 theater shows at cinemas around the country yet? I know the tickets disappear pretty quick.

Not yet, but last year they announced it toward the end of this month. So, they'll probably do the same thing this time.

This is not meant to be disrespectful to Thomas (Ori Dev) but even I'm a bit confused as to why an MS dev would know whether or not Bloodborne 2 is one: a thing, and two: would be at this E3.

The only thing I'd wager. Is they are friends with someone in the know. That said. Why would a dev leak something like that?

Miyazaki straight up said hes not making any more souls games.
It's genuinely accepted that Dark Souls is dead, as its a souls game
Demon Souls is also a souls game, which means it falls under Dark Souls's category of being dead.
When talking about Dark Souls being dead, Bloodborne was also included by name.

So despite them all being listed as dead as of now, why is everyone okay with believing one but not the other (two)? Despite it all coming from the same place.

Yeah, I'm fine with Souls being dead for now. I'm kinda tired of them.

Reboot in 10-15 years.

Yea that said. I'm not aware really of anything that's being leaked.

Only speculation really. People thinking DMC 5 will be there. Now I'm seeing things about Shenmue.

You know what would be great?
A new IP from FROM built from the ground up with zero restrictions in freedom and scope. As well as a new IP from everyone. Make it the freshest E3 in existence.

First time I'm reading this, where does it come from?

Someone in another thread was claiming to have inside info. But I doubt it.

Yea, I believe ya. Plus the idea of a Demon Souls 2 sounds so absolutely whack.

Personally not saying it -will- be there 100%, but I wouldn't be surprised.

It's one of Sony's biggest IP for the current gen, and a sequel just makes sense.
Even if From wasn't involved in the actual development, I would be ok with Miyazaki being just a consultant on BB2 as long as it had been given to a good studio.

Kinda makes one wonder how a Sony/ Miyazaki/ Platinum BB2 would look like.

If the Souls franchise is essentially "dead", would that mean that the remaster Bluepoint is working on wouldn't be Demon Souls? I thought that was the favourite for being remastered.

Remasters are fine, as Miyazaki said in an interview (that i posted above) that he's okay with external studio doing remasters. It just means as of now, there will be no more new games added to the souls series.

He also recently said this

What kind of game would you like to develop in the future?

Miyazaki: “Since I’ve already started work on several, it would be a spoiler if I said something. One thing I can say is that our stance on game production has not changed. In making a new game, we’re not being conscious of making something that resembles Dark Souls, or on the other hand of making something that doesn’t resemble Dark Souls. Not being concerned about whether it is similar to Dark Souls, I plan on making a game that I want to make now, and that is interesting and worthwhile.”

"I'm not making Dark Souls...but I might be making something that's very much like Dark Souls."

So lets take a look at this.
Miyazaki once again confirms he's not making a dark souls sequel
When that information was announced, Bloodborne was included and very specifically named
He also said that Fromsoft is working on a dark fantasy ARPG.
From the previous statement, we can deduce that this game is neither Dark Souls or Bloodborne.
So really, what's changed?

Both Dark Souls and Bloodborne are very similar games, but one isnt the other nor are they sequels or prequels to each other.

Its likely a new IP

And this is before we get into how dev cycles work

I am not saying you are wrong because I can honestly see it going either way, but this kind of reminds me when Jaffe said he was not making a Twisted Metal game and turned out Jaffe was making a Twisted Metal game. Not the fairest comparison but I still think Bloodborne 2 could happen.

So just saw this when I got up this morning. Prime1 makes really high end collectibles for various licenses and always announce new ones in this exclusive page. Not sure why they used a fake picture but they never announce anything like this unless its a sure thing. They are currently making two statues based in Old Hunters dlc.

Regarding that. I mean, yes it's entirely a possibility (albiet unlikely one) that Miyazaki is simply just lying to hide the project. But like I said, it's incredibly unlikely. Like I said previously, Fromsoft has 260 (262 to be exact) employees https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FromSoftware
We know they're working on 3 projects as of right now, ARPG, Armored Core, and "Weird game"
So we take that employee number and divide it equally amongst the three projects.
That's 87.3 people to a project. If I recall correctly, 80 people is about the size of the team that made Dishonored 2, which seems to be a reasonable number to make a triple A game. So from that we can assume that From has 3 games in full production right now.

Now lets talk about the ARPG in particular, Forbes source for this article is actually GAF, but it's a translation of an interview that originates elsewhere, and in the translation Miyazaki states this:
Forbes said:
”What is certain for now is, to me personally Dark Souls is over. So rather than make another sequel, I think it's time we take a step to a new direction. Development of a new intellectual property has already begun."
https://www.forbes.com/sites/ollieb...ld-wants-to-do-more-mecha-games/#11eb1fcd7094

so we now have confirmation that what they're working on is a new IP rather than a sequel to another.

On top of that, Miyazaki has stated for a while that he's interested in doing new things, and after making souls games for nearly a decade, that's understandable. So with everything he's expressed regarding the topic, it becomes increasingly more and more unlikely.

Another quote from a different article that's worth noting.
"[Wanting to move on] isn't just limited to me, but From Software and myself together want to aggressively make new things in the future. The next title will be a game that was conceived while I was president. I believe that From Software has to create new things. There will be new types of games coming from us, and Dark Souls 3 is an important marker in the evolution of From Software."

On facebook when it goes Person > Group/Page/Person that means someone is posting it to a group/page/person's timeline.
In addition to that, that image has already been debunked by ParagonDS as a fake.
and on top of that, the page they posted it to was just a group, it wasn't the page posting it or even a member of the company unless that person has any significance in the company that I'm unaware of.

Posted directly by them. Kelvin Loke is basically the "marketing" guy for them. He has direct ties to the owner of the company and does all of their product announcements including current and future licenses. Its odd he used a shopped photo but all the same they dont just randomly announce shit like this for fun, they have a very rabid collectors community.

That's fine. But like i said, everything ive posted is easily Googlable. Believe what you want, but at least im able to find sources to back up every one of my claims.

No offense, but I've learned to not get wrapped up too much in what insiders have to say about E3, after cboat. I'd rather just look at the info as fun and watch these funny conversations happen.

It might just be him getting people excited for a sequel because he knows people enjoy it. It might not be indicative of anything unless he actually went out and said "Be prepared for Bloodborne 2 figures from us" or something similar.

None taken, all skepticism is understandable and like I've said, I myself am not an insider, I've just had something confirmed to me second hand. Everything else I post about the topic isn't from me or said insider, it's info that's easily available on google which is why I'm making an effort right now to post that information in here to debunk rabid rumors.

If it's any constellation to anyone though, I messaged More_Badass this morning with all of the information I was given. I haven't recieved a response and don't really expect to. But I did make an effort. If there's any other mod I should talk to, I'm entirely open to doing so.

He probably thinks it's real and is just sharing the news.

Basically the right hand man of the owner of the company. Im not saying he couldnt have made a mistake but he could lose his job for giving his boss a headache in having to explain this to their customers. The group is private and announcements like this are how they keep it going, sorta like a behind the curtain of the company if you will.

That very well could be, but it would be extremely careless of them. Been a member there for a long time and never seen them hype something up and then back pedal on it. I mean these statues cost between $800-$1200.

Fair enough, but I still stand by my prior statement about them just getting customers excited.
Because that would mean that they independently leaked it themselves prior to any actual announcement in addition to using a confirmed to be fake promo image and again, there's nothing outside of this that actually suggests that any sequel to Bloodborne is in development and rather mountains of stuff that suggests the opposite. I'm fine with eating crow but, just seems incredibly unlikely.

After looking at Fromsoft's game output post Demon Souls I will say that it's likely that Fromsoft is currently working on more than 3 projects, but I don't actually know what they're team sizes are.

But regarding their ARPG output, the only games they've put out post Demon Souls are Dark Souls and it's sequels along with Bloodborne. So I don't actually know how large their team sizes tend to be. But again, 80 people (at least for games as large in scope as the souls series are) seems to be reasonable.

It's also worth noting that presumably Dark Souls 2 went into development in 2011 while Bloodborne went into development in 2012. Both games seemingly had a 3 year dev time, with Dark Souls 3's presumably being around the same if not a bit less (if we assume that it went into the prototyping phase as Dark Souls 2 development cooled down in late 2013)

Dark Souls 2 was announced back in 2012 and released 2 years later in 2014 (So I'd assume it was in development for maybe around a year prior to announcement)
Bloodborne 2 was announced in 2014 and released in 2015 but started development post Artorias of the Abyss in 2012
Dark Souls 3 was announced in 2015 and released in 2016, again I assume that it was in the prototyping stage during late 2013, early 2014.

Though I do think they all use modified versions of the same engine.
Fromsoft might want to make a new engine to work on their new IP, which might mean that development might take longer in addition to the added scope of whatever they're working on, and perhaps starting from the ground up I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a 4 year dev cycle, maybe more.

So with that in mind, Armored Core was confirmed to be in development and mentioned by name and very likely to be the PSVR project that Fromsoft was confirmed to be working on. So I'm going to assume that that project is further along than the ARPG, so maybe that's the project that entered development once Bloodborne cooled down. which means it's been in development for 2 years already so an announcement this year and a release next year is possible

and if the above rings to be true, than that means the ARPG likely entered development post Dark Souls 3. and is now in full development that Dark Souls 3 is finished. So at the most it's only been in development for a year. With the above dev cycle, the announcement usually comes on year 2 of development which means if it's to be revealed any time soon, it would at the earliest be next year and then be followed by a 2019 release date.

This is all speculation and I could be way off base, but it's just something I found interesting.

Edit: I think it's also important worth noting since people seem to consistently have this misconception.
Sony Japan did not develop Bloodborne
They're listed as producers
as for what a videogame producer does:
Producers basically manage the relationship with the artist. They find the talent, work out product deals, get contracts signed, manage them, and bring them to their conclusion. The producers do most of the things that a product manager does. They don't do the marketing, which in some cases product managers do. They don't make decisions about packaging and merchandising, but they do get involved ... they're a little like book editors, a little bit like film producers, and a lot like product managers

Its also possible that if there is a Bloodborne 2, Japan Studio could be doing the heavy lifting and From is more of support for it. I am just trying to keep my hope alive! I just have to believe.
