Eh, this is serious stuff. Even Republicans in office realize they should back off after this. If this continues, more Republicans will be backing away because they know if they continue to back Trump its going to screw them in future elections.

Pretty simple: the donors are ultra-wealthy who pay for influence primarily over a small number of issues (EPA regulations, military spending and contracting, health insurance reform, etc.), and the amount they have to pay to get Republicans elected goes up the more the GOP makes themselves look like assholes.

At some point paying for campaigns that are likely to fail despite an absurdly huge investment simply isn't worth it.

I know it's an unrealistic wish, because unfortunately the majority of American voters are idiots. But I really hope by the end of this entire drama, the Republican Party is permanently damaged in some way that they can never come back from.

These criminals should be held accountable for their inhuman actions.

I have learned to not get excited about things Trump has done that will get him removed from office, but I must say this is exciting. It appears the writing is on the wall and he is done.

Curious - if impeached for obstruction will he face jailtime? That would be icing on the cake.

When the pussy tape leaked, I thought it would be *the* moment that finally killed Trump's campaign. Obviously that didn't happen.

But it's very hard not to imagine Comey's firing as the fatal mistake that starts the whole house of cards falling down. Especially given how needlessly petty it was.

We will never hear these "tapes" Trump says he supposedly has, especially from this conversation and definitely unaltered/edited. But if there really are tapes, I hope someone can find them and release them after Trump leaves office.

This crap is just ridiculous and super sad people are still defending the man no matter what happens.

If this was actually serious, this whole set of shenanigans should not have been allowed to progress as far as it has.

As a non-American, I cannot grasp how something could be this fucked up, and still carry on, and get worse.

At this point, we need to ignore Trump. No amount of pressure we put on him will budge him, because he knows he has Congress in his pocket, and THAT'S the problem.

As long Republicans in congress feel that they can get away with not taking actions because all the focus is on Trump, they won't take action.

And as long as they don't take action, nothing will happen. There is nothing Trump will do that will make Republicans decide to impeach him if that pressure isn't put on THEM. Not him.

As things stand now, Trump really could shoot somebody in cold blood, in broad daylight, and get away with it. No joke.

He's had this problem for a long while now, and people were already talking after the inauguration how long it would take before they needed credibility and how they were just flushing their credibility down the toilet with the inauguration picture fight.
