Did I make it in time for the "Switch sold 906k in March, Nintendo is doomed" bullshit?
Terrible numbers. I doubt scarcity is THAT of a problem. I don't think Is logical to think Nintendo is shipping a similar number of consoles in JPN and US.
How does the drop compare to XB1 and PS4's second month?

280k seems... low? Stock that bad?

I remember people saying in the switch stock thread that they were becoming more easily stocked in Germany at the biggest retailer now.
Maybe it's improved by now for May numbers but who knows.
The ratio is close to that of the first month, so ROW is probably closer to USA than Japan, so slightly over 250k is my guess.Screams supply constraints. 280k for USA, 220k for Japan I'd predict another 250k for whole of Europe/ROW. That's much less than a million

How did the 3DS do in it's second month in the US for comparison?

Sure, but I was more curious of how many they could ship.Large drop off though those were during Christmas. (They did 800-900kish).
You have to imagine a decent number of Switches that were sold in March would have been sold in April if they didn't basically do an air drop to get them out for March.

Their second month was Christmas, so no point even comparing them
impossible, can't up the production so soon, at best we can expect 400-600k per month for US which I don't think it will be enough to meet demand 100%.Hopefully the stock issues are fixed by the end of this month. The system could have easily sold double that amount in April if they had more units to sell.
194k. It was fully in stock though (sold only 98k units in May..)How did the 3DS do in it's second month in the US for comparison?
This is the big news here. They really underestimated the demand for the console.
But MK8D selling half a million in like 2 days is amazing/impressive.

Was 3DS sold out everywhere too in its second month? Unless it was this wouldn't really be a fair comparison.

Honest question; why are Nintendo having issues keeping up with demand? Sony and Microsoft didn't have this problem, or at least not as bad, did they?
AH, THERE it is. Nintendo is doooooooooooooomed.

He is correct. If you have like a Slickdeals alert set up for Twitter notifications you can snap up a Swtich fairly easily. They don't sell out in like 30 seconds.I haven't really been following the stock threads or whatever since I already got mines, but my friend says that if he really wanted to get a Switch, he could easily buy one online from like Amazon or whatever and this is easily done if you're twitter game is on point or something.
For people still looking, is this actually true or is he talking out his ass?

oh wow 3DS tanked.
Actually this is a very good point. Part of the potential 1m a month shipments were potentially rushed in during March.

To be fair...releasing a new console in March after the colossal failure of the Wii U I would probably plan to ship conservatively as well just in case it didn't catch on immediately.
Wii U literally just had boxes sitting on shelves right after first two launch months so they probably got burned to some extent during that.
1. Sony and MS are much larger corporations
2. Wii U was a colossal disaster for Nintendo
3. Nintendo is a very conservative company in general
