Bloodborne |OT+5| Grant Us Eyes!

May the good brick guide your way.

You can find this guy in the Series 17 Collectable Minifigs in most stores now, found mine at walmart yesterday. Since these come in blind bags, you'll have to feel for what it is and hope you guessed right; he's pretty easy, just feel for one of his two guns as no other minifig comes with one.

You'll have to make the Pizza Cutter yourself, though.

Spend months playing overwatch and Nioh
+
Try to jump back to where you left off on Bloodborne
+
Have that place be the Old Hunter DLC on NG+
=
You're gonna have a bad time

Edit: Luckily, applying some defensive runes lets you survive this utter insanity of viciousness!

Look, I know some people do naked, weaponless runs of the game at NG+7, but for me, Old Hunters DLC on NG+ is as difficult as anything I remember playing. Having around 12% defense increase all around is barely letting me survive shit lol

can someone please help me out here?

I'd like to get the Heir rune that's in the Chalice Dungeon.

the wiki says its in the Pthumeru Ihyll Root Chalice Dungeon, when I go there the Wiki gives codes to get specifics runes, guaranteed. that's for online play, I do not have a PS+ and won't buy anytime soon.

when offline, will I have to play and keep producing copies of the same dungeon and play through them for a chance of the rune droping somewhere?

EDIT: answer is yes, it seems.... I guess I can save to an USB stick before creating the dungeon and then repeat ad nauseum till I get what I want. is that my best chance?

Yes. The odds are abysmal that you'll get the exact thing you want so unless you enjoy chalicing for the sake of chalicing it isn't worth it.

Remember, if you're not online you have the added penalty of having to pay for a new chalice dungeon (in depth 5 materials) every time.

just beat defiled amygdala and my hands are shaking as I post...

my heart is pumping...I need to calm down.

After 2 weeks on hold, I went back to chalice dungeons. I am in pthumeru depth 5 and just beat the descendant boss.

I am observing a pattern with the later bosses. They all have insane target combos. Their attacks are basically homing and it results in weird animation. It's also a cheap way of making them harder to dodge.

Here some comments on what I achieved yesterday:

Deflied Chalice Bosses:

Layer 1, the Witch: should have been easy but it took me way too many tries because I was using the wrong strategy (R2 with big axe, should work in theory but it's not a good strategy in the practice). The trick was to stay away, try to bait her to do a parry-able attack and proceed to do decent damage with it, 2 Clawmark runes help a ton, as well as the rune that gives HP with a visceral attack

Layer 2, Stone Fire Dog: after 20 or so tries with the wrong summoned NPC, I changed to the NPC that is almost naked but uses a cannon, it made the boss go from 10/10 in difficulty to 4/10, the cannon stunned the beast, brought it to its knees and it was way to easy to hit the head.

what level were you?

Layer 3, Defiled Amygdala: surprisingly enough, I didn't need a lot of tries, less than the dog for sure. I was most likely around 128, the thing is so big, that I'd just start running around hitting body parts, at times I'd approach the head and hit it. The adrenaline started to build up when my summoned NPC died and started to circle the beast doing little but consistent damage, actually bringing the health bar down. the thing would just miss her hits with that stomp move, I'd miraculously stay alive. With just sliver of health I'd try to hit the head but it was too high and the camera was moving like crazy, I was sure I was going to die because Bloodborne is like that, it loooooves to one-hit kill you when you're about to win.

Orphan of Kos: I was dreading getting to him becuase it has the reputation of hardest and most agressive boss in the game. The later was true, the former not really. OoK is basically a Father Gascoigne in steroids, much faster and deadlier, for the most part of the fight. I approached him like the witch in layer 1 DC dungeon, bait for a parryable attack and hit hard, but alas, shit hits the fan in his last phase... I'd just move around trying to avoid the sparks and what not and managed to connect one more gun + visceral in the middle of his chaos. you see it has like 10% life and your heart starts pumping... heal, dodge, heal, dodge, all while you look for the window to hit once or twice. I think I was lucky. I was level 137, which I think is an "ok" level to beat him, at no point in the game have I felt overleveled, in fact I've felt that having high levels and stats has turned bullshit impossible fights into hard-but-fair fights. It took me no more than 10 tries. Fire Dog and Defiled Amygdala felt way harder to be honest.

as for the Fishing Hamlet Area: thanks but no thanks, I think I am starting to get burnt out from the game, didn't like the area at all, plenty of annoying stuff there: the homing purple skull enemies, those Frenzy inducing big brain fuckers, the shark ogres, plus it looks butt ugly compared to the main locales in the game

Today I'll do the Great Isz Chalice and then the next one with the queen. After that, I am done everything I can do in the game before the
Ghermann fights

oh these are my four +10 Weapons for this playthrough (1 Blood rock from the main game, 1 from DLC, 2 bought from the messengers) pure brute strength build

Ludwig's Holy Sword
Hand Axe
Whirligig Saw (I had to for the Dungeon Blood starved beast)
Holy Moonlight Sword (for that nice distance beam)

(never saw the appeal of the thread cane, to be honest, does shit damage, not very fast..)

About an hour into NG+3 now and it's becoming a little tedious. Might take a break from it and return in future.

Ive found new love by just starting new characters and making new builds with different weapons. Co-op, pvp, chalice dungeons, NT+s. Ive sunk hundreds of hours into this game and am finding doing all of that keeps it fresh for me.

I forgot how Laurence is complete bullshit. His hitboxes are just silly and the camera is out to murder you. I might actually skip him, just because he's pissing me off with his utter ridiculousness.

I never understand how stunning him works. I shoot him in the face twice with my repeating pistol and he gets stunned, but then I go through the rest of my ammo and he doesn't stun again. Thankfully he's one of those bosses where his last phase is easier.

You're bad.

He's kinda cheap because he has a lot of HP, otherwise he'd be easy.

Nice! Congrats! Next headache (for me at least) is Pthumerian Descendant. you are pretty much home free after him

I had to cheese that guy, hit him with an R2 big Hand axe attack as he was stuck trying to get through the pillars.

parry + visceral didn't seem to work for the most part and his sequence attacks were bullshit so I had to.

the headless beast afterwards was also kind of hard.

Me too :) very nice game to platinum actually, no BS tasks

Favorite bosses:

Father Gascoigne
Martyr Logarius

Most Boring:

Micolash
Amygdala

My nightmare:

Vicar Amelia :O way too hard at that point in the game.

I was level 139 after DLC so you should be fine, just so you know, the DLC bosses are harder than the main game ones.

after beating all bosses I am trying to decide which one is really, honestly the hardest and I am torn between
Ludwig, Laurence and Orphan of Kos
... not really sure, can't make my mind.

Ludwig
has a BRUTAL first phase
Laurence
and the Lava in the 2nd phase was also very hard
Orphan
is nuts, hysterical when he's down to around 30% health bar

Finally defeated
Martyr Logarius
, man this guy gave me a tough time, I think he's the boss I've died the most to, doesn't help I died to him earlier when I was one hit away...

Now I'm probably going to do Upper Cathedral Ward (heard interesting things about this place) and then the DLC, finishing up with
Gerhman
and the
Moon Presence.

My dudes, I'm looking to do another playthrough with this game but with a new build. So far, I've done pure SKL with a church pick and STR/BLT with bloodletter (which is stupidly fun).

I'm looking to mix things up with arcane, but rather than going down the typical STR/ARC with that guiding sword, I want to try my hands at a SKL/ARC build. I've searched the internet and the consensus is that it's not worth it, but I really want to make it work.

Any suggestions on what weapons to role with for it? Suggestions for stats as well if you got any. I've heard BoM and Burial Blade are the obvious contenders but also heard they're not a good choice due to the split damage. Threaded Cane might sound like an option but its a starter weapon and I've always liked looking forward to using other weapons as I progress rather than sticking with the same one throughout.

There isn't really an optimal way to run Skill/Arcane - you're pretty much going to end up with a weak skill build that can use hunter tools (with lackluster damage, at that). That in itself is probably fine - you're already familiar with the game, after all - but the two stats have no synergy.

The problem with the Blade of Mercy and Burial Blade isn't split damage - it's that the base arcane damage on both weapons is extremely low. An investment of 50 arcane will only get you an extra 36 damage when those weapons are fully upgraded.

I'd still recommend Strength/Arcane. Even discounting the Moonlight Sword you're left with the ability to use the Tonitrus, Boom Hammer, Logarius' Wheel, and Amygdalan Arm.

If you really wanted to run Skill/Arc, though, you'd have a couple ways to go about it:

A) Even split between Skill and Arcane. Use a weapon with skill scaling and leave it physical. Use the arcane for Hunter's Tools and Flamesprayer/Rosmarinus (though I'm not a fan of either). The weapon will do okay damage because gems > stats but your tool damage will really suffer. In fact, I'm not sure you'd ever want to use them.

B) Get the minimum stats for a skill weapon, slot it with fire/bolt/arcane gems, and pump arcane. Your tools will be pretty good. Your weapon damage will be lacking because there are so few arcane gems in the main game, but it'll be manageable.

C) Do a skill build but get 15 arcane. Take advantage of the support tools - constantly run buffs with Empty Phantasm Shell, boost dodges with Old Hunter's Bone, harass enemies with Beast Roar. Go up to 18 if you want to parry/run interference with Augur of Ebrietas.

It's the best weapon to pick if you're going pure SKL or SKL/BT. Plus it looks awesome and has good range. You can cheese a lot of enemies in transformed mode.

I suppose C will have to do. That was the original plan with wanting to use either blade of mercy or rakuyo with some arcane for support, but I didn't want it feeling too samey to just a pure Skill build. But I don't feel like committing to a full on arcane build just yet, so I'll just go with it. Will probably do the STR/ARC build next time then. Thanks.

I thought the final game looked better than this tbh... though it does have CA mixed in.

Kind of both, if you ask me. That pic has, for example, the lighting source at the house (kind of like how the lighting sources were better in the beta rather than the final game), and seems to have more fog and different color curve... and no CA!

Final version def have better textures though.

Well hello, Bloodborne community thread. I got a PS4 mostly for Persona 5 which i finished a week or so ago. I picked up horizon and bloodborne and have been mostly playing bloodborne since. Still slowly making my way through the first area.

I have kind of a weird history with the souls games. I imported demon's souls before it really blew up and played it for 20-30 hours. I own all three dark souls games on PC but haven't beaten any of them.

I really want to beat Bloodborne, no matter how long it takes me. Trying not to read too much about it either, I want to just play through it pure. The atmosphere and gameplay are beyond top-notch. I feel like I need to seriously play one of the souls games to see what all the fuss is really about.

Guys I totally forgot what I was doing.....

Last trophy I got was Rom the spider and I finished that Eileen's quest (killed the hunter).

I finished one chalice dungeon (fire animal boss) and don't know how to start or which.

Where do I go?

Main quest:

Unseen village, where you got snatched and thrown in jail.

Optional:

Get grabbed by the creepy creature in front of the big door to teleport to nightmare frontier. That door can be found by taking the right path in front of the cathedrale where you fought Vicar Amelia.

By the way, you may not be able to teleport to unseen village. Take the same path as the optional quest but enter the door instead of being grabbed by the creature and you will endup there.

I am not sure what to do...

I finished BB like a week ago, platinumed it and then shelved the game.

I was playing way too much and neglecting other things in my life so I decided to quit playing it to get "back on track".

but I want more bloodborne :( I am constantly thinking I want to play more of it but the idea of a NG+ isn't very appealing, it's the same game, probably harder and in reality it does take long...

I guess what I need is a proper sequel... in the mean time I think I'll have to deal with these cravings....

I must say it's been fun to read your journey from never touched the game and feeling nervous about it, to slowly getting better then eventually getting the platinum! Most of my reading in here is enjoying seeing people go through similar experiences, and how they end up absolutely loving it.

I'm not really an NG+ guy either, I just like starting another NG and running with a different build every so often when I get that craving to give it another run through.

NG+ is actually faster and easier than NG.

You can also try Dark Souls 3. It's the most similar Dark Souls game to Bloodborne.

I went to the upper areas and fought giant boars and stuff but the places were dead ends...

I am maybe missing a key item or something?

The key item is only for the optional area. After beating rom you got teleported in front of a big door with a creature hanging on top of it. Enter throught that door and you should be in a new area connected to unseen village. Are you able to teleport to unseen village? You are not supposed to at this point as the lamp is destroyed.

Going right in front of the cathedral where you fought Amelia you will find some stairs leading to a big empty area with some kinda fountain. Go right again and you should land in a cave like area. You will then drop down to a place with 2 executioners. Go past them to the big door. That will put you back on the main quest.
