What fictional character death phased you the most?

Put the title of the show, movie, game or book whatever above the character and use spoiler tags please. For me it's probably:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Tara's death, every time I watch it I desperately hope it doesn't happen this time, but then when it does right after she gets back together with Willow it's just completely heartbreaking, the way it happens, how sudden it is, how unfair and unexpected it is, just like it happens in real life I suppose.

Game of Thrones Spoilers (TV show, specifically)

Oberyn Martell

His scream still haunts me

Also:

The Shield.

You know the two.

Dinobot

As a kid I did not see this coming at all. Season 1 of the show was pretty lighthearted, then season 2 gets all serious.
Dinobot's
death was the moment I realized that Transformers could do more with it's stories than just be a 20 minute toy commercial.

As an adult it holds up pretty well. They spend a while building up his internal conflict, how he's unsure if he's a slave to fate, his thoughts on suicide. It's pretty well done for a kid's show.

Edit:
Missed the request for spoiler tags.

The Wire:

Frank Sabotka: IMO the greatest TV character in history. Everything he did was for the industry he loved as he watched it die in front of him. He carried the weight of every decision so heavily, and was tortured by it all. His eventual death caused by the FBI guy, someone so far removed from him and his station was a massive gut-punch.

Bodie: He had done some horrible shit of course, but he was an absolute product of his environment and did everything out of loyalty, no matter how warped that was. He was more committed than half of the police officers on the show, and went out like a soldier. His scene with McNulty in the park just previous is amazing.

I've honestly never felt too torn up over a fictional character's death. But there is one that I know is gonna fucking break me.

As a kid: The Lion King
Mufasa
and to make it worse,
my dad died 2 years after the lion king came out, I was 9 and the Lion King was already my favorite movie. Losing my dad made the movie 100 times more special to me.
It's still my favorite movie even though it makes me so so sad every time I watch it.

More recent times:
GoT
Ned Stark, again, I don't deal well with good dads dying, destroys me everytime

That "cake" eating scene from Grave of the Fireflies...

Definitely the most disturbed and sick I've ever felt after a movie.

Some of the deaths in The Wire really made me pissed.

Like Prop Joe, but I was more pissed because I felt like it was not justified in the world of the show and instead was just part of Season 5's crusade to shit all over the carefully balanced characters and situations that they established for the other 4 seasons.

Namely because I was playing the game during a real rough time in my life and it kinda sent me over the edge. It's what made me realize I needed to get help

Since we're spoiler tagging everything...

Lenny
from Of Mice and Men. That story broke me. Before I read it, I used to cry all the time. Now my heart is stone.

RIP Tasha Yar. I still feel like that was the first funeral I attended.

The most recent one was just today for me.

Steins;Gate

When Moeka killed Mayuri, shooting her right in front of Okabe.

I was every bit as depressed as I was infuriated, not only because of what happened, but who did it as well. And the thing is, I'm still nowhere near done playing it, having yet to even get a single ending, so I'm already expecting things to only get worse.

Rei Hino - Sailor Moon

having finally accepted Usagi as her future Queen and friend (and in this shippers kind love interest) only to walk to her own death so Moon had time to save the day crushed me so fucking hard. Love Mars so much in the anime.

Alys
from Phantasy Star 4.

This was the first time I experienced a major character death from a videogame and it always sticks with me.

Malazan book 7

Beak
"Beak, can you hold your own in what’s to come?"
"Yes sir. You’ll see. Everyone will because you’re all my friends and friends are important. The most important thing in the world."

And a side note - Fuck The Errant
