Donkey Kong was in an Adam Sandler movie. This is nothing.
Besides, Nintendo's characters have been in all sorts of stuff recently. Rayman Legends had Mario costumes and Sonic Lost World had a Zelda-themed level.

The possibility that I'm holding on is that another universe which this game belongs to collided with this one, creating a temporal bubble. The game will cease to exist in our timeline when the bubble bursts.

I really like the idea of a Mario-themed crossover strategy-RPG. But I'm not sure any amount of good impressions about the gameplay could sway me on this just because of how irritating I find the rabbids generally. I can practically already hear the annoying screaming and twitchy "antics" constantly weaving through the experience. I love the humor in Mario RPGs, but Rabbid humor is a different style and I'm not sure it would mesh well without becoming totally overbearing.

It sounds sexual. Which I think fits with the picture in the OP as well.

It's not the design of Rabbid Peach that disgusts me (pretty much lines up with how I expected it to look)... it's the presence of a smartphone and the fact that the Rabbid is taking a selfie.

Nintendo is extremely protective of their IP. They wouldn't let this project get off the ground if they didn't approve of it
