Unambiguously gay main playable characters in games

Pretty sure Jill is bisexual. She mentions previously dating a couple guys in the game.

Obviously gay? You make it sound like these are members of a teen boy band who can't come out to their fans because of management mandates.
Anything that makes these fictional characters seem "obviously gay" to you is because of decisions made by the developers/publishers you deem cowardly.

This is legit. Shepard and Kaiden Alenko definitely were unambiguously together in my playthrough, I tell you what.
I'm... Having a hard time coming up with any. What few examples I can think of are either bi or they're not the main or a playable character at all.
I think naming erotica stuff is pointless too because at least japanese examples are often produced to appeal to hetero teens of the opposite sex and the whole point of their existence is to deliver on that premise. Also I'm not knowledgeable about stuff like Nights of Azure at all, but the game comes off as "hell yeah hot yuris" rather than serious, well intended representation of lesbians (as is the case with a lot of japanese media sadly), but I'd love to be corrected on that.
Also is kinda frustrating to see Yusuke from P5 so commonly interpreted as homosexual because he's quite blatantly hetero, being sexually attracted to Ann but never showing more than friendly praise for men. At most I'd call him aromantic, and this comes from someone who really wishes he was a romantic option for Joker... But I guess him being effeminate blinds players about these things. I mean, someone just suggested Tingle based on how flamboyant he is despite him starring games where his goal is being popular among women lol.
Also this thread made me really interested into Fire Emblem... Ike's duology at least.

As far as I can remember, Hitman 47 has only a few sexual encounters, and they're all with the same person, a female prostitute Depending on the game, he responds with either disgust or confusion. Somehow I don't think that's because she's a woman. I think Hitman 47 is either disgusted or completely ignorant of sex.
Some people have speculated he might have something going with Diana, but that relationship is so vague, it's impossible to say.
It's fucking great for a lot of reasons...Series best up there with Jugdral, imo.

Holy shit. You directed the GC series? Not to change the subject but the Gunman Clive games was one of the few games I played nonstop when I was in college. I totally bombed an interview because I lost track of time playing GC 1. (Which I'll say thank you for because I found a much better job afterwards.)

Ike has a sister. Priam could be descended from Mist and Boyd. This is similar to how Marth is not a direct descendant of Anri.
Yosuke's cut romantic dialogue will always be the biggest missed opportunity of Persona 4 for me. It would retroactively improve a lot of the game's more questionable writing, imo. :/
(We don't talk about Persona 5)
I think it's funny how bi characters are seemingly more common than outright gay characters because with bi characters players can "ignore" the half they're not interested in, rather than embrace both sides of their character's sexuality.

Yep, it's extremely lame.
There's a place for subtext of course, and not everything needs to be spelled out all the time, (this is true for all sort of character development) but the amount of flimsy implication we're supposed to hold onto when it comes to potential gay protagonists/playable characters is ridiculous. It's definitely time to move beyond all these "maybes" and have more heroes that are out and proud to be so.
Lots of people seem to forget about this. It's all still frustratingly ambiguous, but if you look at Ike's behaviour, and his available pairings for endings, to me it seems far more plausible that Ike is gay. But again, there's no definite statement either way and that doesn't adhere to what this topic is about.

Priam makes his claim to be a descendent of Ike and not Mist or any of the other Greil mercenaries. Being descendent of mist would.l make him not a descendant of Ike (though both cases would make him Greils descendant, that is not what is claimed)... At least beyond some very worrying incest implications.
Ike had a child and unless you think Ike is the kind of person to go in to a fake marriage and have children for appearances (in which case I seriously recommend replaying the games) sake, I can only conclude he went on to marrying someone of the female gender at some point.

Yeah, that happened to a friend. I was watching him play that part, when some old guy basically jumped on him. I laughed so hard, because beforehand he was certain that he'll get some girl that he thought was cute lol

Chris has a strong gay following but I dont think anyone at capcom actually ever planned him to be unambiguously gay.
I dont think his campaign in RE6 was meant to be sexual with Piers.They're comrades on a life threatening battlefield.

Priam isn't from the Radiance duology, he is from a later game made by a different creative staff. Awakening has a different writering team and director from the Radiance games. Heck, it isn't even clear that the Radiance games take place in the same planet as Awakening, before we even get into the alternate timeline/parallel world stuff that Awakening explores. There are a billion explanations for Priam's existence that don't change the fact that Ike is almost certainly gay within his own games.

I think he is more asexual or bisexual who don't mind having a kid for legacy purposes. Actually Ike can even be Gay and have a kid lol, the game does not points to anything conclusive either way.

If Fang was a dude no one would question their togetherness. "Those two are bound by something stronger than family," etc. etc. I can't believe this is still something that has to be argued about.

Yeah those two games have always made me curious because of things like this, but I always feel conflicted because I'd like to play more FE games after them and the modern ones seem... Unpleasant (sans SoV).
It's always been relatively socially acceptable for men to find lesbian romance hot.
But for women to find gay male romance hot is mostly seen as "normal" in nerdy mediums like anime and games though, which is why a lot of gay representation is seen in stuff specifically made for women while you might spot a couple lesbians in more mainstream stuff. It's hot in the eyes of "normal" men so it's not that big of a deal.
I'm not so sure about that. If you A-Support Ike and Mist in Radiant Dawn
you get unique dialogue with Mist asking Ike to always stay with her, and Ike replies by saying he never breaks his promises. What does he do at the end of the game? He leaves anyway. So it's not like Ike is a saint or anything.
Not that it matters to me, as I don't consider the SpotPass maps in Awakening to even be canon. Storywise they make no sense to even be there.
